We love Donald Duck, oh yes we do! - Link to the PTR - COMPLETE

You probably already saw it on my TR, but on my last trip I actually got one of the character drawings of Donald flipping out over nothing in particular. The price wasn't too bad (especially for something hand-drawn) and framed even though I had to add shipping onto it since it wouldn't be ready until after I got home. As a bit of an animation junkie, I could probably drop a few bucks in that place.

...And now I'll probably be calling Donald "Dut Dut" forever now. Thanks a lot Henry.

:rotfl: I'll probably be calling him Dut Dut forever too! I try to say it correctly, so Henry actually learns, but Dut Dut comes out more often than not!

I was amazed it was so cheap! Only like $85, right? And that was WITH the frame? I'm so buying something next time....hopefully December. :thumbsup2

Oh Brook, Henry is adorable in your last photos! He looks so sweet soaking everything up! :goodvibes I know I have said this before but it is really fun to see Disney through his eyes, to experience the little things and see his delight. :lovestruc
When we went into Animation Studio our last time they had us drawing Donald, it was pretty fun to do. You should try it some day when you can. It's nice to have a free something from Disney!

You are so sweet! It really is something to see Disney through the eyes of a little one-I'm happy to share the joy of it all here in my TR!

I really look forward to trying the Animation Studio and doing the drawing at some point...right now Henry would be EVERYWHERE, he's so antsy! But, maybe Joe and I can take turns or something...hmmmm....gotta take advantage of one of the very, very few free things, don't I?! ;)

What a cutie! I have two girls that love Donald too... infact McDonald's was Donald Ducks for a while around here. Great pics as always!

That is so cute about McDonald's! If the love of Dut Dut continues, I can forsee that in our future as well. :goodvibes

AWWWW. Him and Dut Dut!

It was such a great moment!!

It's those unexpected moments of magic that are the best! Henry looks so cute with Dut Dut. :lovestruc

I agree! I LOVE that about Disney...like your meeting Mary Poppins-unexpected and SO special!!!!

What a great day. I love that Henry got to meet Dut Dut in person. That is pretty cool. I love moments like that. I thought the Playhouse Disney show was fantastic for the little ones. We did the drawling thing that was neet and that shop was wonderful!! We got a few drawling kits in there and other fun stuff. I love the pic with the rows of Palm trees very pretty.

It was such a great day at DHS, it stands out as one of my most favorite days of our whole trip--Henry meeting Dut Dut holding a very speical place in my heart!

Playhouse Disney is so much fun! Joe and I sing along and I love watching all the kids dance and get so excited about it all. The bubbles and the leaves that fall-everything-it's just a blast!

I didn't see the drawing kits in that shop-I'm going to keep that in mind, a close friend of ours has a son who is very into art, it would be a great gift for him!

About $85 framed, and shipped. Unfortunately the combination of Christmas, and the two weeks worth of nasty weather we had up here meant that it took three weeks for the thing to arrive when it got shipped. That probably wouldn't happen over in Minnesota where people (apparently) know how to drive in the snow every so often. If you're going to get something, I'd recommend doing so early in the trip. It will probably take a couple of days before the artist has a chance to get around to drawing it. The one I got was from the Art of Disney store in DTD, but it's similar to what's available at DHS.

Another great update! It seems like you did a lot during that DHS day, I can understand that you say it might have been your best day. I really love DHS and am a bit sad that I did not spend more time there this last trip. I guess, the next time I need to stay longer again :rolleyes1

Your experience with Donald is so great! I love it how the characters really play a role and don't just stand a round. This year I started meeting characters for the first time and even as an adult I had so much fun with them! :goodvibes

I'm so glad that Henry got to see Dut Dut. Precious! I know just what you mean about grinning so much your cheeks hurt! :goodvibes

Looks like that orange Beaker shirt is the "women's cut"- nipped in at the waist. Enabling them to charge more. :headache:

I love, love, love your trip reports! I am a teacher who has been out this week for spring break and reading these reports has been my "guilty pleasure" for the past few days! Thanks so much for the time you put into it. Its making me sooooo look forward to our trip in June.

