Our Whirlpool set is 11 years old, and the washer leaks constantly now. It's to the point where we have to put beach towels down so our laundry room doesn't flood when we wash a load of clothes.

We are going to look at new sets this weekend. Would love hear about what you have that you love....or ones to totally avoid. I want a washer that is wonderful from the most delicate clothing to a king sized mattress cover.

Thanks!! :surfweb:

Sorry - This is posted on the wrong board. Not sure how to move it to the Community Board.

I'd find out where the leak is from, my pump had a small crack and caused a leak when it ran. The pump cost less then $40 and took like 3 minutes to replace with basic hand tools...

Here is a good resource I use for my appliance fixings: http://fixitnow.com/

Be aware newer appliances are more costly to repair, and have a much shorter life span, gone are the days of getting 10+ years out of a washer…

Thanks! I'll have DH check the website out and see if it's possible to repair before buying a new set. We really don't want to have to buy them right now.

If you do need new ones, see if you can grit your teeth (and use the beach towels) a couple weeks longer, There are often good holiday sales around July 4th.

We have the Whirlpool Cabrio low-water usage high efficiency washer & dryer. Our clothes come out cleaner than before - and very fluffy. You will love it! :goodvibes

The washer is standard top-loading, the dryer is the standard look also. But the performance is higher than expected.

We really like our Samsung front loaders. We went and purchased the cheapest Samsung that was available. We are a family of 6 and got the 4.0 cubic foot washer. I was concerned that it was too small but you would be surprised at how much you can put into the washer. A family of 4 could easily go with the 3.5 cubic foot washer. You can save big dollars by going with the 3.5 or 4.0 washer. You don't need the steam washers. The base models clean your clothes so well you don't need the steam. The bottom line is that you don't need to spend 3K-4k for a top of the line front loader set. You should be able to get a nice set for 1.5K or less. I spent lots of time researching before purchasing and have no regrets on the Samsung.
