As I understood it cancellation needed to be done it writing but I have always been able to amend by phone.
I was just going by the T&Cs
9. If You Change Your Booking (see Section 10 if you want to cancel your Booking)
(a) If, after we have issued your Confirmation Invoice, you wish
to alter your Booking in any way (other than a transfer to another person as per Section 8),
the Lead Name must make a written request to us at least 14 days before departure, quoting your booking reference.
This should be sent in writing to Walt Disney Travel Company,3 Queen Caroline Street, London W6 9PE or by email to disneytraveluk@disneyonline.com, quoting your booking reference.
Part of my disabilities include an alteration of my ability to speak when I'm upset (stuttering, not able to find words or make complete sentences) and that makes me quite uncomfortable. That's why I wanted to be "in control" and deal with this issue in writing as per the T&Cs. That part I'm frustrated about as I feel they did not respect that. and you're right, I'm still upset about my last trip too. This one was the straw that broke the camel's back.
I would call and try again.
I just did, and was instructed again to do it in writing .... so I sent an email as I was on the phone, and had the CM verify with the appropriate service that it was received, and that email was a full cancellation
I don't care for the 195€ I'm gonna lose, as long as I'm done with this booking.
As the tickets are compensation any use is getting value from them.
your words are wise and sensible, as always, and I guess I'm reacting like a teenage hothead.
But if I see any value in those tickets, there is no real value using them this year. They're good until 2030. There is no hurry using them when the new lands and rides are still under construction, at a busy august period, and when we're still passholders at Universal. I could even offer them to family or friends (for free, it's not a question of money.) or use them at a quieter period, some time in the next 14 years.
Without being nasty I think your view is still clouded by your last experience and if you were to relax and go with the flow you will find it much better.
you're not being nasty. You're 100% on target.
I will be honest with you.
I had booked 9 nights POP Century with one free night, total was 1250€ (£960)
Yesteraday I saw that I could get Port Orleans Riverside, through Cheaptickets for $1391 (£965)
Okay I'll pay £150 cancellation fee. But I would have paid £50 to amend anyway. So I'm actually only losing £100 in the process
so for the sake of £11 per night I get to upgrade from POP to POR ...
no brainer
yes that's another one more last chance, but I'd rather spend this last chance at POR (our fav resort) than at POP (our second favorite resort) especially when I can get POR at the same price
so, you're right, I was "blinded by anger" (ain't that a bit strong ?) but sometimes acting on impulse allows not to think too much. If I had given it second thoughts, I probably would have missed the cheaptickets deal that ends today.
