About the DCA entrance closing....

I'm wondering if this is partly due to lack of use...but also partly due to future Disneyland Forward plans. I suspect, and I hope, if the park expansions on the west side happen, there will be entrances into the new areas of the parks. So maybe they are thinking why bother with this under-used entrance when, in the future, the Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier hotel will likely have their own entrances into the parks.

It was used especially during EE.

Then why did they spend $$$ putting in the new entry scanner and machines?

Hey friends! I’m wondering if you can advise on typical availability trends for Grand Cal. I’ve checked the historical availability charts and it seems like 1 bedrooms typically *are* available at 7 months. But I also feel like I’ve heard a lot of stories of how it’s really difficult to book here if it’s not a home resort.
Wondering if you have any thoughts on this as I plan our trip for next summer.
Thanks for your help!

Lots of variables, like days of the week, how many day in a row, time of year. But still chances are slim.

Before I bought there, I was able to get a 1 bedroom at 7 months, even for D23 week. Studios are difficult, which is why I bought there.

I didn't realize they had done that. When??

During EE/Rope Drop it was backed up to the street lights.

Wow. I didn't know because I'm always in bed still. 🤣

I saw that. It's going to be a tough sell. I'm assuming that they are underwater.

Edit to add: Good grief I also see one for only $10. less per point than direct. 😮

Yeah...if this continues, not sure I see us wanting to buy more VGC points at all. Of course, who knows how things will look in a year or two. But if it's like this...I think purchasing the additional points we want at VDH instead would make more sense.

We just added on at VGC. Missed the opportunity when it first opened :( So we have been waiting and finally pulled the trigger. Our first trip is in February so we will not have EE. Kinda bummed about it since it was the way we got to ride RSR without buying LLSP. All the negative comments have me thinking I should have just added on at VDH instead. VDH is great, but the walk for us can be killer at the end of the day! And the views are really hit or miss, mostly miss! On our last trip the Monorail was down so walking was the only way to go. We bought into VCG because of location and theming. We stayed there years ago before DVC opened and had a blast. Easy access to DCA, Great view of the park. Pretty great time.

Do all the gates inside of VCG get backed up? How do you regulars approach getting into Downtown Disney or DCA? Now that the PP gate is closing how much extra pressure will there be? Any tips to a newbie would be appreciated.

Remember, VGC has the potential of views like this….
