We need a Bachelorette thread!

I LOVE Andi. I think she is pretty genuine and to me it looks like she has a nice group of guys. Can't wait to see it all unfold! haha

I find this so interesting, NAB. No sarcasm, just interesting.

It's one thing for a man to see a woman and just know. Many talk that way. My own father did with my mom and they will be 58 years this year. But for everyone in his life to state it and babies too - smiling.

I think that his family just supported him and told him he had this one, why wouldn't she want him in their minds. That is what I meant. Just like the other guy said he was embarrassed that he got booted off already and was even on the show. His friends thought he had this too so he should go on the show.

That is why the Lawyers comment to me didn't bother me. I'm sure there are others on there for other reasons and some believe this is it. We see that all the time with them crying just like the girls.

I just watched it taped, yesterday. I had fun watching the guys come out so I could cross them off or give a thumbs up based on what we know about her.

1. She's smart.
2. She's close to her family
3. They are huge UGA football fans so she will most likely be attracted to a manly man than a slim, girly man.

There were about 4 guys that made the list. ;) And there were at least 3 who came across as possibly a man's man ..in another way. I found myself sympathizing with Eric Hill's family, thinking how hard it must be watching their son...and yet, wonderful seeing him again.

Several of the guys aren't as successful as her and I wonder if she would find that harder to accept.

I like this girl. She's no nonsense. :thumbsup2

Loved her dress and I like some of the guys she kept around.

I can not stand the way she says y'all. It seemed so unnatural and fake to me. I don't think I've ever heard her say it and she said it like 5 times right before the rose ceremony. It was like nails on a chalk board to me! Did anyone else notice this or was it just me?

Fake? Nope....I live in Atlanta and, honestly, anyone who was born here generally uses 'y'all' to mean you + 1 when addressing a group. It's normal and completely accepted here even in a professional setting.

What else would she say? You guys? That's more of a northern expression.
You all? She did but in her own cultural vernacular.

Sorry it sounds like 'nails on a chalkboard' to you. Good thing she wasn't saying things like 'it's hotter'n all git-out' or "he was so got away with!' because we say those things too. :)

Sorry, my GAYdar went off a couple of times last night...:rolleyes1

Especially the two jerks with the cars. When he went over and sat next to him... I thought he was going to french kiss him... popcorn::

Give me the FARMER!! I am SO not the farmer type but I love his work ethic and his brains. And the dimples don't hurt, either....:cool2:

This. I wonder if the show employees are just going out looking for good looking men in the California area as 'fill' guys. Whether they are straight or not. A lot of guys would just like the idea of being 'famous' or maybe they want to model. Who knows. All I know is about 4 of these guys came across as gay and I saw a picture of one and it's pretty obvious he is walking in a gay parade. I like this girl.

I don't think she's all that "successful." She is barely out of law school, and worked as a prosecutor. Generally speaking, these are NOT considered "cream of the crop" law jobs....the pay is pretty low (less than $60-70K...and probably less than $50K)). Considering the kind of debt the average lawyer has assumed to get that degree, that is not exactly rolling in the dough or hugely successful. Can she pay her bills? I'm sure. But, there is a reason she was willing to resign her job to take this Bachelorette gig....it's MUCH better paying.

Thanks NAB.

Yes, there was quite the pick of probable gay men. And reading your post, true - who knows. That's crap for Andi but she's smart so if they are gay, she'll see it I'm sure.

Finally watched last night. I wasn't sure if I would like Andi as the Bachelorette, but so far so good.

I liked Marcus (the one who spoke a little German & Polish), and I thought the cookie tasting was a cute idea (Marquel). Cody (the personal trainer) is a typical meathead. I find Brett (the hairstylist) cute for some reason, but he also pings my gaydar. :scratchin

I was surprised to see a contestant from my hometown of Citrus Heights, CA, and shocked to learn he was the one who passed away (Eric). What a shame. He was cute and seemed like a nice guy. He was my favorite one of the night.

It wasn't the y'all word so much, it just didn't seem natural to me, more forced. I love accents.

I hope I didn't offend you, certainly didn't mean to.

I figured it was staged drama and I call BS on him waiting around the mansion for 7 days. I loved how Chris H back peddled when Andi said she didn't think it was fair to the other guys.

Totally staged drama. :sad2: I wish they would hire REAL actors if they are going to do that stuff. Come on, there has to be actors wanting a moment of fame from being on the show, so why not do these staged dramas with them? :p

Swore I wasn't going to watch this season because I didn't really like Andi last season, and I ALWAYS end up liking the recycled Bachelors/Bachelorettes less when they get their own show. But my DD sent me a Bachelorette BIngo board, and I got suckered in. :) (Apparently, it doesn't take much to suck me in...again.) So far Andi is coming off pretty well, considering (considering it's a stupid show). Typical scripted-looking drama in the previews for the season, so I'm not expecting much, but at least she can carry on a decent conversation.

I have to catch up on this thread, but I did see "gaydar" comments, and I have to admit, mine went off too. Can't remember who exactly, but we'll see how it goes.

Terrible terrible shame about Eric. He seemed like a really nice guy. :(

My favorite at this point is Marquel. Seems super nice and definitely easy on the eyes. :) The editing in the previews make it appear that he might get in the middle of some drama, but I hope he's not one of the jerks in those situations. I hate when I really like someone who ends up being an ***! If he doesn't win, I think he'd make a good Bachelor, since there have been complaints in the past about the absence of black Bachelors/Bachelorettes.

Here's a link to a blog with a brief update on each of the "winners" of Bachelor Seasons. Apparently Courtney (of Neanderthal Ben's season) has a book  coming out in June. Looking forward to reading the reviews on Amazon. ;) :p

Marquel was a favorite for me too. Imagine that ;) I, too, am hoping that he does not turn out to be a jerk.

I hate when one of the former contestants comes in and thinks they can just come back. She made a good choice by saying no. But I do like seeing some of the background stuff set up that we never see.

Of course it looks like we are going to have a ton of drama again this season with the guys.
Kudos to her for not letting that guy come back.

I'm watching again even though I've told everyone that I wouldn't. I really don't understand where they find some of these guys. :confused3

I like Marquel and have wondered why they haven't had a black bachelor/bachelorette.

Can anyone tell me how Eric died?

I should have kept notes on all the guys as they exited the limo. Did she keep the very first guy that she called "hot"?

I'm not so sure about the farmer. I don't like his teeth.

Ever since they announced Andi as the Bachelorette, I've feared that the producers may set her up for a scenario where she gets called out for the same kind of stuff as Juan Pablo as a sort of "gotcha" plotline. They had her talk over and over and over again about Juan Pablo's insincerity and how she would do things so differently that it just seemed to me that they were setting her up for a fall.

Of course, this is probably because I watch far too much reality TV and it makes me super cynical. :lmao: Maybe this time we will just get a love story.

I wonder why they didn't show clips of them in their hometowns? I always like those and you get a better feel for who is who.

I wondered about that too. And also, the whole first night, getting to know the bachelors at the cocktail party was all different, I thought-they'd show fast clips of her with one of the bachelors, but not show his name. And there were lots o bachelors I totally missed seeing her with. It just seemed to go faster than usual. Didn't the first episode used to be 2 hours? This time it was an hour and a half.

I did notice that she threw the y'all ball too many times... :lmao:

Both of my parents are from the South and they said y'all all my life. I moved to Atlanta in 1986. Even I felt it was a bit forced :confused3. Almost as if she wanted to emphasize her culture or maybe she was a bit nervous.

I even felt the way she handed out the roses was so quick. She called a name, that person walked towards her to receive a rose, and then they cut to her calling out another name. They really didn't show hugs after receiving a rose or the men walking back to the group.

It kind of reminded me being on a factory production line.....maybe she was thinking......I gotta call out 20 names in less then a minute or I'll be fired (or lose my Bachelorette title). :lmao:

My son had to interview someone from the court system for his criminal justice course in college. He interviewed an ADA from Gwinnett County, which is another county near Atlanta. He was surprised that she admitted that they made, considering, so little money. Even she made the remark about school loans versus the salary.

It's hard to get a job as a lawyer anywhere. She's no doubt fairly efficient and professional.
