We HAD To Go Back Right Away! WL Sept 2010 updated 2/5/11

Day 1 - Dinner at 'Ohana

We left our room and followed the signs to the boat dock. We kinda knew our way because we had been here once before back in May when we came to WL for dinner at Whispering Canyon.

We waited on the dock for about 5 minutes and got on the boat. The boat was one of the smaller ones so I had to get Max out of the stroller and fold it up before getting on.

Once we got off the boat at MK ...

it was so good to be back .. this was our first glimpse of MK since we were last here and it was an awesome feeling to know we had our whole vacation ahead of us

... we went up the ramp to catch the monorail to the Poly.

We were no strangers to the Poly or 'Ohana so we knew exactly where to go and what to do. While Traci checked in, I snapped our first Disney pic (besides room pics etc)

Within a few minutes our buzzer went off and we were shown to our table. This time, we were seated in the main floor where all the action takes place.

It wasn't long until the feast began! First came this...

We had barely got food on the kids plates before it was time for some coconut bashing. Max loved it as you can see!

disney164.jpg

Next was some singing - Brooklyn went out into the middle but Paris sat at the table instead, more content on eating

disney154.jpg

After that round of activity subsided, we had time to do some serious eating

Here was our delicious dessert that we love so much

The kids had ice cream

But Max didn't enjoy his LOL

As always, we couldn't eat as much as we said we were going to. Once we were done, we made our way back to our room, put the kids to bed and finish off the unpacking.

We had an early start tomorrow morning to catch the extra magic hours at MK :thumbsup2

Up next... Magic Kingdom, dole whip floats and rides

Awesome update!

Mmmmm Ohana...definitely one of my fave restaurants in all of wdw.

Can't wait to hear about your first day at the MK:goodvibes

Great update. Ohana looks awesome. I've only ever eaten there for breakfast, and when I see the pictures from dinner, it just makes me want to go there.

Still waiting for an update. Your TRs are about the most enjoyable ones I've read.

Day 2 9/11/10 Magic Kingdom

Our plan for Day 2 was to get up early and get over to Magic Kingdom for extra magic morning hours. We got the kids up, dressed and a quick breakfast of pop-tarts and donuts in the room before heading out to the boat dock.

We snapped some photos on the way. Yes, it's humid, can you tell? haha

After our experience back in May 2010, we were surprised how empty it was in the park. Of course, back in May we never made it to extra magic morning hours because we had breakfasts scheduled each morning. We just walked right up to the character spots without hardly a wait at all!

We then headed over to Adventureland for some dole whip floats (Yum!) and rides.

The kids stopped to chat with Aladdin

before making our way to Frontierland to ride Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Paris was tall enough to ride both rides and we were surprised that she would do it. She is pretty much a scaredy cat when it comes to rides. It turned out we LOVED Splash Mountain! We rode it once with Brooklyn back in May but for some reason we didn't love it like we did in September. Weird. We ended up riding it several times because the crowds were pretty non-existent.

After a really good experience in Magic Kingdom, it was time for lunch. We got on the monorail to CR and ate at the Contempo Cafe. It was fun walking into the CR again

Next, it was time for naps and an evening at Sanaa for our 9th anniversary dinner. We walked into our hotel room to find a little surprise or 3 waiting for us

Next up, dinner at Sanaa

Here are our Photo Pass pictures from Day 2.. forgot to post them in my previous post.

Day 2 - Sept 11 2010 - 9th Anniversary dinner at Sanaa

This was our first experience at Sanaa and Animal Kingdom Lodge. We drove there easily enough. I liked how each restaurant has it's own parking and access. Pretty cool.

Getting from the parking lot to Sanaa was a little more challenging though but we got there eventually. I really liked the theming at AKL, especially the cool motifs and decorations on all the hotel room doors and walls.

There was quite a wait for our table for some reason. We snapped some pics while we waited

The girls and I explored outside and looked at the animals that were grazing off in the distance

Finally, we were seated at a nice, big, round table

and we gave the waitress our drinks orders.

The kids got tinkerbell and buzz lightyear drinks, which kept them entertained for a while

We absolutely love Indian food. We eat at a local Indian restaurant pretty much every weekend and everyone enjoys it, so we were really looking forward to eating at Sanaa. We were disappointed to see that the kids menu consisted of no Indian food whatsoever, and the girls were really craving it. Traci spoke with the waitress and asked if they could order some Indian food instead of what's on the menu and she said that wouldn't be a problem at all.

Here's what came out for the kids

DSC02314.jpg

Traci got a cheesey paneer spinach dish

DSC02313.jpg

and I got the red and green curry

DSC02316.jpg

Mine was a little on the chincey side! Not really much meat at all. It tasted OK though, but nothing to write home about.

Everyone else really enjoyed theirs.

Dessert was really delicious and definitely writing home about!

That chai cream was just delectable!

DSC02329.jpg

Had we known that the chai cream tasted like that, Traci and I would have ordered a big bowl of it instead of the trio platter!

The kids got ice cream and chocolate cake, which went down well as usual.

Overall, Sanaa was pretty good. It wasn't outstanding and we were slightly disappointed that there wasn't anything fun or special for our anniversary, despite putting it down on our ADR and tellng the waitress when we first sat down. We expected a little more out of Disney than that :confused3

Next up, Day 3 - resort day, beach, pool and 'Ohana for dinner.

Yay updates! Ok, seriously that photopass picture of Max with Aladdin is priceless! He looks like he is telling him something so serious!

I am with you about Sanaa. I ate there when they first opened and I wasn't that impressed with it. Nothing horrible about it, just a little bit underwhelmed.

Thanks! It was a very serious conversation about if we got wet or not on the Magic Carpet Ride!

Subscribing! I just read your entire TR from your first trip (well what's there so far!) and I had to stop in here to read all about the second trip. I said this in my reply to your 1st TR, but I love reading about how your family enjoyed the parks and restaurants, I have a princess: 3 year old dd princess: so it is really helpful to see how other young families made their way through WDW. Thanks for sharing & I look fwd to reading more!

I just read your PTR. You are on your way to SO MUCH fun!

Hi! Reading both of your trip reports and can't wait for more!
We are going in may this year and our first visit was a low season/ crowd trip so I'm interstrd in seeing how they were different for you. I'm especially interested in the pictures Of max. They make me think of my ds, also 2. He thinks he is as big as his sister though, and can do all that she can. I'm hoping that translates to brave character and ride experiences like max. I also wanted to ask where you got all his bibs at. My ds eats a lot and is a mess! At home we strip him down to the diaper. He's way too big for most bibs though, and yours look like they could be a better fit.

Thanks for reading. :) I got some of my bibs at Walmart and some at Target. Walmart has big 'CARS' ones now.

Also, if you look for an art bib. They are normally larget and often made of plastic. You could stash it in a baggie and rinse it in the room ready to pack next time.

Here is what I am talking about
