Just returned from 1/7 to 1/13 stay.....YES it was cold!
Crowds were ok, marathon was a little annoying and inconvenient [c'mon, through the MIDDLE of the park when it is OPEN?], hotel was passable.....
Stayed at Movies, which wasn't as nice as POP, where we stayed last year. I liked the food court better at POP and the rooms seemed a little nicer.....maybe because they are newer? Also, POP has its own buses....I didn't enjoy sharing with the other All-Star resorts, particularly when we were on the end of the line when it was 30 degrees out!
Service was good at the parks, even in the cold!
EMH @ MK was the best....managed to ride 8 rides in < 1 hour including a couple on Pirates and Mansion! So, the cold killed off the crowd, which was nice.
Few interesting things:
Only 1 CM knew who George was on Pirates, and she didn't know the whole story. However, I did have a small crowd by the time I finished the story, which was cool.
I couldn't find "I Made Magic Today" stickers anywhere! However, we did score a lot of Mickey stickers and other character stickers along the way to give out to people. There are character stickers for the Disney Vacation Club, if you can get them!
2 CM's at American Adventure told me that despite what I had read, the flag recovered from the twin towers after 9/11 has NEVER been displayed there.
I caught our server off guard at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall! He brought out our dessert and I pointed out that the apple cobbler and ice cream scoops were presented in the shape of a hidden mickey. He just winked at me and said "niiiice" in his thick accent!
I think I annoyed the other people on COP when I recited the entire script word for word......oh well.
Finally....had a nice conversation over a few cigarettes with other guests. Particularly when the gentleman from Brazil brought out a fresh bottle of Jack Daniels to share in the cold weather!
Good trip overall, planning a grand gathering next. Going to take a few years off in the meantime.........
