Friday morning, while my dog, Kirby, and I were out for our walk, we found two puppies, about two months old, that had been dumped. One, a female, was very healthy and playful but the other, a male, was sick. After bringing them home and giving them food and water the male perked up but he definately was malnourished.
My DH put them in the back of his truck and took them to the pound. When he got there, the female was gone. He assumed that she had jumped out of the back. He left the male there and went on his way. That night, he and our DS left to go on a Boy Scout campout. The female was discovered in the back of his truck at the church the Boy Scouts were meeting at. She had crawled up under his tool box and had gotten pinned under there by his butane tank. Fortunately it had rolled out enough for her to stick her head out and some of the boys saw her. She never once made a sound to let someone know that she was there.
So he brought her home and we are going to keep her since it seems she was meant to stay. We are calling her Dixie. She is black mostly with a little white on her chest and most of her toes are white. She appears to have some Lab in her. Her feet are as large as Kirby's and he weighs 63 pounds, so we look for her to be a big dog too. She has a new collar so she is officially "part of the family".
