We need to break up. It's not you. It's me.

I can kind of understand where the OP is coming from. I was browsing through thread titles this morning and thinking back about how stress free it used to be to plan a Disney vacation. We didn't know if there was construction at the resort, or if a ride was being refurbished until we arrived. We had old fashioned metal keys that went in metal locks (remember the ones at CR shaped like CR?) so the door always opened. We had to show resort ID to use transportation, and it was never crowded. I remember when everything was spontaneous, and nothing was planned but maybe your hotel reservation.

Did we get a surprise every now and then? Sure. I remember quite a few, but I don't remember hearing any one complaining about it. Everyone just kind of went with the flow, and had a great time, and we didn't stress before, during, or after. If the lobby was torn apart for a rehab, or the pool had been torn out for a replacement, we dealt with it and didn't allow it to ruin our trip in the slightest. Sometimes it seems like these days the smallest thing can get blown way out of proportion (not just Disney).

So sometimes, when there are a lot of negative threads, I miss those days when there was a lot less knowledge and a little more magic pixiedust:.

I started going in the late 80s and I dont ever recall a time like you described until FP came along. I remember as a teen being dragged out of bed bc we had to take the bus from the Grovesnor on Idrive so we could be there in time for rope drop. I remember later in the day waiting in long lines. Then I went later in the early 90s and it was more of the same waiting in 2 hour long lines for Splash in melting FL sun. DH and I swore we would never go back. DS came along in 1997, we went in 2002, and read a guide book about FP, and we fell in love with the place! SO the fact that WDW is messing with FP now, and I am not sure it is for the best, I am going to keep a close eye on threads, aprreciate people's honesty, and give my own feedback from my trip. I want the TRUTH, I dont want pixied dusted posts who dont give me the real low down.

I think some have missed the OP's point. Some of us are looking for valid info on planning. It's very difficult when you have to wade through threads of bickering back and forth or redundant threads like FP+. I get it, people want to complain. May be have a complaint board...I believe that has come up more than once. All the op did was....voice her complaint. :confused3

The FP thread ARE valid info on planning...color me confused.

All the OP did was voice her complaint...well so are the rest of the posters who she is complaining about!

It sounds like a break would be a good thing for the OP. In looking at her recent posts, 4 of the first 7 that come up are complaints about complaints.

OP, I hope you find a board you are happy with. Although, I do concur with the suggestion to try out the trip reports section here. It's full of great positive stories.

Yep, I noticed that too. Telling people they "can't be serious" and to rethink a WDW vacation if they are annoyed (w regards to the crowding at MVMCP) etc..

All the regulars she's probably referring to didn't shy away from replying to the thread, did they? lol

Baby come back! You can blame it all on me....

I was wrong, and I just can't live with Fastpass....

I mean, without you......

Really OT here....

But do you know who the lead singer of this song is?
Ridge Forrester from the Bold and the Beautiful! ::yes::

I don't know about anyone else but I find the bantering that goes on here to be highly entertaining! I love checking up on this board in the morning with my cup of tea and see what hilarity I have missed. If I really need information, I just head for the stickies.

Wow. I firmly believe that the people here must troll threads looking to post snarky, off topic and hypocritical comments. Heaven help the new posters.

All of these adjectives could easily apply to Post #1, no?

The good thing with DIS is that you can pick and choose what forums to look at and what threads to open and read. If you still want the magic of Disney you can always just read forums like Trip Planning and Trip Reports!

No. It's more like people here have trouble tolerating others who post self aggrandizing, snarky, off topic and hypocritical comments. Most new posters do not fit this description.

why wasnt the OP's post considered trolling, snarky, off topic and hypocritical???? That is how I see it. It certainly did not help me with theme park planning like the "negative" FP threads, so I would know about tiering and glitches etc.

It comes down to choices.

I've been going since 1971, so my memories of WDW go back a little farther than yours, that's all. Some of my fondest memories of those early trips with the ticket books was all of us sitting around a shaded table somewhere deciding what to do next based on what tickets we had left. The lines for the attractions didn't start to get bad until Disney went to the all inclusive ticket when Epcot opened. Once people had unlimited access, they wanted to squeeze as much as possible into their day and only ride their few favorite attractions. Not saying that was wrong - but it made for a totally different scenario in the parks.

The longer a person has been going to WDW, the more changes we have seen, and the more we understand that change will be inevitable - some good and some bad as well. If I don't like what they are doing now, a year or two down the road something will change again and I may like that better.