Those pictures of Henry with Donald are so cute! What an amazing memory for you and Joe :goodvibes: And isn't the Animation Studio gift shop the best?! We spent like an hour in there in 2005 just looking at everything. We actually thought it was an attraction (like an art gallery) at the time, and knew nothing about the studio drawing lessons so we missed them

I do love my Friday nights on the DIS when you have posted an update!!! :goodvibes

The Muppet Show Doors!!! Where are those? Are they in the gift shop? How have I missed them all these years??? Apparently I never look up! I have to see them in June!

Dut Dut and Henry are the cutest pair EVER! I love how excited Dut Dut was about the plush!!! That is precious! I know it must have made Donald's day because he always feels so inferior to Mickey -- not that he should because who doesn't love Donald? ;)

Great update as always, Brook!

Brook those pics of Henry with Dut Dut are so precious!! I can understand why you were smiling so much!! Great update as usual!! Have a wonderful weekend:)

Loving your detail shots again - I have not even noticed the footprints or those signs at Muppets - ugh, I must look around me instead of rushing from place to place!! Henry was so cute with Dut Dut. Aren't those moments the best? :goodvibes

I started reading your TR on Thursday and finally had time to finish it up. Loved it!:thumbsup2 Great photos and stories. First a shout out to fellow Lost fan. Seeing Ben in person? I think I'd run the OTHER way. Ha! Oh I got up too early today. Anyhow, the blowout stories reminded me of a few incidents I have encountered with my daughters over the years. (I think we've been permanently banned from the IHOP in Beaumont, Texas....good thing we don't live there anymore.) Kennedy SC looked really nifty...now my space loving brain is craving a day trip. BUT, with my girls being 6 and 5 this trip, I think it will have to wait until next time. The Space Pen story cracked me up. I had my own pen buying moment this week when I picked up "Fat Pens" for the characters this summer. OH BTW - they are buy one package, get one free at Office Max this week. I'm all about free. Looking forward to reading about the rest of your trip. I enjoy your writing style and am thrilled you have a table of contents. (I tend to browse in spurts so I rarely read a TR without them...takes too long to get caught up.)

Take care and keep up the good work!

Wonderful installments!!!! You always get such great pictures.

That Donald Duck was terrific to Henry! My cheeks already hurt from the smiles yur bringing to my face right now.

$85 is such a great deal, esp considering the size that you got. I love that they can just ship it too, no worrying about traveling back home with it. I didn't realize at DHS you could pick something and THEN they draw it for you-that is so incredibly cool to me for some reason...

Minnesotans know how to drive in the snow, but they don't know how to merge! :headache:

We were fortunate and seemed to avoid the giant crowds of tour groups. I'm guessing they hit the big shows, which we didn't - so it worked well!

A longer trip next time sounds like a very good plan! :thumbsup2;) Maybe DBF will be convinced this time...!

Joe and I have had a good time with meeting the characters too! We probably never would have if we didn't have Henry, it really is a lot of fun. I like how the non-speaking characters still manage to communicate very clearly (usually).

I'm so glad that Henry got to see Dut Dut. Precious! I know just what you mean about grinning so much your cheeks hurt! :goodvibes

Looks like that orange Beaker shirt is the "women's cut"- nipped in at the waist. Enabling them to charge more. :headache:

Ahhhh...yes, you are right about the shirt. What is up with THAT?! Just silly. I'm so making one on Zazzle. Take that rip-off store! ;)

The moment with Dut Dut was wonderful-one of the biggest highlights of the trip!

I love, love, love your trip reports! I am a teacher who has been out this week for spring break and reading these reports has been my "guilty pleasure" for the past few days! Thanks so much for the time you put into it. Its making me sooooo look forward to our trip in June.

Oh goodness, thank you for your kind words! I'm so glad you have joined us, and glad to hear you are enjoying the TRs, and that they have provided such good entertainment this week for you!! Aren't TRs the best for tiding you over until your trip? :goodvibes

That shop is like an attraction, there is so much to look at! I think it's going to become a "must do" for us. And...I am REALLY tempted to start a collection of drawings for Henry's room...hmmmm....

What a great experience with Dut Dut! Henry must have loved it.

