We talk too much....

isn't Big Lots great? We've bought a lot of stuff there over the years. We also got an EXCELLENT deal on our furniture b/c we got it on Friends and Family night. We had been eyeing it for a while and then when we found out about the F&F night I went to the store right before it closed for the day (except for F&F) and SAT THERE on the couch we wanted so that JUST IN CASE it was their last one left and I did NOT intend on leaving that store without that furniture or at least a receipt for it with a nice big tag that says SOLD on the sofa. :rotfl:

Mike had to work that night...and I had to purchase so we could pick up later. But I was SO EAGER to get that furniture home that it killed me! You shoulda seen the nasty old thing we had before. It was a thrift store couch. And not that all thrift store couches are nasty, but this one was---we had a make-shift cover over it at that point in time. Were SO happy to get rid of it!

:lmao: I can just see you sprawling yourself over the couch and making yourself as long as possible to make sure everyone knew that thing was going home with you. Even if you did have to pick it up later. That's so cool that you got such a great deal on it. Wish I was as much as a savvy shopper as you. :thumbsup2

oh man. I'm sure you were glad to see that thrift store couch go!! I would have been too. I was glad to see the couch we got from my In Laws go. Let alone a thrift store couch :scared:

We had one not 5 minutes from out house, but they closed it... and Ashley's Furniture took its place. Bit ironic. Big Lots does the renting stuff too? I didn't mean Tuesday morning for furniture sorry, I meant for just nifty stuff in general. It's right next to one of the 1st Choice stores, so that's why I thought about it. I love all their home decorative stuff.

oh okay

no, BL doesn't rent anything out. I was referring to buying...I hope you'll at least consider

Too funny not to share!

  • Each costume was handtailored with period techniques.
  • The Lincoln figure is a simplified remake of an ambitious, though problematic, creation that debuted at the 1964 World's Fair. Whenever there was a spike in current, Disney's first Abe would flail its arms, hit itself repeatedly in the head and then slam down in its chair.

:rotfl2:

So, it looks like none of us need to buy this book. Carla will tell us everything that's in it! :thumbsup2

popcorn:: More please!

I bet. We're using the couches that the pervious owner had left in the trailer. They are in great condition. Just really old, ugly, and Very uncomfortable.

We just can't afford to buy any pig furniture items at the moment. And probably not any time in the quite near future either. We have a pretty hefty note on our trailer since there is no land attached to it. Plus insurance for us on just one vehicle is astronomical right now.

  • The hearse was built during the Civil War. It appeared in the 1965 John Wayne film "The Sons of Katie Elder."
  • The interior design of the mansion comes from the 1874 Harry Packer home in Jim Thorpe, Penn.
  • The ride's only song, "Grim Grinning Ghosts," is performed in eight styles, including a dirge that plays as you walk in.
  • The dust-like substance is made from fuller's earth, an ingredient in kitty litter.
  • Except for a few books, the library bookcase is a flat, painted backdrop.
  • So is theh ballroom's rear wall, including its molding and woodwork.
  • The woman in the crystal ball is known to Disneyphiles as Madame Leota. The name is a referance to Leota Toombs, an otherwise unknown 1960s Disney modelmaker whose face appears as the spiritualist. Tooms also provided the face, and voice, of the tiny bride in the crypt.
  • You never go in the home. The entire 960-foot ride takes place in a nondescript building behind the mansion facade

It's hard when you are strapped for money. You gotta do what you gotta do. Maybe check out the thrift store like mike and cheri did before you rent anything

:goodvibes that's me!!!!

yeah that was pre-house buying. Thankfully we had bought all our nicer furniture (except the kitchen table) BEFORE buying a house, because that would have been hard to do afterwards. Our furniture fits pretty well in the house, too. I'm glad we have a BIG bedroom since we have a king sized bed!

Okay I take that back, sorta. We did go back and get the Chest of Drawers for our bedroom after we moved into the house. The room at the old house would not have fit it so that's why we never got it that same night (oh did I mention our BR furniture was from BL too!--- on ANOTHER friends and family nite the year after we got our living room furniture!!! :rotfl: :thumbsup2 )

I forgot to mention F&F nite means 20% off. We couldn't pass it up!

I know you said Buddy wanted to try the shooting arcade in Adventureland. Well, I just read that "Each shootin' arcade gun is loaded with a secret free round to start the day". So try to get to MK early and run to the arcade so you don't have to pay for him to play :goodvibes

I just can't type. I admit it!

That's what me and Buddy were talking about last night. I was saying as much as I want to go to disney, the money could be easily be spent better in the house, just on updating things. But then he said we wouldn't be able to go even for a long weekend till our honeymoon next year and next sept.... I said..... We can get alot of the updated things as wedding presents! Yeah, that's what we'll do...... no skippy on the Disney.

Haha. I saw that in one of the "best kept secrets" threads. I was going to make him go play with while I rode HM since he's a scaredy.

ahh. that is tough. I'd go with Carla's idea.

oh thank goodness. Moving furniture you don't like into a house you love is never fun. It's always nice when your furniture fits perfectly in your house. I had to re-arrange my living room quite a few times to finally get it the way I like. And now that I have it in a good position, we are about to put the house up for sale. Go figure.

:lmao: how did you keep anyone from buying that furniture out from under you? Climb on top? :rotfl:

Yeah, I like the first one about the hearse. I gotta tell Chris that. My grandfather's favorite movies are John Wayne flicks. He has them ALL on VHS...yeah....VHS :rotfl:

I don't have any desire to do the shootin' arcade. I figure I'm paying enough money at Disney to have to pay for something extra....besides alcohol :rolleyes1

Mike was with me that time :thumbsup2

  • The drop is 52 feet
  • The logs reach 40 mph on the final drop, making the fall the fastest Magic Kingdom moment.
  • The ride uses 956,000 gallons of water, which is recycled every four minutes
  • In 1993, Great Britain's Princes William and Harry, then ages 11 and 8, visited the park with their mother, Princess Diana. Splash Mountain was William's favorite ride, so the group rode it three times
  • "Brer" is slang for "Brother."
  • Because of the movie's racial overtones, Disney does not market "Song of the South" on DVDs

cool! I knew about that last one.

Didn't know Brer meant Brother. So does that mean Brother Bear is a copyright infringement? :rotfl:
