We Miss the Flowers! An April 2016 PTR

22 Days!!!!

I have 22 days to get ready! The biggest issue is that for the first time in a few years I'm working the entire time leading up to it which is...new for me. Actually I've never left directly from work to go on a trip like this before! Even when I was living in Europe or even the last time I went to Disney during the school year, I left on Saturday so I had Friday night to clean and pack.

So, this is a new experience for me.

So here's basically what I need to show up:
- my new pair of ears (shipped)
- underskirt for Dapper Day (shipped)
- wig grip headband (shipped)
- belt for Dapper Day (shipped)
- Nick Wilde t-shirt (shipped?)
- Nick Wilde bow (shipped)
- Magical Express info
- Jamberry nail wraps (ordered)

I know the underskirt, belt, and wig grip will be here by tomorrow. I don't know about the shirt and ears, they really should be here by tomorrow but I don't know. Hopefully they show up by the end of the week.

Things I need to do:
- put my coverbands onto my magic band
- pack
- pull out my backpack
- pack
- find my extra lens & extra battery for my camera
- pack
- unpack my tote bag so I can use it as a carry-on
- pack
- pull out my suitcase
- pack
- find my ears from last year
- ...pack...
 
20 Days to Go!

This is basically becoming my new blog. Basically I know 0 people are reading this but I am so grateful for this little spot I made for myself. Every time I make a PTR I think "ugh, I don't need this, you'll forget about it" then it comes down to the wire and I'm thankful!

ANYWAY...I'm so glad it's here because it means I have a place to start counting down and also I have a place to like...organize myself. So let's see, what have I achieved:

- Ears came in! (pictures to come later)
- Magical Express Info came in (...sort of...)
- underskirt in
- belt in
- wig holder in
- cover bands put onto Magic Bands

I also made a new Instagram account! @elleindisney - I'm going to use it exclusively for Disney pictures from past and present trips.


And, uh, Jey and my next trip after this one may very well be to TDL. So, that's a thing.
 
I'm here! You're not talking to yourself. Your preparations are so fun to read about! I love hair stuff so the wigs will be really fun on vacation. I always see people in them in the parks but I think I would just get too hot. I am thinking about dying some of my clip in extensions purple/grey though before our trip - I definitely can't have purple hair for work but that doesn't mean I can't have it on vacation!!!

Thanks @pepperandchips! I don't think I'd do the wigs in the summer, but in April I don't think it'll be all that bad (I hope not anyway!) I can only have my red hair at work because I was hired with it like this, I don't think I could have done it after the fact. I do have blue extensions I'm thinking of putting into maybe my brown wig or my lilac wig, but I'm not 100% sure yet. I need to FIND my brown wig first (it was my only wig for a while, and got put into a bin when I moved out of my last apartment and is now MIA), but that's actually today's job (along with finding my aqua and raspberry ears from Disneyland last summer ;/)
 

16(?) Days!

Can we talk about how we leave in a little over 2 weeks and I've done 0 things to get ready here?

Okay, that's not 100% true...

I got my DME information. Both the wrong information for my POFQ stay and the correct info for my POR stay. I hope everything works out correctly but I've had issues with split stays and hotel changes with DME before and they were very accommodating (let's be honest, if nothing else, at least the two hotels are next to each other and none of my info says ASSp like when I switched from ASMo to CBR that one time). I thought they weren't coming so I did order new so I half expect to get more (unnecessary) yellow luggage tags as the month progresses.

I've been trying to find the things I know I have from my epic South Carolina/Florida/California extravaganza last summer and I think I've found everything. Some of the stuff that I definitely needed and was freaking out about (my original pair of Brooke ears, some chargers, the power strip I travel with for emergencies) were all thankfully in my suitcase that I just pulled out yesterday. I want to pack this weekend but I think it'll be a bit too hard with my parents packing for their own trip next Thursday so hopefully I can start come next week.
 
I'm here too! You're not talking to yourself. We got back last weekend and I'm positive you'll love F&G. And all those food booths now! I love those wigs. I've got different sets of bangs since my hairs all one length now.

Thanks! I wish I could use those bangs but my hair's just too thin and I can't. So, wigs it is! lol. I've missed those food booths something awful, they're so good!

6 Days!

Jeez, time's flying!

My parents are in Disney now, with my father's select chorus, so I'm using my time as wisely as possible - I'm trying to get all my ducks in a row and pack as much as I can.

This is basically what it looks like:

Yes, that's three separate lists for packing. I'm not worried at all.
 
OH Good, the Panic's Begun...


So, I think the title explains it all. I've packed a decent amount of stuff, minus delicates that need to go through the wash and my toiletries that I use every day. I have outfits planned so I didn't overpack (one of my biggest downfalls for going in April: since I don't know what the weather's like I have a tendency to overpack) - in fact I only brought one sweater with me, and it's my favorite lightweight beach sweater that I bring everywhere with me in the summertime. I have my Dapper Day outfit (and my wigs and hair supply) packed away in my carry-on so the only thing I'd have to go into my suitcase to grab that day would be my makeup before we changed hotels.

