In the dark! DS10 and DS12 are getting a little older for egg hunts, but they still like them. So this year I thought I would make it a little more "dangerous" and challenging by hiding the eggs in the dark and giving them flashlights. I didn't even get the eggs that glow or reflect, just plain old regular eggs. I had a floodlight on in the back yard, and the street light in the front. I had LOTS of eggs because I thought we would have more than just the two of them. It took awhile, but they had a lot of fun. Tomorrow we will go out and find the ones that were missed, but I think they got almost all of them.:thumbsup2

That's a great idea for older kids. I'll bet they had a blast.

Whenever we hide eggs, we always find a couple of them a few weeks later.

What a GREAT idea!!

I get sad thinking about the day when my DD, age 5, is too old to participate in the traditions of childhood. What a great idea to tailor them to older kids -- find a way to keep them exciting -- rather than just quitting them altogether.

Love it! :thumbsup2

I was just thinking a little while ago that I miss coloring eggs and all the stuff that goes with Easter and children. Mine are both grown and in college.

Ok that just sounds like fun!

My mom, brother, and I did eggs, hmm...I think we did eggs until I went away to college! They're just plain old fun. And since we would eat them (unlike many on a budget board thread, I have learned!), they weren't wasted. Oh how I look forward to tomorrow's sandwiches....

I wish I would have seen this thread earlier!!! What a good idea. Might have to do this next year (My boys will be 14 & 15 by then) my oldest didn't even want to color eggs this year.

But I'm sure if I did an egg hunt in the dark, they'd be all over it!!! Thanks for the idea!!!

Cool idea. Mine are getting a bit old for the hunt as well but have been begging for one. This year I made up about 10 clues that will be placed around the house ( all lead to the next clue), the final will lead them to their baskets. Next year I think I will do the egg drop that was in the Family Fun magazine. I may have to add the night hunt to the plans as well.

I will have to remember this when all the cousins are older. Grandma has an Easter Egg hunt for the grandkids every year. They range in age from 17 down to 3 so in a couple years they can do their egg hunt at night :thumbsup2. All these kids are VERY into "tradition" so ending the egg hunt isn't going to be an option for many years :lmao:.
