We just booked Windsor Hills over Nick Hotel

If anyone knows about them please tell me. I am saving over $240 and have a kitchen and washer and dryer.

I didn't get the opportunity to stay in one of their units, but they represented themselves as booking agents for their management company. They promised me a unit that I didn't receive, but we were ultimately happy with our stay. Windsor Hills is beautiful and super close to the parks. I would stay there again.
If you had told me that their unit was booked but they could get you a similar unit, then I would tell you to beware.
 

They had the unit available the 2nd condo during the times I wanted.

Did you end up renting from them?

That is bad saying you could get something else?

Interesting. What made you choose them in the first place. I chose them because a lot of other places had bookings for that week and they just happened to have the one week we wanted not booked but everything else was for them.

Huh? We often "refer" guests to other homes in the resort when we're booked (which is often)...but I wouldn't say it's something to "beware" of! You should ALWAYS be able to see pictures / photos / websites of the ACTUAL unit you will be staying in, you shouldn't be promised one unit then given another...that's strange. Just curious what happened, did you not see the unit you were booked into?

We refer people to other homes that we personally know are nice places and well run all the time, all to help out potential guests and other owners! Nothing too unusual there, and nothing is ever misrepresented or anything, I'm curious what happened in your situation!

I was interested in one of their units because it was first floor, closest to the pool (bld #8). It wasn't available BUT they could get me a unit, same bld same floor for $10.00 more a night. They said they were "booking agents" for Palm Tree. Every email I had with them mentioned that I was getting 1st floor in bld. #8.
So of course, we get to WH and we are 3rd floor and can't even see the pool. So I call Palm Tree and they said I can stay in the unit we are in for a discount or they can move us to bld 7, 2nd floor. Problem is the other unit is occupied and we can't move until after 3pm the next day.
So we decided to move (and I'm glad we did. It was closer to the pool and it had books, games ,movies, towels, etc. Extras that the other unit was lacking.) BUT we couldn't really unpack our first night and everything had to go back in the rental car before we left for the parks the next morning. PITA!
I emailed them upon our return and never got an answer as to why we didn't get the unit we were promised.
I love WH but will definitely go through one of the owners here, on the DIS. Plus we are going to try a house next time because there will be more of us going.

PS: Wanted to add that Jerry did respond to my email and say he was going to look into it. But that was the last I heard from him. Palm Tree never responed until one of the owners showed up here. He PMed me to appologize, said he had no record of my email. Still no explanation as to why I was promised a specific unit and didn't get it.

Hmm very strange, never heard of a situation like that. I've heard of someone having a major problem with a home (say a plumbing leak), and upgrading their guests to a larger pool home or something similar, but that's a very rare and unusual occurrence and usually there's a good explanation for it!

We had heard of a homeowner in EI who got their house infested by fleas and the next guests had to move out, the prior rentors had "snuck" their dog into the home (not allowed in their home) and the entire house became infested. $1600 later in damages + paying for rent in a new home for their next guests + lost revenue, the problem is now fixed (that's why most people won't accept pets!). The prior guests don't understand why they could be responsible either, not a pretty situation at all...long story I probably shouldn't be airing on here...I digress.... :offtopic:


Next time, come stay with us if you like! :) No switcheroo here! Most of the owners own 1 home too, so if you're renting direct from an owner you can be pretty sure that's what you're getting. I caution people all the time though, make sure you see LOTS of pictures of the SPECIFIC place you're renting, that way there's no surprises when you get there!

I also booked windsor hills townhouse this year instead of nick hotel - which we stayed at the last two times at disney. we have 3 kids, 12, 8, 6 (ages at time we will be at disney)and cant wait for the extra space, washer/dryer and kitchen. nick hotel was great for the pool, but the food was awful (unless you did pizza hut) and was not that great of a bargain. also, we are going for 9 nights, so french fries and chicken fingers will get pretty old (even for my kids :lmao: ). Kids eat free, is all buffet with same sub par food every night.

I got a great rate,at windsor hills - and can go shopping for some healthy snacks, as well as breakfast cereals, fruits, bagels etc. nick hotel had small fridge and only a microwave. it gets real expensive eating out all meals everyday. also, although my kids loved the pool area at nick - it really is hard to top, they did not like the crowds and we were there in november ! we also just returned for disney cruise, and kids did not like the crowded pool on sea days - i am excited for windsor hills with all the ammenities, and not a crowded pool.

Windsor Hills is a wonderful place to stay as everyone has mentioned! The pool, the playground and how close and convenient it is to everything!!!
