My wife and I are back from our no-kids DL trip, and we had a great time! It rained on and off and was cool to cold, but we enjoyed ourselves anyway. Here is the quick and dirty.

Overall, somewhat cold and wet, but not too bad. We brought rain jackets and were ready to wander around in the cold. It did not rain all that much overall, but it was wet at times. Wed, the crowds were light and rides were walkons. Thursday the weather was nicer (shorts, short sleeves, and a windproof vest for me), which meant more crowds and slower lines. Single rider at Indy is AWESOME!!! My wife and I beat 65 minute waits by using single rider and we did some repeat rides three times in a row! Thanks for tips everyone!

Vons rocks, and GCH took our order without our presence even though it included alcohol. We just let bell services know in advance. The Villas are great, and the little studio kitchenette is very useful. We had a partially obstructed DCA view in 4510. BTW, the fitness center is nice. My wife and I went in and worked off our goodies and gave us more incentive to splurge later :)

Harold's limo service is very nice. He is a little more chirpy than I preferred, but he was professional, timely, and curteous. The limo is showing a little age, but overall it was a nice treat.

Napa Rose Chef's Counter is outstanding. We were chatted up by the assistant executive chef and the executive chef too! I learned, though, that you can request to split the Vintner's Menu, which would have been better. It is really just too much food, and quite frankly, the most expensive dinner my wife and I have ever had :scared1:

Screamin and Tower of Terror fastpasses are still disconnected from DL fastpasses. We had fastpasses for both tower and screamin but were able to get space and indy fastpasses without a problem.

World of Color was cancelled the only night that we could see it due to high winds, but it looked like it would be worthwhile to see. Also, there is a ton of construction going on at DCA, and wihile I knew about it, it was really something else alltogether to see in person. If I was only going to go every other year, I would pass until everything is done.

In the end, while I had pangs of guilt for not bringing the kids, it was truly worth it for my wife and I to do. We were able to take our time, skip Fantasy Land and Toon Town, shop at liesure along Main Street, and skip Aladin at the last minute to go get drinks at Tortilla Joes. The freedom of being able to hang out at the Hearthstone Lounge in the GCH as long as we waned was so nice, and something to really relish as busy parents.

Thanks to everyone who helped an provided encouragement and advice. We had a great time and look forward to going again in a few years, but this time with our kids :)

Sounds like you had an awesome time. Thanks for sharing!:goodvibes

Thanks so much for sharing! You're a very valued member on the DISboards and it's so nice to hear you had a really good trip! :)

Thanks everyone! We had a really great time together, and found that we didnt ride a bunch of the standards (Matterhorn, etc.), but returned to the favorites over and over. It was very relaxing, which I didnt know was even possible at DL :)

We are going to go in a couple years when our youngest DD is 6 so that she can better enjoy it and remember her trip!

Glad you had a great time! As an adult with no kids, we LOVE Disneyland! And yes, it's different than it is for our friends with kids, but it's fantastic.

Here's to next time,
Dreams

We were there at the same time as you Yukon (as previously stated) and this was our first trip. We were actually happy with the way the weather worked out, considering this was the DW's first ever trip to DLR.

Friday night got nasty (and they cancelled the fireworks and both F! shows and apparently WOC). We were disappointed in that but we were fortunate enough to take in WOC on Thursday night.

Even the local news channels out there made it seem grave....overall though, we enjoyed the trip alot and were glad it wasn't a total wash (although we had record high temps back here in St Louis while we were there :confused3)

Sounds like a great trip! Just to clarify, you had 65-minute waits mid-week in the rain? I'm really surprised at that. I seriously didn't think there were still 65 minute waits mid-week. I guess I'm naive!

Thanks for sharing. My wife and I will hopefully be buying AP's for the family this year with our tax return and were planning on doing the first trip by ourselves just to get reacquainted with the park. My wife and I both have not been to DL for years.

On Friday Matterhorn had waits of 45 minutes, Space Mountain was 60, Indy was 65. Fastpasses for Indy and Space at 4pm had a return time of 9:05. Friday was waaaay more crowded than Thursday. Of course when the rain blew in Friday night we only had to wait 10 minutes for Matterhorn.

I was pretty surprised too! The waits were much longer than I expected. Apparently there was a conference there (Disney Investor's Conference?) that I could not have planned for. It was scheduled after I made our reservations. I think because Indy was down on Wed most of the day, it was much busier because people were trying to ride it that couldnt while it was down. But, even Soarin was really busy, which suprised me for a wed and thurs.

I kind of anticipated longer lines on Friday both because of the long weekend, and the weather was nicer in the morning. We would have loved to have seen WOC, but the best night for it was Thursday and we had reservations for Napa Rose!
