We stayed at Swan for New Year's trip this year and loved it! Great location, great restaurants(both S&D) and we had teachers rate on CL of $214 and regular room would have been $149. You got a great deal!

hey can you tell me how the beds are, they are getting some
bad reviews at tripadvisor.com

Last fall we went through Hotwire and got a Dolphin room for $109.50 plus resort fee of $10 per night. We were not sure what kind of room we would get since we were getting a "deal".

We just returned Tuesday night. We were in a newly renovated no-smoking room on the 8th floor of the west wing. The room faced the Swan (and the lake between the Swan and Dolphin). We could look down and see the pool and the boat dock as well, could not see the EPCOT fireworks. This was a great room. It had the heavenly double beds and they truly were nice. Each had four down pillows. The room was quiet, with just a little hall noise in the morning. We slept well. The halls still have not been renovated; the bell man told us that they still had two floors to renovate rooms on before they started on the halls, but I did not think the halls looked bad at all; actually they were quite unique and just here an there there was a crinkle in the carpet apparently from equipment that was rolled on them during the room renovations.

We did check in about 9:30AM as we were moving over from the Port Orleans, and we were given our room immediately. Check in took no more than 5 minutes and we used express checkout so we were out in a flash. We did not have a towncar scheduled until 4:00PM the day of check out and we had to be out by 11:00AM so they stored our bags for us while we played at MGM that day.

The heavenly beds are very nice..and comfy..and the bedding is wonderful. I can't imagine why they would get poor reviews.

Remember, you can't please everyone and sometimes you just have to go and check things out for yourself.

It's common knowledge that TripAdvisor.com is a joke. Take anything that's posted there with a grain of salt.

Hey grimp,

WE have 4 in our family and need two double beds, can we
call the dolphin and request this?

did you run into this?

We were only two so we did not have this problem.

I did go to the Dolphin website after we made reservations via Hotwire and I did put in the reservation number. I got a message that we did have reservations, but that they were not available to view online because of the special rate.

It seemed to me that somewhere in the fineprint on Hotwire that the reservations were no-smoking and based on double occupancy, but that they could not guarantee if the room would be double beds or a king bed.

You may be able to contact Hotwire to get added information as to how to handle your problem. Also, the Dolphin will have you in their system so you could talk with them directly. I do not know, however, what their policy is on four in a room with Hotwire reservations.

Sorry I cannot be of more help.

I got the Dolphin two weeks ago on Priceline for my trip in late June for $69 a night. A lot of people have been getting the Dolphin for June and July. I checked Hotwire first to see if the Dolphin was available (not terribly hard to figure out if you know the amenities) for certain dates--if it came up on the high side (i.e., $160), I knew not to bid on Priceline for those dates. If it came up low on Hotwire (i.e., $94 a night), I figured it was safe to bid on those dates and that getting the $69 rate might be a possibility. Looking forward to our trip--it'll be our first time there!

we have tried priceline for the same trip for the last 3 weeks,
after hearing about your deal...

we got nothing and went to $100 a night! we are happy
with our deal!!

$122 seemed high considering the gov/mil/teacher/nurse discount for $139, but still a good price. I would hate to pay $122 and not get the Dolphin though. What were the amenities? Did they match the ones on betterbidding? I have not seen it come up for my dates in May. I wonder if May is a bad time for hotwire discounts?

As for as the number of beds, I think they only guarantee one bed. But since the WDW area hotels have more two double beds rooms than kings, you should be ok. Just request it when checking in or confirming you ressie.

Have a good trip!

we cannot get a teacher's rate and we called and the AP
rate for that time frame is $163 a night plus the $10 resort fee...
$173 then add tax..

we think we got a great deal even with an AP discount it is
only a little more than a moderate resort and this is nicer
than that!

if you look at just the hotwire rate is $97, I manually added in
the resort fee the dolphin charges you at check in per day! and taxes. the bottom line number is $97 for what i bid on.

does the teacher's rate include that? they told us the rates
quoted dont, so techinally it is alot cheaper.
it saves me over $200 more than the teacher rate even.

hellokitty ~ Good for you! We will be at the Dolphin at the same time (we are there - 7/16-7/21). I have the teacher rate at $139 that does not include the resort fee and taxes. You did very well!

I have always been too chicken to bid on those sites - what if I didn't get the S/D? I would be upset - I don't want to stay offsite.

Answered my own question. I can get about the same, just need to decide between late june and mid-july!!!

I am at the Dolphin on a Hotwire stay.

I have a room with two double beds which I did not request so I assume you could probably get one.

The best part is I have a balcony! Not the best view, but still.....

While the Dolphin has two Doubles, the Swan has 2 Queen beds! And they are the Westin "Heavenly Beds", and just wonderful; easily worth a little extra $ for the Swan, IMHO.::yes::

Okay I am a newbie.........I need to know how to find only the disney resorts on hotwire, can someone help me out. All I see are orlando disney area, not specific WDW resorts. Thanks!

the dolphin has been renovated from what i hear...
they are saying they have new mattress...
dont know what though

I got the Dolphin for $70 a day (not including taxes/fees) through Priceline for June 10-13. I was only bidding on part of my trip so I wouldn't get stuck at a hotel I didn't want to be at for my entire stay. Now to get up the courage to bid again for our June 6-10 dates or decide to book something outright. It's good to hear that people who went through Priceline or Hotwire didn't end up with "bad rooms".

wow, that is an awesome deal...
we tried a few times and never got that low.
