We love the Poly, will we like the Grand?

Our family loves the Polynesian. We love the location, the atmosphere, the pool and kiddie splash area and the restaurants.
We have stayed there quite a few times.
Our kids are 12, 8 and 4.

The only MK hotel our family hasn’t tried is the Grand Floridian.
If your family enjoys the Polynesian, do you also enjoy the Grand?

Thank you!

The Poly is our favorite, but we also like the GF. We love the Poly's tropical atmosphere and find it very relaxing, but the GF's atmosphere is also nice. Both resorts are beautiful with great dining options. If the GF appeals to you, I think it'd be worth a try. Happy planning :wizard:.

We've done both and loved both as they have unique feels to them. Even when we stay at the Poly, we venture over to the grand to take in the evening music and have a glass of vino. I believe it is definitely worth trying out once to see if you like it! Our boys prefer the Poly at the end of the day!

Yes. I was apprehensive about staying at GF when Poly was undergoing construction a few years ago. I was worried that GF didn’t have enough “character” or theming, like Poly. We ended up REALLY enjoying it. The pool was great and being one stop from MK was awesome. The lobby with the band playing is a nice touch.

Having said all of that, we are headed back to Poly this Fall but we were very happy with our stay at GF.

I love love love the Polynesian. It was my first love. I recently stayed at the GF and loved it. It was so beautiful. The theming is obviously different than the Polynesian but I would stay there again. It's good to try new resorts.

All I can say is that our family LOVES GF and did not really like POLY. We did like that POLY was much closer to TTC, because we would never recommend taking the monorail to Epcot from either resort, better to catch it at TTC.

We stayed st the Polynesian on our first trip. It was nice, but I don't need to stay there again. The DVC aspect of it is mostly studios, which we don't really care for and bungalows which require far too many points for what you get. That said, I love the GFVillas and the GF resort. If you really love the Polynesian, you might not care for the GF.

I’ve nevrr stayed at Poly though I will be this December, and I’ve been there enough to know the vibe and to know that I love it. I have stayed at GF(villas) once, and wasn’t thrilled. It’s beautiful but not as fun or exciting as Poly. It didn’t feel “Disney” to me. The penguin fountain and the Mary Poppin touches were great but overall I found it to be lacking in theming, stuffy and boring. That’s just me though.

I agree GF is different from Poly but it's really nice and very comfortable. Highly recommended!:earsboy:

I've stayed at both multiple times and I prefer GF. It's much quieter, less chaotic and the service is top notch.

They are actually my two favorite resorts.

GF was my first love: I always dreamed of staying there when I was younger, but didn't get to until my honeymoon. Once I did, I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else. Since then I've stayed there more -- but also stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge, Beach Club, Boardwalk, Contemporary and Poly, and none have ever given me that same dreamy feeling, until my most recent stay at Poly. We were in the Hawaii building, club level, right by the pool, and it made such a difference to me. I was so relaxed! I pretty much had no reason to need to go into Poly's main building -- just took the boat to MK -- and preferred it that way (gets a little loud and busy for my taste).

We just stayed at Poly for the first time, and I have to say my kids had a blast and we really liked the DVC rooms!! However, if we had to pick one, we’d definitely pick GF! It feels like home to us, there’s just something so special about it. You should definitely try it out, can always go back to Poly next year if you like it better!

Definitely worth a try! Have stayed at Poly a few times, don't like it. It's my least favorite resort. Own DVC at the GF and love it! You won't be disappointed! Enjoy wherever you stay!!

We love Poly, and really love GF AS WELL. Prob a touch more. The buildings are beautiful. Each has a mini lobby like the main building. Hallways are nice. Entering Poly Long houses I find are a bit shabby in comparison.
GF is very laid back and relaxing, love the Beach pool and when pool party starts I just move to Courtyard pool.
We were booked at The Poly too during construction. When we recieved the notice of closure of the Volcano pool (in August) we decided to move to GF. We loved it so much we’ve been back a few times! I want expecting to love it as much as we did.

I always say branch out and try something new when you get a chance! We usually do Poly or GF but this trip we are doing a split stay between BC and AK-Kidani as my kids requested it!