He did! We looked back at the pictures last week and he was laughing, squealing and saying "Dut! Dut!" :cutie:

I do love my Friday nights on the DIS when you have posted an update!!! :goodvibes

Great update as always, Brook!

Hopefully I will have a new update before this Friday for you! :thumbsup2 I've been buuuuuuuuusy this week, so a major lack of DIS time lately. I'm hoping to finish writing it tomorrow and then up on Thursday afternoon.

Anyway! Yep, the doors are in the gift shop, above the registers. Aren't they fun? Such a neat detail.

I agree-Dut Dut is not inferior to Mickey (not by annnnnnnnny means in this house), he's just a different....uh...person/animal/character. Poor Dut Dut for feeling that way.

Brook those pics of Henry with Dut Dut are so precious!! I can understand why you were smiling so much!! Great update as usual!! Have a wonderful weekend:)

Thank you! It was such a great moment! I love looking back at those pictures and having those feelings come back, a big sappy grin on my face!

The weekend WAS wonderful! Busy, but fun! We did a "Parade of Homes" with some friends here in Minnesota and saw homes that were for sale up to 3 million dollars. Sunday we went SHOPPING after church. Can't go wrong with new clothes, right? :rolleyes1

Loving your detail shots again - I have not even noticed the footprints or those signs at Muppets - ugh, I must look around me instead of rushing from place to place!! Henry was so cute with Dut Dut. Aren't those moments the best? :goodvibes

Taking it slow is soooooo nice. I have an urge to rush too, but Joe has tamed the comando in me and I've found he's right (don't tell him that ;)). You might not get to ride as much, but you get to actually see more!

The unexpected magic moments are theeeeeeeeeeee best!

Great update! My kids love dut-dut too!

Thank you! Dut Dut is so sweet and cuddly, isn't he?

Love the Henry and Dut Dut meet pics and story!!!

Thanks! It was a wonderful moment. :goodvibes

Hey there! Good to see you on here. I can't remember what TRs I've seen you on, but most often your comments have me laughing out loud. Which led to me a "duh" moment...I finally clicked on the link for your TR, I'm looking forward to reading it! :thumbsup2

I was SO nervous being around Ben. I couldn't even think of what I could possibly say to him, so I kinda ignored that he was there. It was surreal and creepy - but I'm sure that's just because I see him ONLY as Ben Linus. :scared:

KSC is really cool-I hope you are able to go sometime! There are quite a few interactive things for kids, so I bet your girls will enjoy it if you go next time.

That is hilarious about IHOP...I can only imagine...! Ah, the adventures with children, eh?

I'm all about free. Or even 50% off. My shopping trip yesterday included many items that were 70% off. And a pair of earrings that were 97 cents, and then 40% off that. Score!

No prob on the links. I'm a bit of a nerd, used to program websites for a side job, so I would be a bit annoyed with myself if I didn't at least do it... Plus, I agree with you, sometimes its REALLY hard to keep up without them.

So, if you ever read this, cool. If not, cool. :goodvibes

Wonderful installments!!!! You always get such great pictures.

That Donald Duck was terrific to Henry! My cheeks already hurt from the smiles yur bringing to my face right now.

Aw, thanks! It brings a huge smile back to my face just remembering it and reading all the comments about our magical moment!! That Donald was AWESOME with Henry-it was like he was the only child in the room, so so sweet.

LOL, My DD calls it Oh McDonalds right now.;)

:rotfl2: I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, we are back from our trip to the World and Ive been getting caught up on your trip report. Such sweet pictures of Henry and Donald.
I was so excited that my 17mo old dd loved the Characters. I was afraid that she would be afraid of them, but she loved them.
I need to start a TR myself and immerse myself back into my Disney vacation!!

Oooo, awesome update. Henry got to see his beloved Dut Dut. What a special, unplanned moment. I bet you remember it for a long time. Love your great, detailed pictures Brook. :)

:headache:

There is a list of items they can draw (I think they had it in a notebook when I bought mine,) but I think there's some degree of customization as well. I'm not sure about all the details, although I suspect I'll be getting another one next time I'm there or at Disneyland (they've got a similar store at DCA that I was in last time I went down to DLR.)

And don't get me started on merging...
