We pulled off the Christmas Surprise!

Too Cute!!! I love their reaction! The little one said,"are we going today, tomorrow, when?". The oldest said, "do you have money?". Thanks for sharing! This was great! We are taking our 3 boys there in May and we've been thinking of ways to surprise them.

Enjoy your trip!!!!!:goodvibes

Thanks for sharing. That was cute! It definitely gave me an idea. Though I will have to do it the day before just so my kids can contain themselves.

Thanks for sharing your video, I loved it! We surprised our kids on Christmas too, but our kids are teenagers!! They still love it though...what I did was wrapped gifts within a big box..since they are older, we had to try and confuse them as much as possible...we waited for a couple of hours after we opened the rest of our gifts, and then told them we needed to discuss divying up chores since we were inviting their grandparents over for dinner later. We asked them to come back to the living room where the tree is...my husband brought down the big box wrapped in Disney wrap, that was further disguised in a LARGE bag. After a few minutes of discussing chores to get done, my husband said "what is this big bag behind the tree, you guys must have forgot one!" They looked puzzled, but they put it in the middle of the floor and started unwrapping it..I had ordered tshirts that were on sale from disney.com for all of us in different colors, and I had us open them at the same time. I had a small disney bag for all of us individually to open with a disney pin inside that I had bought last summer! They were so amazed that I had saved them that long...our son's was a Jack Skellington (sp?) character with a skateboard, our daughter's was M & M standing in front of the castle (she told me she loved it when we were there, but didn't remember when she got it!) my husband's was a popcorn/Mickey bar, and mine was a Captain EO! This one was what really started getting them suspicious..it was a dancing/singing Santa Mickey with $25 gift cards each for the kids...I had given my husband a $50 one in his stocking, but he didn't show it to anyone until later because he didn't want to make them wonder. By then, the kids were like...hmmm...what do we do with these? I tried to throw them off by saying, "you can order online" ha ha!! :rotfl2: Please!! :rotfl: I also wrapped a DK Eyewitness Travel book on California...Anyway, the 2nd to the last was the actual printout from the airline with our reservations, which I made them open together, (I had it folded in 1/2) and then the cat was out of the bag! They sat there stunned for a few minutes then got excited and ran up to hug us! What a great feeling!! The last thing was a gift bag full of an old Passporter guide book, brochures/magazines from our past trips (yes I save them) a Disney Cruise line note pad and other assorted Disney things like a cd full of music! It was the best Christmas ever!! I love surprising them, even at this age!!

I loved the video Carla, and you can tell the kids were thrilled with the surprise. I'm being downright evil by not letting our kids know till the day of departure on our trip to the mouse the end of next month:rolleyes1. Haven't decided if we are going to let them know just before we get in the van, or in the van waiting to cross the border into the good old USA. I've got a pirate theme going (ARR!), and am looking forward to going to visit the mouse againpirate:pirate:pirate:. I've also got booked a character breakfast for a couple days after we get to Anaheim as a surprise as a family. Since my loving DH let me go to DL solo for 9 days in Oct, I wanted to do something nice for the family in return. I've got a good cover story as to why I'm pulling the kids out of school for 2 weeks. The teachers know, but are not letting the kids in on what we are up to. Plotting and scheming against the kids, just one of the services I offer my family:cheer2::cheer2:.

Such a cute video. Love the "do you have the money?" and your response to your youngest about her being tall enough! What a great Christmas!

I loved that! Your girls remind me of my girls, they just turned 9 and 4. :goodvibes

Thanks everyone! It was a ton of fun and I'm so glad I video'd it. We can watch that for years and remember how much fun we had.

yupikgal, that sounds like so much fun! They must have been so excited... being teenagers definitely doesn't make it any less exciting than being 3 and 8 (or 31... ;)). I hope you have a wonderful time!

Trish, you have to let me know how your surprise went when you get back. I can't imagine how much MORE exciting to not just find out you're going but to find out you're going at that moment! Wow!

That was so sweet!!! Your girls are adorable and you are awesome parents!! Your oldest definitely looked like she was in shock! I hope you have a fantastic time :goodvibes

So glad it worked out! I never thought the suprise could be so fun because I had seen/heard so many mixed reactions from kids. We were able to pull off the suprise this month too... Because we had to wake up DS so early and to avoid a mixed reaction we told DS we were going to the mall and might see Santa and didn't tell him until he saw airport signs. His reaction was so fun, I wished we would have recorded it better than just the dark little video I got on my iphone.

AlexJanessa, thanks, you are right about that! I'm super excited and I'm 40+! ;) They were very excited (and surprised) for sure! AMommy, thanks for the link to your trip report! How exciting! My daughter is wanting to get Duffy the Bear, so I was glad to see that in your report! Did you say that you got to see him in person too? I wonder if he is in the meet/greet areas?

Awww, that is so cute!! Thanks for sharing. My kids are big now and I really regret not taking a video of their reactions when we would surprise them...

The funny thing is that my too-cool-for-his-parents 14 year old just asked me the other day if I was going to surprise them and take them to DLR, :goodvibes Even though they don't act like it, kids do remember the good times....

Have fun!!

I love your youngest's reaction to getting to eat breakfast with Mickey and Minnie!

This was so fun- thank you so much for sharing! :goodvibes

Thanks for sharing. I wish I could keep a secret like that. I am always popping up with idea's and I love talking about them with my boys to get their input.
