We are in the "14th hour" of deciding whether to purchase a DVC at SSR or be placed on a waiting list for the BCR. Our discussion centers around a convenient location, BCR with moderately higher cost vs. a more secluded location, SSR at a lower cost. I see is BCR conveniently located to EPCOT and MGM but more of a challenge to the Magic Kingdom. SSR would always be a bus ride to the theme parks. Also, we tend to travel to WDW during the off- seasons for three/four days twice a year. We are open to everyone advice. Thank you. :confused3

It comes down to a matter of personal preference - only you know what is most important to your family.

Since it seems the resorts are fairly equal in your eyes as far as location, ask yourself if the extra 12 years at SSR are worth more than access to SAB (pool at BC/YC/BCV complex)? Since SSR is so much bigger than BCV, you will almost surely be able to stay at SSR by reserving at the 7 month mark - an argument for BCV as home resort becasue there will be times where you will not get into the BCV at the 7 month mark).

Good luck with your decision!

Choosing the resort can be so personal! But financially - you'll get the 12 extra years at SSR, also the maintenance fees are less - and those really add up over the life of the contract!

We were in the same boat as you a couple months ago before we decided. We knew we wanted to buy through Disney since it was faster and we had several trips coming up that we wanted to reserve DVC, and the closing costs at resale only made the price a few hundred dollars difference...and I decided the convenience of buying through Disney was worth the small amount of $$ extra.

That said, we decided to go with SSR for the extra 12 years for less money and lower maintenance fees. It just made more sense for us that way. With my DH's line of work we can almost never reserve even 7 months out.....so our home resort doesn't matter, at least for now. If our home resort starts to matter more, I might be tempted to do an add-on, but for us, that kind of predictability is rather far off. :(