I agree that the boards are good only if we get truthful feedback from our fellow visitors. It just feels like there are so many threads right now from people in a panic who haven't experienced the changes first hand, and a lot of the replies are speculation from other people who haven't experienced the changes first hand. I know the board is a place for everyone to trade information - but it just seems like there has been a lot more negativity lately from people who haven't even tried the new system yet. I've tried it on two trips now, and although I had a lot of glitches on the first trip, the second one went fine.

In a way, the new system is circling back to the old ticket book system in that you have tiered levels of attractions and they are trying to evenly disburse the crowds between them. The big difference was that if you had three E tickets in your book, you could use them all for one attraction, if you wanted to, and you could buy additional individual tickets as well. Since we're still in the test and adjust phase it's possible the final FP+ product could end up the same in the end. We just don't know that yet. The fact that there is so much wording about how it may depend on the time of year, time of day, overall demand, etc. tells me that Disney wants to keep it flexible so if something isn't working they can change it right away.

My issue is that they kept the "all-inclusive" pricing but now want to revert the benefits back to the old ticket book system.

And I'm just oh so weary of hearing people say you can't have an opinion until you've risked thousands of dollars to try it in person.

I can agree that maybe you need to try the magic band in person to know if you'd like it. But how hard is it to know you won't like 3 tiered fastpasses with no duplicates? Anyone who has been to Disney a few times knows what they like. They know if there are enough things they won't have a fastpass for that they will enjoy enough to fill in for the headliners they used to ride. They know what the wait times are like on the rides in the parks. They know how long in the parks doing favorite attractions it will take for them to feel like they got value for what they spent.

I think the "you must try it in person before you can have an opinion" approach is just a way of discounting the opinion of some very knowledgeable and experienced park goers.

I have to agree with this...

my opinion on the MB/FP+ has changed as each new change has been introduced. When this was first announced, I thought how cool I can book some rides from home ahead of time and then pull more day of. Well that changed when they limited 3 a day in one park....it made us rethink how we park hop, and we are big hoppers. Then they started tiering...are you serious, we like to pull FPs for the same rides sometimes, I dont have to be there to experience that. So ALL of these opinions before I ever step foot in the park.

Now my family went 12/4 through 12/10 and guess what I still have some of the same concerns as before I went...shocker! We had no glitches, but we did see TSMM FPs been all distributed by 9:25am. We got in before tiering and we were able to double dip...so it was great! But guess what...I realize that this is not going to continue so I am concerned DESPITE the fact that my family has participated in the test.

I find the discussion btw WDW veterans fascinating, even the negative, they know the place inside and out and can see how this is all going to impact the park, and I stand by the fact that I can have opinion about the changes and I am super glad that it is being discussed so I was well prepared for our trip and hopefully can help my friend who is staying offsite for her Jan trip.

Please keep the FP threads alive!!!!!!

Whats that saying, "The guilty dog barks first and/or loudest"?

No surprise here that the usual suspects that are loudest about their dislike for all things FP+ all came together to bash the OP.

I would say a good 95% of the FP+ threads are just the same arguments rehashed over and over again. There is no new info on most of those threads where the same 10 or so people all show up to complain about FP+, speculate how disastrous it will be, minimize people's positive experiences with FP+, etc, etc, etc. These threads usually grow so large that people looking for real info/updates have to wade their way through pages of gloom and how incompetent Disney is.

As a side note, it is amazing that AK did not close down with their testing of FP+ only.... See, even the most experienced of park goers have faulty predictions. But of course when they are wrong, they will go back and edit previous posts and rationalize and try to show where they were still right.

I dont blame the OP for leaving but do not think they should have made this post. It is in the vein of a YAGE(yet another grand exit). This thread just opened the door for the malcontents to make this into another "why we hate FP+" thread.

I am also sure we will get some picture postings on this thread and maybe if we are lucky, someone will post another patent where they can draw biased conclusions from.... one can only dream

And many of the usual suspects from the other side of the debate are here to bash us non FP+fans...including you! Surprise, surprise!

I am glad the AK test was a success...why bc I would not like to see people's vacations compromised bc of WDW testing all of this on the vacationer's dime. I do however think they picked a slow week to do it, and they probably had staff galore to handle the crowds...will it always be like that, I doubt that they want to have that level of staffing going forward.

I am also glad it was a success bc maybe they will see that tiering is not necessary.

But once again I hope they listen to the feedback that 3 are not enough, most people are not fans of tiering, and that you need to be able to book in more than one park!

Once again I think a true test will be this week, but it is not a true test if they are going to have mucho staffing there to help people. But once again I hope things go smoothly for all those vacationing right now:wizard:

It is in the vein of a YAGE(yet another grand exit).

I never put much faith into the YAGE posts. It seems they always come back under another user name. And it's usually hard to miss them.
