My family and I leave in sixteen hours for our much needed vacation! What an awful week! The week began when a land deal for our new home fell through. Our week got worse when our dryer stopped working! Now the trip is almost here and our family dog of thirteen years passed away this morning. He was a dearly loved member of our family who we are going to miss terribly! My family and I need this trip more than anything! Wilderness Lodge - here we come! If any place in the world can make up forget our troubles, Disney World Can!

I'm so sorry about your dog. The dryer you can replace. The house will handle itself. But your dog was your buddy.

Bad luck always travels in threes, so, hopefully, you should be through with it all.

hi,
so sorry for all the troubles you have had this week,i'm sorry to hear about the loss of your pet.if anything can help you bring up your spirits it's disney,go and have a blast!!!praying the rest of your week is fun filled.

Oh dear, sorry you had such a horrible week and I'm sorry about your dog. Sounds like you guys really need some Disney.

I sure hope nothing else goes wrong, but if I were you, I wouldn't ask.

Sorry about your dog, when we were at WDW many years ago, my neighbor had to take our sick cat to be euthanized. It didn't sink in until we got home and he was gone.

I'm so sorry about all the bad things happening to you this week. Go and have a blast at Disney! Eat an extra :mickeybar that always helps! :goodvibes :goodvibes

So sorry to hear of your loss!! I hope things are nothing less than magical for you on your trip!

I know how hard it is to loose a pup, mine was a month shy of 12 :sad1:

Sounds like you guys really need this vacation. Make the most of it!

So sorry abou the loss of your family's buddy. It can be really tough.

Go to Disney and enjoy yourself. Find Pluto and give me a really big hug!!

Spreading you some pixie dust so you and your family have a magical time.

So sorry to hear about your bad week. Definately WDW will help you forget this week from hell and once you are there you will be in a different world (that is what I LOVE about Disney!!) I lost one of my kitties (who was 2 months shy of 14) a little less than 2 weeks ago so I can relate to the loss of your beloved dog. With an elderly animal we all know that day is going to come when its their time but we would rather it not think about it - at least that is how it was with me.

Go and enjoy yourselves - you deserve it!! Have fun!!

So sorry for you and your families loss of such a wonderful pal. I know our pets become one of the family and it is so hard to get past. Have a great trip and don't worry about the stuff back home. Maine :firefight

You're right! If any place can cheer you up, it's Disney. God bless!

Please enjoy your vacation and try to put the past week behind you. The loss of a pet can be quite an ordeal. The timing for such a thing is never good but at least you were there with the pet when he passed. It would have been worse if it had happened while you were away and returned and felt guilty about being gone. I read in another thread that you were going to AKL and staying in a suite. What an exciting vacation for you and your family! Have fun!!

I'm so sorry about your dog. We recently lost one of our 2 cocker spaniels and the hurt is still there, 2 months later. We still shed tears and miss him so much. He passed away on my birthday, on my lap. 2 days prior to that, my mom was diagnosed with a very serious condition that is termed fatal so I know what it's like, as far as the stress factor. We are leaving tomorrow morning for Disney and need it so bad.

Relax and enjoy your vacation and try to de-stress...We keep thinking at least our Lucky didn't die while we were at Disney. We were able to say goodbye..

{{{HUGS}}} :paw: :paw:

If you haven't seen this yet, I made a nice memorial for our Lucky:

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water, and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they each miss someone very special, someone who was left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly, he breaks from the group flying over the green grass, faster and faster You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face, your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into those trusting eyes, so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together...

I am so sorry about your dog and the rest of your bad week, as well.
All you can do is move forward and have a wonderful, relaxing time on vacation.

I'm sorry for all that you've been through, especially your doggie. May your doggie have peace at the Rainbow Bridge, & may you have a safe & wonderful trip. :)

Thanks to everyone for their warm thoughts and prayers! It really makes us feel good that there are so many kind people here on the dis boards! :grouphug: We will leave first thing in the morning for our much deserved vacation! It will feel good to put this bad week behind us and go "home" to the world! :earsboy:

Your family will be in our thoughts. Best wishes for a magical vacation.

So sorry to hear about your week and the loss of your pet. We hope that you have a magical vacation filled with pixie dust!

I am very sorry that you lost your doggie. We get soo attached to them, and they don't stay with us long enough.. my thoughts, i think the animal, as long as it is treated w/ kindness and love, should last as long as the owner does.. it would be great to have the same dog your whole life..

again, sorry for your loss... try to enjoy your trip as much as you can.