But seriously guys, I've been having major panic attacks about everything. I have anxiety issues so it's not that uncommon and I usually roll my eyes at myself after the fact, but oof. So, part of it is definitely the hotel change thing. And that's two-fold:

1. I've never done a split stay before and even though this one is probably the easiest split stay in the world (I mean, POR to POFQ? We are literally walking - and since POR is a preferred room we should be close to the walkway) but I don't know, my brain is having all sorts of moments.

2. Last time Jey and I went to Disney together we had changed our hotel, from ASMu to CBR. Those of you following along here probably remember that I've done basically the same thing here - we were originally booked for ASSp but changed to POFQ. in 2014 when we got to the Magical Express our bands were still showing us as being at ASMu. The CM at the front desk of CBR was great at making sure everything was all set and the woman at the ME line was very nice it just worries me that it'll happen again. This time all our ME tags came in with both POFQ and POR so at the very least we should be going to the right place this time! It's just that we get in at like 10:30-11 after a long day at work so I don't want the day to end stressfully or we'll never sleep!

My other big worry? Is silly. And it happens every time I go to Florida now. I keep worrying that there's some hidden fee or other we didn't pay. When we went in 2013 we had done a Room Only res (just like we're doing for POR this year) but because we had done it using a CM discount (Jey was a CM at that point) we had to pay at the front desk when we got there and the CM at the front desk of Pop messed up my debit card for the rest of the week because he kept running it without letting the computer catch up to him and my card locked down. And I know I paid our 1 nigh at POR (I have the email with the "Balance Due: $0.00" and I'm actually staring at it right now) but it's just making me panic.

Breathe! You're almost there. In 5 days you will be enjoying the sights and sounds of the happiest place on earth! Maybe you could ask the CM at check in to put you in as a cash reservation without charging privileges so they never "authorize" your card at all? That moment always terrifies me, which is now why I always hand them a credit card I have no intention of using for anything else. Authorize it as much as you want! I won't need it later.

It's fun stress to be down to the little incidental packing. With lists like yours you'll have everything you need! (Don't worry, I make multiple lists also and highlight them in different colors when I put each item in a bag. For example, purple highlighter is for backpack, pink is for Vera carry on, etc. Yes, I am a lunatic.)

Haha, I'm trying so hard to breathe! Seriously! Thanks for the ideas too, I'll follow those! My lists for work are generally color coded, I just left the highlighters at work (that's...probably a good thing!) I keep thinking of things I forgot to pack while at work and sending myself reminders lol
 
Down to the Wire


Of course, with only what, three days to go until it's time to go to Florida I'm having to add more stuff to my lists!

At least it's something as small as "get hair done" and "use VS coupon for comfy sweats for the plane"

And of course, I bought a last-minute shirt last weekend. It's an LCFC shirt off Redbubble that has a picture of the logo and slogan "Foxes Never Quit". I always say that I'm going to wear it on one of our Epcot days (you can see it listed in my outfit list lol). And of course, since I bought it on a Thursday, it didn't get sent out until yesterday and now it's Estimated Time of Delivery is Friday.

Thankfully the mail comes while I'm at work so when it shows up I'll be able to throw it into my bag and go but still ugh. I hate that it's coming in juuuuuuust under the wire. I had wanted to buy it well beforehand, well before we went on vacation, but when I had gone onto the Redbubble website to buy it they didn't have it up anymore.. I'm partially glad I didn't buy it, because then they added the relaxed fit shirt and those are my favorite type of shirts so I had to buy it in that! But still, it needs to show up sooner rather than later!

You know how much planning I've done for California?? Like, none. Maybe I should do a PTR for that to get my butt moving!

Tomorrow!!!!

Oh, dear goodness, I leave tomorrow!

I'm both ecstatic and terrified! I'm nervous about everything I need to get done and I don't know how I'll survive two more days at work!

I woke up this morning and thought "omg, it's Friday! :D" which quickly turned into "OMG IT'S FRIDAY! :/" and then I was really glad it was Thursday. This is today's list:

1. run to the bank and take out money for the week
2. run to the mall and pick up a couple of things I need that I forgot to pick up last week
3. run to Dunkin' Donuts - I owe the students in one of my classes munchkins because they won last quarter's participation completion
4. get my hair done
5. pack my shampoo/conditioner
6. put out my outfit for the plane so I can change quickly tomorrow
7. pack my camera chargers and my cameras
8. pack iPad charger
9. pack the things I need to buy at the mall
10. charge and pack my handheld chargers

Tomorrow morning I need to:
1. pack my face wash/toner(s)/face cream(s)
2. pack my makeup and brushes
3. pack my handheld chargers
4. pack my phone charger
5. pack my iPad
6. pack my purse and the contents of it (just taking my wallet to work tomorrow)
7. get through work; print plane info
8. leave work as close to 3 as possible
9. check to make sure everything is ready to go
10. pick up Jey

omg, I don't know if I'll get through this!

Item 7: "Get through work" is the absolute most important and hardest! TGI(almost)F and have a great trip!

Thanks! And I'm not even sure if I can achieve item 7! I'm so excited (I seriously just need a vacation for one, and for another, Disney) that I woke up a half hour before my alarm goes off just because I couldn't sleep anymore.

I guess that old commercial's true - "we're too excited to sleep!"
