It took them a whole 24 hours longer than I had given them before one of the kitties got himself "treed" on the plant ledge in our foyer. We're working on a railing to put up there to prevent them from falling *off* the ledge and down to the foyer floor below once they get to that ledge, but haven't gotten it finished yet because all the parts haven't come in yet. It was rather nerve wracking trying to get the kitty off the plant ledge and foyer window-sill without him falling, but he made it.

So which kitty was brave enough to be the first to jump to the plant ledge and foyer window? (I'll have a picture in a few minutes)

I guess no one cares which cat, but you're getting pictures anyway ;)

I know if it was one of mine, it would be Cali. Simba's belly is too fat to jump that high.:teeth:

I care. Love the pics.:teeth:

Not hi, MaryJo -- down! We have an arched "window" from the gameroom overlooking the foyer and the stairs. The plant ledge is right below that window by about 4 feet, then another 11 feet or so to the foyer floor. It's less than a 2 foot jump from the plant ledge to that window ledge where I got a picture of Skye. I couldn't get any good ones of Skye actually *on* the plant ledge itself. You can sorta see the plant ledge in the picture where DH is having to rescue Skye -- look at the upper left. That rim above DH's shoulder is the edge of the plant ledge.

I see it. That is something Cali would do, she jumps from the stero to the curio to the top of the china cabinet. Simba can't do it, his belly won't let him. I can see Cali doing that. DH had to rescue Cali from the roof at 2:30 in the morning.

LOL, I'm glad the rescue was safe. :)

The highest point my baby has been treed is the highest shelf in our closet. She was scared and upset, and DH had to rescue her. She doesn't go climbing around in the closet anymore! Glad it all ended well!

Glad Syke didn't fall. :D We have a half-wall between our living-room and our foyer and when Sam was 7 weeks old he jumped on the wall and promptly fell off the other side, 10 feet!!! He landed on his side and knocked all the wind out of him. He hasn't gone near that wall since!

Where's your fireman's hat a red truck with that ladder?!?!:teeth:

What a beauTEEful kitty!!!!

Oh my goodness! Skye has grown so much!!! Such a big & beautiful baby he has become! Glad to hear he was okay though and didn't hurt himself with those jumps. That sounds like something Gwen would do, well Cleo too. They are nuts and love to sit up high. We actually made it so they were able to jump on top of my computer armoire as it is the highest piece of furnature we have.

Blaze has looked at it, but hasn't jumped down yet. We need to rig it so it's easy for them to climb/jump back *up* once they get down. I'd rather they learn to get out by going up than get out by going down!

Skye has grown :) He's a real sweetie-pest -- sweet to the point of being a pest most of the time  ;) But we love him anyway ;)

He just LOVES the top of the closet. That's his "SPOT". Whenever we can't find him, we just go into the master bedroom closet and sure enough, he's there.

He's also the one that walks along the outer edge of our bridge. He's fallen from there about 5 feet onto the staircase once, but luckily hasn't fallen the 12 or so feet to the living room floor on the other side. Blaze hasn't tried walking the outer edge yet that I'm aware of, but he does like to scare mama by curling up on the window ledge right next to my computer. That arched window looks out from the gameroom to the living room and if he falls there, it's onto the staircase about 7 or 8 feet down. That's where he is right now.

Yes, scare mama is right. When Sam fell off the wall, I heard the thump and came running. When I saw him lying on his side not moving, I couldn't make my feet move at first. I was so scared at what I was going to find when I got to him. Luckily he was just scared and winded. He didn't even flinch or meow when I checked him over. I think it took my heart longer than his to get back to a regular rate.
