We Invite You to Relax as the Dining Room Proudly Presents a TR! *The End 12/24 Pg44*

Well it sounds like you had a better morning at AK than EPCOT or MK before it. :thumbsup2

It's so true about the tigers acting just like house cats. Everytime I see a lion or tiger it seems like they do something that reminds me of my cat.

I can't believe that Marc talked you into going on Everest! You definetly don't look like you're having any fun in that photo.

Oh LL!

But you had me rolling!!!! :rotfl: That EE pic is the BEST. You and Marc have completely opposite faces - glee versus terror - and of course you didn't see the Yeti, your eyes were closed tight! The Yeti is HUGE, but he doesn't swipe his hand anymore over the train car - he broke years ago and for some reason Disney hasn't fixed him. I've seen him working once, it was nuts! But now he stands there, his arm is kinda extended and they have a strobe light on him so it looks like he's moving as you fly by.

I'm sorry you didn't like it - but at least you gave it a try, right?! :thumbsup2

Love the impromptu DIS meet! That is just fantastic! You and Marc both snagged some wonderful pictures all around AK.

Well, I can say I have ridden every ride at Disney at least once except for Rock n' Roller Coaster and Mission:Space, and I don't plan on fixing that. I always think I am going to be all big and brave and ride some of them again, but I always seem to chicken out. They are scary! ::yes::

Yes, sometimes it is boring waiting -- we could shop together while we waited on the rest of them. :thumbsup2
I don't plan on riding those either, or Tower of Terror. Just not going to do it!

Yes, a shopping buddy would be good!

I guess I missed your last update so I got a double dose today! :thumbsup2 Sorry about the laundry/pool meltdown... my theory is that you have to have at least one & the best parts of the trip can't happen until after the meltdown. It usually happens that way for me anyways! :rolleyes1

Your AK day sounds great. Fun DIS meet! :cool1:
Oh, it was ameltdown alright. I'm just glad it passed quickly!

Well, at least you can say you conquered EE! :thumbsup2 And you never have to ride it again. :rotfl:

My cousins did that to me with the ToT; they just wouldn't give up, so I rode it once. Hated it with a fiery passion but now I never have to do it again. :worship:
I will never be riding it again, you got that right! :lmao:

The EE picture is too funny. At least you gave it a try once. This way you know, right? ;)
Oh I know, but I can tell you that I won't be trying TOT anytime soon!

Well it sounds like you had a better morning at AK than EPCOT or MK before it. :thumbsup2

I can't believe he did either, I think him going off by himself all the time made me feel guilty. I won't have those feelings ever again, I don't want to do TOT!

Oh LL!

I'm glad you enjoyed my terror. :lmao: Marc really wants to frame that picture in the living room, me on the other hand goes into a panic attack everytime I see it!

Thursday September 9, Part Two.

We left off with my ill fated ride on Expedition Everest. I was shaking and not feeling too great.

I was in need of some Finding Nemo!! We were let right into the theater and had great seats. It was nice being a bit higher up then I have been previously, I got to see more of what was going on.

Marc loved Nemo but he said it wasn't better than EE. :lmao:

Marc was on a mission after Nemo, he wanted to ride Dinosaur. I had been planning on riding this with him but decided I had enough thrills for the day so I decided to go shopping. I found a cute pink hat (I have pictures of it later) and just bummed around trying to stay cool.

It seemed like it took him FOREVER to ride Dinosaur so I tried to be patient. He finally texted me and then got lost trying to find me in front of It's Tough to be a Bug.

We hopped into line for ITTBAB and only had about a 5 minute wait until the next show started. It was a great time. I love this show, my secret favorite thing is to see how it long it takes for the first kid to have to be taken out of the show. Does that make me evil? :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

After the show, we were pretty well done with AK. It was hot and we were tired so we headed out.

A pretty picture on the way out.

We waited about 10 minutes for a bus to arrive but it felt like much much longer in the heat. The bus was stopping at POFQ first and we decided to hop off and see if I could get a Taco Salad like I had in January.

No such luck! Apparently Disney has gotten rid of the taco salads in favor of the make your own salads. I wasn't thrilled with that choice so I ordered the quesadillas and Marc ordered a shrimp po boy. We took our food to go and went towards the boat, thinking if one wasn't there we would walk back. As luck would have it a boat was just about to depart so the captain was nice enough to wait for us to hop onboard.

Our food.

Mine was delicious and Marc's was good but he said he was expecting more, he said it was pretty plain. He liked it though, he said it was good to be able to order something different.

After I ate my lunch, I crashed. All I remember is laying on the bed and falling into a deep sleep. Marc snoozed a bit but he was awake before me.

We tried to decide what we were going to do for dinner. We weren't hungry yet but we knew we would be before long.

I batted my eyelashes and said I wanted Wolfgang Puck Express again but I didn't want to travel to DTD. Marc offered to go pick up dinner and dessert. I decided to go get myself a Pina Colava and sit by the pool and read.

It felt like it took Marc forever to go to DTD and back, he was gone at least 90 minutes if not closer to 2 hours. I had a nice time by myself though, I sat and relaxed by my favorite quiet pool and read my book. I don't remember what book I was reading at this point. Let's just say that I brought 6 books on vacation and I had to buy another one to read while I was down there. One of the books I read was really good and it seemed so familiar to me and to my surprise it ended EXACTLY like another book I had started reading at home and couldn't finish. W it was the first book that went with the one I had at home. What I did read made so much more sense to me and I still have it to read the whole thing still.

