I know it's only February however to be on the safe side, my family & I have made reservations for 4 Hampton Inn locations off Interstate 75 when we drive to WDW this Summer. The 1st night we are staying in Cleveland Tennessee & the 2nd night in Valdosta Georgia at the Hampton Inn & Suites Valdosta/Conference location. Driving back home from WDW we are staying in Dalton Georgia & the night before we get home we are in Troy Ohio.

Be sure to check hotel rates as your travel dates get closer because often the rates will come down.

I think you're cutting yourself short that second day. You're making it almost all the way from Toronto to Chatanooga that first day but the second day you're just covering Georgia. At Valdosta you're just about 3 hours away from Orlando! Unless you're getting a late start that day or doing some touristy things along the way, I think you're going to find youself at Valdosta by 3pm saying to yourself, we could have gone further! (There is a Hampton Inn at Gainesville, Florida, 1.5 hours south of Valdosta.)

My Dad booked the reservations on the Hampton Inn website & clicked for the AAA rate, or in our case the CAA rate. Actually I should mentioned we are 1st driving to Clearwater Beach & going to WDW a week later. Also we prefer to start our vacation on a Monday & not Sunday, besides we love staying in Valdosta because of the shopping & etc. Finally from Cleveland Tennesse to Valdosta Georiga, it's about a 6-7 hour drive so after that my Dad would want to stop driving for the day.

<-- Staying at the same Hampton on the way down in March.

Up until a few years ago, we never made reservations along the way ahead of time because either we drove all the way or we had no problem stopping and finding a room. However, a few years ago we left about 4 hrs later than planned, a wreck on the interstate caused another 2 hr delay so we wanted to stop around 10 pm, but couldn't find a room - at every exit all hotels were booked. We ended up staying at our original destination arriving @ 4 am (Good thing we couldn't cancel).

Boy did I hear it for about 5-6 hrs that night. :headache:   (It wasn't from the kids since they were all sleeping.

Since then we book about 6-8 months on advance and it makes a great story with the friends and family. :rotfl:

We stayed at the Dalton, GA Hampton Inn last week on the way home. It was one of the nicest Hampton Inns we have been to!!! Make sure the one in Valdosta is not at Exit 5 -- the hotel was run down, they had trouble getting rid of a large snake at the pool door, and we had homeless people sleeping in the hallways!

We don't need to worry about which Hampton Inn we are staying at. We are staying at the one of Exit 16, which is the same location we stayed at last year. The only time we get off at Exit 5 is to shop at the Lake Park Outlet Mall before drving into Florida.

I've already made my hotel reservations for my October drive down. I'm leaving on a Friday night after work and will get to Macon, GA. (That puts me through Birmingham about 7:15 pm and through Atlanta around 9:30 pm, well after rush hour). Then will continue to WDW. That will get me to WDW about 1pm checkin time for Ft. Wilderness, then spend the rest of Saturday setting up.

Coming home, I'll break camp and check out on Saturday, spend all day Saturday at the parks, then drive up to Ocala, FL. Then I'll finish the drive on Sunday.

We are staying at Hampton Inns in Emporia and Brunswick on our way to WDW in June. Hamptons are our favorite place to stopover especially since they put in all those great beds.
