We now call it Fitness-land...

I love how much walking there is at Disneyland! The more times we go, the more we get used to all the walking. As long as we change shoes frequently, our legs and feet rarely get too sore or tired. I always thought that Disneyland would be a fun place to workout - power walking through the park (no running, remember!) for exercise and then riding a couple rides at the end as a reward! One can dream, right?!

If you have dvc or stay on property they actually have a power walk though the park before opening. It's usually around sunrise. It's kind of fun to be there without people.

I've heard of that! I think it's only in California Adventure, right? Walking in the early morning in the Grizzly Peak area with all the trees and water rushing by from Grizzly River Rapids would be spectacular! It sounds like a lot of fun!

I wonder if they would notice if you "power walked" in front of Radiator Springs Racers right before opening and were the first to hop on before the rope drop crowds? lol ;)

Oh they'd notice. Since it's mostly dvc and hotel and it's early you usually only get your party. I think once I had two other people join. Would be nice to be a RSR literally first. One could dream.

Hahaha! I figured! I wonder how they clear people from doing that - you would think people would have tried it by now.

Anyway, still a really nice perk of staying on-site or having DVC, though!

DCA used to have a morning tour before the magic hour. I liked doing it cause you'd be first on soarin when it still had orange smells Plus it was free and the trivia was fun. FYI in front soarin really is an faa registered runway.

Typically 28k-30k per day, feet definitely feel it by the end of the night with kids (5 and 8). Did some serious walk training in advance for myself and the kids to avoid issues, worked really well as there was very little whining (unlike the training).

My personal record was 36k steps on a Saturday without, wife cleared 40k+ on race days with the Tink run. Honestly, the standing around hurts my feet more than the steps do. On a longer trip than a 5 day pass, I'd for sure take it a bit easier just to make sure we lasted the whole trip.

I'm so glad to hear this, because I intend to EAT when we're there! I don't eat a lot normally, but all the food posts here have me wanting turkey legs and dole whips and corn dogs and we have BB reservations and chef's counter reservations and Carthay reservations and I need a chili cone and a ghiardelli milk shake and lobster nachos and a pastry from Carnation Cafe....
I'm convinced the amount of walking I did was the reason I was so hungry. We average between 8-9 miles of walking a day at DLR.

We average 13-14 miles a day when at the parks. We are usually there from opening until 10-11PM because our 6 year old starts to get sleepy. I was really worried about the boys keeping up with us, but we usually walk a lot at home and they have done really well at the parks. They never even ask for us to carry them or complain about their feet. We just make sure to tell them to let us know if they get tired and we can stop and take a break. They are pretty good at letting us know if they need a break.
