We needed to put our previous dog down last month (we got Riley when he was 8 years old, and we put him down due to bone cancer at 12)
We have been checking, checking and checking rescues, humane societies, petfinders etc. I had a "pity party" last weekend, since this dog-finding process was going way slower than we would have liked.
DH and I checked out a dog on Saturday, at the HS in our county. Just wasn't quite the right fit. Later on Saturday -the HS got in 6 dogs...we went tonight to go check out one of the newbies. The new dogs were on the website today. We immediately left the house after we saw them - cuz the HS was closing in 45 minutes.
Yep - I think he will do well in our home. The HS has a room with a couch in it. After Duncan was done sniffing the room for a few minutes - he came over by me and just put his head on the couch right next to me. And then he just sighed. It was too cute!
We have him on hold - need to do a phone interview tomorrow morning. And, DD16 wants to go meet him after school tomorrow.
Duncan needs to be nuetered (Wednesday) and then can come home on Friday. So - I am keeping my fingers crossed... Duncan is a yellow lab mix, about 60 pounds. and is estimated to be 6-8 years old. He likes other dogs. Their temperment test indicated can go to a house without infants and toddlers. (Now - FWIW - they did his temperment test immediately after this dog was transported for 6 hours, in a van with 5 other dogs. They think he may have been just a little stressed due to the transfer.)
Not posting any pictures until he's home
