This year we have chosen to drive form nj ... I have done it a couple of times... But not recently... Have any suggestions...

Our time share isnt until july 14 which is day during the week i think a wed. - to wed....so i was thinking about leaving the saturday morning before and visit my family in va first than leave on monday and get to orlando on tuesday and stay near downtown disney... What do you think...

well since va where they live is 12hrs... i was thinking around 4am...or maybe leave right after work friday... around 6 pm... i am not sure i havent done this in a long time...

From what I know, and what we experienced last summer, Saturday would be the worst day to drive south on 95 because of beach traffic. it can be a total parking lot from Washington to Richmond. I would recommend leaving Sunday to avoid the major traffic headaches.

Folks have posted that Fridays are worse, so leaving after work on Friday could be terrible too.

Having said all that, we're leaving on a Saturday and still can't decide if we should do 95/301/95 or 81/77/26/95. Hard decision to make.

I work right of 95 ... but I have to travel 1hr to get home first than back to 95 so I still am working on it... but if anyone else have any more suggestions... i would appreciate them.

Wow, it takes you 12 hours to get from NJ to VA? I was figuring in 12 hours we would be in one of the carolinas! that puts a huge monkey wrench in my plans!!

We drive every year in Nov. We have left @ 2 or 3 am usually on a Fri or Sat without any problems but I don't know about July. If someone thinks summer traffic posed a problem I would leave around 2 or 3 am. We have also left after dinner time around 6:30 and didnt have any problems as well. Worst trip ever made was leaving NJ @ 1pm what was I thinking, sat in DC/Virg traffic for 4 hrs. Never, ever will do that again. There is always a chance of heavy traffic patterns but leaving early, early morning is usually the best bet.

We can make it to Santee SC (no traffic issues) in 11 or 12 hrs.

I am sorry ... no in va about about 2hrs from the far side of va... so she is down the end of the state but really far in...
