We just got back and had a great time... We did the DVC tour.. b/c we were very interested.. they gave us a $45 gift card just for taking the tour... wow!

We got back on the 18th, we also took the tour. It was well worth it! We were inches away from purchasing a DVC at AKL. We did receive $45 in gift cards, along with some quiet adult time while our DS4 enjoyed the kids' room!

The DVC tour is incredible, especially the BLT models...you will fall in love!

How do you book the DVC tour and where? It's for non-dvc memebers? How long does it last and what did you guys do? Did you feel obligated to purchase one afterwards?

Sorry so many questions! lol

It is so easy to do the tour. We just went to the DVC booth at DTD and they took us over to the office in a golf cart. Absolutely no pressure from the salesman, he actually only called us one time to see if we wanted to buy. No pressure, it was great seeing all the options!

I'm going Sep 2009, and really would like to see the Treehouses... thinking they might be open then...
:flower3:

I believe that each resort has some kind of a DVC setup in their main lobby. It usually has a CM there for questions, sales pitch and to setup a tour. We are thinking of doing the tour during our trip the 1st week of December, even though we already know it is not for us.

How long does the tour typically last? We are thinking about doing this during our June 2009 trip. We aren't ready to buy yet, but would like to take a tour and really find out about the cost involved.

We did the tour - were very interested in DVC - and ended up buying.

You can go to SSR and tour the models on your own time. No incentives given for that.

If you want to talk to a Guide (and get the $45 or whatever the incentive is at that moment) you can book an appointment at any DVC kiosk in the parks or resorts.

From what I remember about our tour and guide, we were interviewed about why we were interested, shown a short video (similar to one you see on resort TV), walked through the models, and then had another sitdown to gauge interest/compatibility with our vacation habits. It was during that final chat we were given very specific details on ownership - points, cost, resorts, etc. At the end of the chat, we were presented with two $25 gift cards (which was a surprise to us).

It did take a couple hours from the time we were picked up at our resort by the DVC van until it dropped us back to our resort.

My opinion - I don't think I'd give up my vacation time for the incentive if I was not motivated to buy. I'm not even sure if they give it every time or if it's up to the discretion of each Guide.

Loved the presentation and the tour. No pressure whatsoever! The kids have a playroom to play in, they take a family photo after, and you even get ice cream.
I wouldn't have gone on the tour if I hadn't already been interested, but since I was, the tour was great!

We keep talking about it, so we'll probably break down and do the tour when we're there in January! We'd like to get more info, and if there's something free thrown in, even better!!
