We love rack rate! Aug 1-17 More NEW pics 9/1!

43 minutes? Ouch! That is not good. Your dinner however looks wonderful! I am glad you got there to enjoy it! And very pretty cake too!

Luckily it fits in our room fridge, so we can work on it over the next few days. That gives us something to do while we wait for the buses.

This is why we love you, Elizabeth. Always finding the silver lining! :rotfl2: Honestly, I am sorry that the SSR bus situation is living down to your expectations.

Dinner (and the cake) look wonderful!

Elizabeth we leave this afternoon, so we will get in later tonight. We will see you Friday unless we bump into you sooner :woohoo:

HOPE YOU HAVE A VERY MAGICAL DAY ELIZABETH!

Sorry the SSR bus service disappointed yesterday. Sure hope today is better.
I have seen good and bad reviews about the busses there. Problems can and do occur at every resort.

The only sure fire deal I found was the WL bus to and from MK. In two stays there, it was always quick to come and truly a 5-10 minute travel time. I hated the boats though. The other parks could be dicey from WL.

What I decided during our May trip was to do a split stay (as you are doing) and go the park that is handy to the resort. From WL we went to MK, from BWV we went to Epcot and MGM. You have to give up extra magic hours to make this approach work. My DD 18 and BF did not follow my schedule (and we deviated as well since we did go to AK but did not stay at AKV.

Next year should I consider 3 days at WL, 3 at AK, and 5 at BWV?

You will have to give your honest take on the wisdom of moving twice. Once was not bad for us in May. It actually felt like a separate vacation and felt like it lengthened the trip somehow.

Glad you guys did not let the bus situation ruin your meal. What a memorable dinner and that cake looks fantastic.

Have fun today.

Happy Birthday, Elizabeth!!!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes!! :goodvibes

Laurie - The split stay thing is going to cost us a fortune in tips. We tipped the AKL bellman $15 yesterday because he waited with us for the cab and it took a long time. Cab was $20, tipped $5. SSR bellman got a $12 tip. $52 total just to go from Point A to Point B. And we have to do it 2 more times.
I didn't want to use resort luggage transfer because I am squirrelly that way.

Our DVC guide left us a voice mail today to welcome us "home". I thought that was nice. Maybe he heard I had to wait 43 minutes for a bus last night. ;)

This morning was early entry at MK. We got to the bus stop at 6:51 AM, waited 9 minutes. We made it to MK by about 7:40, so it worked out great.

The locker rental CM gave us our locker for free because it's my birthday.

We got a FP for Space Mtn, rode Buzz, Tea Cups, Pooh, Peter Pan, Haunted Mansion, and Pirates before our 10 AM breakfast at CP.

After breakfast we were looking at pins (and jewelry) in Uptown Jewelers and we saw Scoop Sanderson! He is the pin trading guy at MK. He is a really fun character! DS played a pin trading game with him and got 3 pins for his collection. I got a pin because it is my birthday. Then he called 2 of the ladies (Miss Inga DePointe and one of the other ladies who strolls up and down Main Street) over to wish me a happy birthday. The 3 of them decided to sing Happy Birthday, and a whole crowd of people joined in. I was laughing so hard I was crying. Very magical! :)

I called our apartment manager to ask if she would let my friend in to check on our cats since the pet sitter hasn't phoned to let us know things are OK. (This is NOT our regular lady, but I specifically said to call us after EACH visit.) Apt. manager said yes, but we had to fax written authorization. We popped over to Guest Relations and they faxed it for us - they were wonderful! My friend called about 1 PM to let me know she was at the apartment and the cats are fine. Food and water bowls were full, mail and newspaper were inside, it looks like the lady has been coming by as agreed but she just hadn't called to check in with us. Odd.

We rode Space with our FPs. I am officially TOO OLD for that ride. It is way too rough!

By 2:30 DS was ready for a break, so we braved coming back to SSR. Got to the bus stop at 2:44, waited 11 minutes for a bus, waited 6 minutes for the bus to depart MK, but not nearly as bad as 43 minutes. We'll have to go back out for dinner tonight at Citrico's so we'll see how long we wait for that one.

FYI, the Unofficial Guide had today at a crowd level of 7, but MK was PACKED. I mean PACKED. I don't recall ever seeing it that crowded before, and I am really bad at distinguishing variations in crowd levels.

Elizabeth - have you considered taking the boat to DTD then a bus to Grand Floridian? Not sure if that would shave off 43 minutes - but might make it more relaxing with a boat ride tossed in...

I knew that was possible, but I hadn't considered actually doing it. DS is pestering me to go to DTD, so I am not sure the whining about not being able to go to the Lego Store before dinner would be worth it! :rotfl2:

Hi,

Happy Birthday.

We are at SSR too! In the Springs.... right across from High Rocks Spring for our first DVC trip "home". Went to MK early morning hours this morning. Daughter and I ran to a MK bus at the Springs stop at about 7:20. We went on Philharmagic, Small World and Haunted Mansion before our Family Magic tour at 10. We left at 12 to go to Whispering Canyon for lunch and are now back at SSR gettting ready to go to Cirque Du Soleil at 6.

Have fun, I know we are.....:rotfl:

I hate to admit it...and I NEVER would have thought I would agree with Marti...but renting a car last time was a dream come true. I would never not do it again....it made getting back and forth between the resorts so much easier.

I will be waiting to hear how Citricos was
