We have a 11 night trip planned mid July at the GF but are obviously having concerns about what our experience will be like. We are concerned about contracting the disease, of course, but we're also concerned if we’ll still be able to enjoy the things about the GF that has made it special to us - lounging by the pool, playing with our kids in the pool, having a drink or two in the bar, bringing back breakfast to our room from Gasparilla’s in the morning, listening to the music in the lobby. I’m wondering if any of you have any ideas what some resort specific restricts will be. Thanks!

We all have concerns, I have an Aug trip booked. But we just don’t know what WDW and resorts will look like. I‘ve read some things about increased sanitization of pool lounges and being 6’ apart which means less lounges around pool. So it may be difficult to get a lounge. And the Courtyard pool has always been difficult to find Lounges mid day at least.
Seating at restaurants further apart, disposable paper menus, hand sanitizer at tables. Servers wearing masks.
Taking coffee makers out of rooms o_O I really don’t understand that one as they can be wiped down and sanitized.
Housekeeping won’t be daily, I think we have to request when we want it.
But we really won’t know exactly what it will look like until it opens.

We cancelled our trip to Disneyland this July. I just don't see any parks open by then. For July they essentially have 8 weeks to decide for each park how and if they social distance, enforce the rules, safe number of guests (if any), clean the park, how often to clean, and on and on.

And besides the logistic problems, there will be the threat of lawsuits. Finally, Disney has not announced anything. Not a word that i have seen.

July is a bit of a gamble. We are currently booked for the beginning of October and i'm holding out the hope that Disney would have figured out the logistics by then. If we are paying thousands to visit the parks but if they aren't up and running at capacity is it even worth it. We are holding on to our reservation and will wait until September. My husband said if it is mandatory to wear masks we will be rescheduling for next year.

We have two trips booked in September. One for POR and one for BWI. We are thinking about ditching BWI if the experience will be limited and going with cheaper POR. Both are free dining so there's that. We want to just give them our money so they can start to recover and get back to full experience.

We have a late June trip booked and are still holding onto hope. I think the reason they haven't announced anything past May 23rd yet is because they are hopeful to open sooner rather than later, but the are waiting to see how things change in the next few weeks.

I doubt Disney is worried about lawsuits over this virus. With the long incubation period, it would be impossible to prove where you got it from. You could have gotten on the plane on the way there. You could have picked it up at the grocery store a week before you even got to Disney. No way that any lawsuits of that nature get awarded.

I rescheduled my July trip to December. I may have to reschedule again, but I feel a bit safer making this decision. For me, it was not just COVID but also the experience. Vacation will be different after this, no doubt, but I also would hate for my trip to be in the middle of the phased openings and therefore highly affected.

Until Disney makes an announcement, there is just no way of knowing what will be offered or what will be restricted. I would wait until an official announcement and then make a decision from there as to whether you want to continue with your trip or not.

Since they aren’t taking any reservations until June it would make sense.
Yes, but what the pp is saying is that until today, they were still letting late-May guests keep their existing reservations. Now they have officially cancelled those as well (they have been doing rolling cancellations each week).

I’d just wait until Disney itself OFFICIALLY announces changes. The I heard from someone or I read somewhere that the changes are.....
That is pure speculation that is not official. The truth is nobody knows and you can’t believe what is posted.

I can’t speak to the future, but I can tell you what resort life was like in March for the few days after the parks closed. Keep in mind, though, that the whole social distancing thing didn’t really have legs yet at that point. The pools were open and pool games were running, but the kids didn’t share the toys and those types of activities were excluded from the roster. All of the table service restaurants were open, but the bars were shuttered (by order of the governor) midweek. All of the QS were open but Gasparilla Grill was not open its usual 24 hours. There were no performances in the GF lobby that week. Character meals were on for the most part, but they were heavily modified (no photos or hugs with the characters). We had a wonderful time, but we often do resort-heavy stays as we go frequently, so we did not feel like we were missing out on any experiences.

That being said, I feel like the situation is a totally different animal now and the whole setup would be much stricter in terms of distancing, etc. I think that those of us with summer trips are just going to have to wait for news regarding what is open and when, and within that, what changes will be made and the level of those changes that each of is okay to tolerate.

The overall experience of a Disney trip (resort and parks) will inevitably be different. There's no way to know the exact details of the extent of the modifications until they are announced, but I would start thinking about what your dealbreakers are IF the parks are open in July.

For that matter, they don't know. For instance, a lot of restaurants are facing the same supply chain issues that are now causing groceries to restrict meat purchase. Even with limited guest count, to even open Gasparilla (or any other QS or TS) requires resupply that may not be possible. Until they try to put through orders with delivery dates, they won't know either.

This is exactly what we did and what I suggest. Our trip was being planned for next year around this time and even still we would have dealbreakers. But without any concrete information I think it’s hard to tell anyone what they should do or expect.

Have trips scheduled for late June (rebook from April) and late August. Not planning on making any changes until I have some info. We'll know when they tell us.

I think we're gonna wait until 2021 for any sort of vacation, specifically for Disney World or a Disney Cruise. Can save up money for nicer accommodations and let the kinks of re-opening work itself out
