We are finally home from our month on the road. We were at Disnelyland in late June, including the period with the Pirate's premier. We loved the Disneyland Hotel. Had a wonderful view of the fireworks from our room, which was very spacious. The refrigerator was great, and they were happy to being me a coffee pot and the coffee service when I asked. Parks opened at 6:30 am a couple of mornings and we walked on to rides. Weather was great. We did go see the Pacific after we left DL. An easy trip. Beaches in southern CA sure don't look like Hilton Head!

I used the $8.75 vouchers that came with the Passport Plus tickets at Ariels for a dinner with no problems. The unlimited Fastpasses were great. I hope that doesn't change, if we go back.

The biggest surprise was just how close the places on site are. We walked out of DLH and there was DTD....just a few steps. The parks, just a few more. I loved the set up.

Glad you had a great time! We loved it also. What is this about unlimited fastpasses. We were there in October 2002 and I don't remember this feature. Interested to know more!

Glad you enjoyed yourself :D Being able to walk from Point A to Point B at the resort in 15 minutes or less does make a difference, doesn't it?

John: The Unlimited Fastpasses are new with DL packages or with Passport Plus tickets. You can collect as many FPs as you want......you can hold one for every attraction at once! You can only get 1 for each ride, until the start time for that ride, but you can have one for as many rides as are FP rides. We collected tickets then rode the ones in a given area according to start times. Really quite amazing.

My3kids,
So glad you had a great time. We just LOVE Disneyland, DCA and DTD. It is awesome how you can walk to and from all of them with no problem. Did you do a trip report? We all love those!

So glad to hear that you liked DL! As someone who grew up in Southern Cali, DL is a magical place for me, but I'm always worried that East Coasters who are accustomed to the vastness of WDW will be underwhelmed by DL.

Beaches in southern CA sure don't look like Hilton Head!
Okay, as a Southern Californian who has never seen Hilton Head ... is this a good thing or a bad thing???? :)

Not better or worse....just very different! The southeastern US coast doesn't have rocks along the beach.....just very wide sandy flat beaches with no more than a sand dune between the beach and the houses. In CA, we walked down an enormous distance of steps and ramps to get to the beach, then the beach was an area surrounded by the beautiful rocky shores. I have not seen anything like that before. The views from the houses along the cliffs must be pretty incredible. I'm so glad we went to see the beach. The children feel great about seeing the Pacific.

On the WDW/DL thing....I can't say that I liked WDW any better than DL. I liked feeling like we probably had seen most of the things we wanted to see. We took time to swim in the fun DLH pool. At WDW, the size is so overwhelming that we left after a week knowing we had not seen all the things we wanted to see and we never took a break for swimming or seeing the resort area because there was always so much more to see. I loved the southern CA weather. I expected hot hot hot during the day and it never was uncomfortable. I can see why people would love to live there. Coming from a very small town however, the traffic there was something!!

I agree with you my3kids We loved DL and CA too. We especially loved how close everything was. We even left the park and walked to Denny's because my daughter wanted grilled cheese and we couldn't find it.
I wish it wasn't so far away. The plane ride was the only thing I can complain about it was very looooooooooooong.
The weather was awesome. I wish I could move there.
I am glad you enjoyed your trip.
Did you see any of the Pirates Stars when you were there?
