Saturday. He was fun. He needed a "booster shot" at the Cinema, then he worked well. We were a party of four people (50, 58, 60, & 68), he was hard to hear at times. We didn't mind carrying him around ( the clip did not work well) but if we had children with to take care, of Pal Mickey would have problably been lost or put into a bag. The CMs were very interested in him. In fact Pal Mickey got us into FastPass lanes without a FastPass. The CMs just seemed to take us out of line and move us into the faster lane. I am not going to mention which rides because I don't want to get any CMs in trouble.
My favorite was when Mickey said SCCCAAARRRRYYYY in the Haunted Mansion.

That is so cool! I can't wait to get one on my next trip!

That was nice of the CM's to move you into another line - almost made ya feel like a VIP, huh?

It was very nice. We have been going to WDW since it opened and we never received special treatment before. It's who you know and we had Pal Mickey to pave the way.

What was the booster shot?? we had one and were not to impressed, seems like a great idea just needs some fine tuneing, seems pal Mickey giggled more than anything

Sounds cute! Thanks for sharing. I just started hearing about the Pal Mickey so I'm interested in seeing what he does.

We leave on Friday and I just told my daughter about the pal Mickeys. She had her First Communion on Saturday and even after we took a chunk of her gift money to deposit in bank she has quite a bit left over to spend as she wants. My girls are very unspoiled so she seems a bit leery. She keeps checking in with me before she gets her hopes up "are you sure I can it get it mommy?". I keep reassuring her the rest of her money is hers and I will not influence how she spends it. She is so excited and looking forward to buying one of these. I am tickled as well as at the mature age of 7 she has lost some of the innocent Disney magic and is more focused on her first ride on RRC then the other delights she used to enjoy.

Am I the only person who doesn't know what this is? Can you only get one in the parks? Or is there an online source for them?

I would suggest that anyone who is considering purchasing pal mickey rent him first. You may be disappointed with how he works (or doesn't work). We used him in mgm and epcot, and weren't all that impressed. There is a thread in the dvc board about him detailing some of his problems. I think he has a lot of potential, but also needs to have all his bugs fixed.

Amy

Pal Mickey is available at all theme parks and resorts, i would also suggest renting before purchasing

Pal Mickey is only available in the resorts right now. That is what we were told on Friday. Not in the parks, not downtown.
The booster shot he needed was because he didn't seem to be pick up signals. A CM took us over to the Cinema on Main Street and put him up to an electronic device (it was in a drawer), after that he seemed to work.
He was fun but I am not sure I would want to carry him around for four days (four parks).

If you rent him for the day and like him can you turn him in for a "new" one at the end of the day???? I dont want to spend $50 on one that has been "sanitized" after use....I want a new one.....too selfish?!

vellamint that's what I was wondering. If I decide I want to keep him I want a brand new Mickey for my $50.

I just got back from Disney today, and took my Pal Mickey to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and MGM. While he seemed to work the best in Magic Kingdom, he really did work pretty well in all 3 of those parks. He pretty much said something either entering or exiting every major attraction. He also said at least one thing in each of the World Showcase countries, and the longer I stayed in that country, the more he seemed to say. The only minus I could find was that the batteries seemed to go pretty quickly, like within 2 days. But on the plus side of that, cast members offered to change the batteries for free as long as I was at Disney World. I purchased him at Disney's Old Key West Resort, and they said as long as I had the receipt that I could come back anytime to get free batteries put in him. The batteries also ran out while inside Epcot, and the cast members at Mousegear gave me another set of free batteries. He takes 3 AA batteries, so they're common batteries, not hard to find ones or anything. Pal Mickey is now available inside the theme parks as well- he was on sale at all 3 of the above-mentioned theme parks in various gift shops. Sometimes Pal Mickey even seems to know which direction you're heading, like he said a joke for entering Tomorrowland, and then a different joke about exiting Tomorrowland, walking over the same bridge in the opposite direction. That was almost scary that he even knew which direction I was walking LOL. Overall, of course I fell in love with him and had to purchase him. If there are any questions that I might be able to answer, I'll certainly try.

How much does it cost to rent Pal Mickey?

I was told that to rent him is $8 per day, with a $50 deposit on your credit card.

Thanks for the quick response. Now I have to decide if we want to rent him or not. Will have to ask my kids. That's great about gettingin the fast pass lanes, but you can't count on that happening for everyone.

Hmmmm..... I'm thinking we're going to have to give Pal Mickey a try on our next trip! I can say it's for ds (4); but it's kinda more for me!;) I think we'll rent him for a day and decide if we want to buy one! Sounds fun:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Does anyone know if he can be brought back on future trips? We are going the end of Aug into Sept and plan on buying one but we would also like to be able to bring him back on our trip after then in Feb 2004.

Yes, Pal Mickey is suppose to be used on future trips. I bought him last week and DW is going in 2 weeks. She is going to take him with her. When I bought him I was told to take him to the rental place at any park and they would upgrade him with the current info.
