I have tried to avoid posting a question like this but my indecision has forced my hand. For those new to my posts....my husband is VERY picky about what he eats. There's a long list of foods he won't touch with a 10' pole. He likes Outback SteakHouse, Macaroni Grill (Italian) and Applebees. I like On The Border :lovestruc (Mex-American?) , Applebees, Ruby Tuesday and pretty much anywhere they have good food. Even Golden Corral! He likes Chinese but is so picky there isn't a local one he likes anymore...his favorite changed their menu. He hates the fast-food type Chinese places. SO, based on these selections, what restaurants in WDW serve similar food? Based on the menus at allearsnet, I found myself making a list of American steak and burger places with Le Cellier thrown in for good measure. I need a more varied list folks. I can't make him eat steak and burgers for a week. Can you help me out? San Angel Inn looks like it has a pretty good menu. He likes a mexican place here that's owned and operated by mexicans. They have the chile rellenos and chorizo and stuff like that and I see that San Angel Inn is similar in its offerings. But, is the food any good? What about a good Italian place? As for me, I love seafood. What do you recommend? :confused3

How about renting a car and going to some of the places you both like. There are many of the same chain restaurants in Orlando

Maybe Kona Cafe or O'hana at the Polynesian?..I lie San Angel, but some people hate it..Le Cellier is very good. You won't regret that choice

Go to allearsnet.com and look over all the menus, that is what I do. DH is not a picky eater but when the menus are lined up in front of him he gets choosy. In Epcot I suggest Le Cellier (based on the rave reviews from this site). I liked Italy but DH who loves Olive Garden did not. Also San Angel Inn was terrible, we didnt like one bite. For MGM the 50's Prime Time is fantastic, like home cooking, nothing fancy or strange. Hollywood and VIne was a bust, neither of us liked it. At MK Crystal Palace is great, a mix of funky food and normal fare.

Are you planning alot of sit down meals or counter service?

Would some of the buffets be an option? Beware San Angel: I thought it was pretty good, but it gets pretty low marks around here. :earsboy:

Try Hollywood and vine. It's a buffet. If you like Golden Corall, you should like it. It's a bit more expensive of course and there are more things and a bit fancier food. Chef Mickeys and Crystal Palace have what I would call american buffets as does 1900 park faire. But those are all character meals.

Mama Melrose is pretty much the favorite Italiian place on these boards from what I can tell. Many have stated it's sort of like Macaroni Grill. I've never been to either to be honest.

Here's a place you might try. Spoodles. It has steak on the menu, plus it has a seafood stew that's yummy. You can also get shrimp and scallop add ons for the steak and the pasta dishes. The stew is a little spicy so if you hate spice, it's not for you. They also have rigatoni and a couple other yummy entrees.
For seafood, the flying fish gets good reviews. I've never been there though.

Sounds like your tastes are similar to that of my family. Our favorite WDW places have been Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge, Cape May Cafe clambake at the Beach Club, Planet Hollywood and Rainforest Cafe at DTD! :)

My husband and I both prefer those kind of chain restaurants and we liked Crystal Palace buffet and Mama Melrose (it's one of our regulars now). It IS alot like Macaroni Grill- I love both. :teeth:

Try not to let the menus scare you- they sound more exotic than they usually are. I travel with a picky husband and the pickiest in-laws in the world, but we always find great food. At home we frequent basically all the same places that you do. We like Alfredo's in Italy, Ohana, 50's Prime Time, Tony's, my brother and sis-in-laws swear by the counter service place in Mexico in Epcot (they just got back saturday from a weektrip and ate there 3 times). They also loved LeCellier, which seems to be a fav around here- it's on our to do list. We like Planet Hollywood- very much like Applebees or Ruby Tuesday's. And, lots of people love Boma, which is a buffet- and my picky SIL, who eats only bread and cheese (not kidding, no fruits, no veggies, only meat is hamburger on occassion), loved Boma. She even tried new things, which is HUGE. So, be adventurous!!

The ESPN Club on the Boardwalk is comparable to Applebee's food (or a notch above in my opinion). Selections are similar, food has been good every time we've been there. Even our friends who aren't sports fans like we are enjoyed it enough that it is on their list for this year's trip. Yes, they have burgers and steaks but they have lots else on the menu also.
