Now we just have to start using it! ;) We just got it this weekend. This will be the very first time in my life that I am going to exercise regularly. I've got 10 pounds of baby weight to lose(had my 3rd son in March) but more importantly, I just want to strengthen my legs and get my heart and lungs in better shape! I want to be in GREAT shape for our Disney trip in 8.5 months!!!! :) I'm a DISer on the move!!

Does anyone else use a treadmill? I only tried it out for a short time yesterday, but I have to say I really like the way it felt!

Let me know how you like it, once you really start using. DH's doctor suggested that he purchase one to help with his diet.

Congrats on your new clothes hanger:p

I found the only source of exercise I do regularly is my treadmill throughout the year(especially in the cool/cold weather of NE). My biggest hint to using the treadmill is use it in front of a TV. Time can drag when you're just walking to nowhere, but watching TV(especially something like Oprah, Inside Edition or Entertainment Tonite)makes time goes by pretty quickly.

My treadmill sits in my finished little breezeway room which has a TV in it so I can shut the door and not bother everyone with the racket it makes. I try to use it for a mile and a half(takes about 25 minutes max which is my attention span for exercise or else I wouldn't want to get on it) about 5 times a week in fall/winter/spring as I get more "natural" exercise in the summer so don't use it as much then.

I did lose a couple pounds this year without really changing my diet, but my goal was for toning my legs and I do like the muscle definition in my legs much better these days. I'll never have skinny legs, but at least my butt feels better in my pants! My DH wouldn't want me to lose all my butt, though! ;) ;) ;)

P.S. A trip to Disney is also a great incentive to get on that treadmill - on my most recent trip last month I was able to walk all day and never had a problem with achy feet/legs. I tend to daydream about my trips while on that treadmill.........:earsgirl:

I have 4 treadmills. I put one under each wheel of my car then I drive an extra 4.2 miles per day so that I feel like I am getting exercise.

I have not used one for walking, that kind of thing never really occurred to me but in the spirit of wanting to help, I did a little research and according to the Cartoon Network, you need a gray dog (preferrably named Astro), a cat, a leash and an anti-gravity device. Start off by walking the dog slowly on the treadmill then have the cat jump in front of the dog and let the dog and cat chase each other while you run behind. Once they get up to speed, the dog and cat will jump off and watch while you try to keep up. Don't worry if you fall since the anti-gravity device will hold you to the treadmill. For a fuller workout, each time you get back to your feet yell, "Help! Jane! Get me off this crazy thing! Help! Jane!" After about 3 episodes (I mean workouts) you should be thin and notice a lot more strength. In fact, you should be able to fold a car into a briefcase and carry it around all day.

Just a tip...We have ours in our "gym" with a TV that has a video cassette on it...I watch my "brainless" tv when I'm on the treadmill...Reality Shows, Oprah, Dr. Phil, etc. But we bought wireless headphones which really helps. You don't have to blare the sound to hear over the noise of the treadmill. Plus, since I work out at 4 am, the noise of the TV doesn't wake anyone else. I could not stay on the treadmill as long as I do without TV. Music doesn't do it for me, for some reason.

Im a die hard jogger(Ive only missed 3 days so far this year) and I like to walk 4-5 days a week too. Of course when the weather is bad it just about kills me to give it up. We purchased our treadmill last December and it was the greatest investment weve made. Its basically given me the peace of mind all winter long knowing I didnt have to worry about snow and cold, I could still get my jog in. DH also has started hopping on it some times at night after everyones asleep. We have really gotten a ton of use out of it.
Good luck!

My dad gave us his when he moved. We use it all the time, at least 5 times a week.