Marc joined me at the pool and we went for our ONE and ONLY night swim! Can you believe we only went swimming once while it was dark? I couldn't. It was lovely though.

Back at the room we ate our dinner.

Chicken fingers & mashed potatoes for me.

Meatloaf again for Marc.

Marc also stopped and bought some more fudge for us.

And cookies.

Overall it was a very good day.

Coming up...
Relaxation, Leslie Style.

Sounds like a nice peaceful evening!

I must be a bit evil too, because I'm always waiting to see how quick the first kid is taken out of there. I myself, have only traveled with twisted kids who get great joy out of that kind of stuff. :rotfl:

So glad the rest of AK day was more peaceful. Did Marc like Dinosaur? It is pretty scary. I think way scarier than EE. Sounds like you had a nice peaceful night.

That fudge looks amazing! Yum Yum Yummy!

What a fun update. Your Nemo pictures are so bright and vibrant. Simply gorgeous.

You had such a nice, relaxing day. I am so loving that you took a wonderful nap and then chilled by the pool. Lovely. You make me want to go back to the private pool at POR right now!

Thank you for being brave enough to try EE so that I don't ever have to! :upsidedow

Great tiger pics. They are always sleeping when I see them!

ACK! Bats! You need a warning before putting those up! :scared1:

All of your food pics are making me hungry!!!

Relaxing by the pool while DH goes to get dinner...AWESOME! So funny about ITTBAB! I haven't taken my kids there (for obvious reasons), but I'd love to see it without them and try your little experiment!!!:rotfl2:

I'm glad you got some time to rest & relax. And I'm glad you took Mark up on his offer to go for dinner at DTD... he owed you from earlier in the day! :thumbsup2

You know how they say a picture is worth 1,000 words? I think this picture says it all.

That ride is NOTHING like BTMRR! Nothing!

Now that you've done this, you can do anything!

Marc, Marc, Marc...Expedition Everest is nothing like Big Thunder Mountain.
Your wife may never trust you again.

Love your game in It's Tough to be a Bug! :lmao: I don't think it makes you evil at all -- of course, this is coming from the woman who laughed the entire time at her own kids for being curled up in little balls of shaking terror all through the show. (I did warn them though.) :rotfl:

What a lovely relaxing evening! Although that box of fudge is making me drool! What a wonderful assortment of goodies Marc brought back!

Awww...I love Finding Nemo...what a fun show!!! I'm glad you were able to relax and enjoy the show!!!!

YAY for more pool time and just simply relaxing with a good book!!

HHHMMMMMM.....WPE...how I wish to eat at thee now!

Yay for Finding Nemo-it is on our list for Dec.Marc owed you a few hours peace for his EE stunt. Dinner looked yummy and yay for swimmimg!!

Not sure if someone already answered this regarding the broken Yeti - but here's the scoop. The Yeti actually still works - however the concrete slab he stands upon has a large crack across it. With the slightest movement (and without knowing when it would possibly happen) the slab could give way and the huge, heavy Yeti would plummet down below and thus is a safety hazard to Disney Guests below, and the lost expense of this elaborate animatronic.

Now then - for my chuckle of the day. We (my oldest daughter and her husband, my husband and I) are going to WDW in January. I was in tears when I found out a few days ago that my favorite ride (Splash Mountain) would be closed for the month. Add onto that the raft in AK would also be closed... ARGH!!!! Now, we've all ridden splash mountain enough to not let it ruin our trip - but my daughter has never been to AK and wasn't happy to hear Kali would be closed also.

So - the "bad Mom" in me sent her a message today asking if she had read the news regarding Kali Rapids and the Yeti. She said no - what's up? I then proceeded to tell her the Disney had closed the ride indefinitely in hopes of fixing the Yeti. (believable eh?) Well, I let her have a few appropriate responses (LOL) and then I typed: By the way - I never was able to give you an April Fool's Day joke this year - so count this as paid in full". :rotfl:

She said, "FUMING -but laughing. Not funny!" So I told her to pay it forward to her husband, which she willingly did. After she revealed the truth, he asked if we (me and my daughter) needed a course in lying. :sad2:

Back to your TR. I loved the picture from behind of the twins holding hands and walking close together. I can't imagine what a special bond twins can have. Looking forward to more post. :surfweb:

Despite Everest and the lack of taco salad, it sounds like you had a great day. How strange that they discontinued those.

Finding Nemo is such a fantastic show. I'm really hoping to be able to see it again next time I'm at AK.

Marc's shimp po boy sure does look good. Too bad it doesn't sound as good as it looks.

I totally forgot to mention that it was SOOOOOOOOOO great to meet you too!!!! We had such a nice time sharing our Safari with you, and spending just a little time with you and Marc! If I remember correctly we saw a TON of animals- it was one of my better Safaris for sure!! :thumbsup2

And NOW I"m finally caught up! Your update makes me want to be at POR right now!!! Sitting by the pool with a cool drink and good book!! Ahhhh....:cloud9:

Wow Marc is a keeper...going all the way to DTD alone to get you dinner?!?! How can I convince Randy to do this???? :confused3
