We just bought DVC!!!

I still can't believe it. DH and I were in Disney last week with our kids (daughter age 6 and son age 4). We've been going to Disney often, 2-4 times a year since Sept. '06. I had suggested joining DVC to DH several times as we have rented points in the past and loved it. He was against it.

I'm not even sure how it came up, but we signed up to take the tour at SSR while at Epcot one afternoon. We mentioned our friends who are DVC members and met with their guide the next day.

And.... we bought 450 Bay Lake Tower points! (2, 225 point contracts) The incentives were fabulous. I am still in shock, but very happy.

One question: how hard is it to get BLT at the 11 month mark? Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Sorry I can't answer your question as we just joined DVC ourselves... but wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS! It's a great feeling, isn't it?

We will be at BCV in a few days (our first DVC stay). Want to add-on more points, possibly while we are there. If you don't mind me asking, what incentives did you get?

The incentives we received were $14 per point off the purchase price, plus they put an extra 450 points in our account (from 2009) that we promptly banked and now can use through May 2011.

Welcome Home! I LOVE our DVC! Our "home" AKL and it is my favorite!!! We have 160 and 110 points and are adding 50 next month to "even it up" to leave to our two kids and then we are looking at adding to another resort....MAYBE

Congrats!! As far as how hard it is to book at 11 months out it all depends on when you are going, remember busy time for DVC is not the same as busy time for WDW. I know first week in december is very busy. BLT is our home and we love it. I tried to book a standard studio for the half marathon next Jan and could not so booked lake view and am on waitlist for standard view.

I have booked at 11 months for BLT twice for 2BR Lake Views with no problem.

Wow - that's a lot of points!! We bought into BLT at 160 in March, and just got our Annual Dues bill, so guess we're official now.

DVC system will force you to rethink how you plan vacations. We tried to get into BLT in December right after we joined and it was full at 8 months out. From what I gather, calling at the 11 month is the bust bet on getting into your home resort. We are now planing 15 months out, so we will always have a room ready.

PP, you are right. We are already thinking differently about our vacations. It is going to take some getting used to, that's for sure.

We've already changed our plans and now are going to hopefully book a 1 BR standard view for next April. Hoping it will be available at exactly 11 months out. I really wasn't prepared for this being so stressful! I'm sure we'll adjust as we use our points more.

Congrats! We just joined in Feb ourselves but did 160 BLT and 160 VGC when we got home we added on resale SSR (great deal resale!) and then did the dreaded 125 BLT point add on during the webinar but broke it up into a 60 point and 65 point contract (smaller contracts seem to be much easier for resale down the road). We went from 0 to 600 points in no time, we are done with add ons but I am having so much fun planning! We got BLT 2 bedroom (all views available) for Presidents week at 11 months, was able to get a studio at bwv for a week for DD (Aug trip) I booked it a few weeks back, got 1 bedroom BLT Lk view (Dec) 2 weeks ago but really needed a 2 bedroom. I called my guide since he said he could help me with my 1st ressie (did not use him for 1st ressie) so I called him and sure enough he was able to secure us a 2 bedroom BLT for 5 nights in Dec. I know I am excited to try all resorts so I cannot say I will be disappointed if I do not get my 1st choice

I was able to book a 2bd LV for our Feb. vacation last year without any problem, and that was at the 7 month mark.
