Anyway, On Saturday, my DS14 was outside when he saw a puppy wondering around the neighborhood looking lost. She took one look at my son and decided he was hers! Of course, he brought her home for me to see and fall in love with. She's about 8 weeks old and a real sweetheart. Yes, of course we will take care of her till we find her owners, how could we not?

We ask everyone on our street and put up flyers all over the neighborhood. We post flyers in all the grocery stores and Wal Mart.
Now it is Monday and NO ONE has called about her! I called all the vet clinics and the local animal shelter today to see if anyone had looked there for her. The lady at the shelter dropped the bomb: she said out neighborhood is one of the worst for puppies being dumped! We live just inside the city limits with a large wooded area about 300 yards away and a Wal Mart 1/4 mile in the other direction. It seems that people will take their unwanted litters of puppies and kittens to Wal Mart parking lot on Saturday and try to give them away. If they can't, they take them down the road and dump them!

Well, now she is being well loved and cared for and if no one claims her we will continue to do so. We already have a nine year old toy poodle and two cats that were rescued from a dumpster last summer when they were two weeks old. We'll just add her to the mix! :grouphug:

This is just my little public sevice announcement for the day: Be responsible pet owners and HAVE YOUR PETS SPAYED OR NEUTERED or don't have pets at all! :dog2:

Bless you for taking care of that poor baby!

Well said and it can't be said enough.

Wow, glad the pup found a great place to live. You deserve a tag for this.

I wish more people would be a responsible with their pets as well.
It was nice of you to take the puppy in and care for it, but I was hoping to see a picture of the puppy.

I'm allergic to furbabies, so I live vicariously through pictures of other people's pets. ;)

Congrats! Looks like you have a puppy... Any idea what kind of dog she is? Kind of like getting a grab bag--you don't really know the contents at first glance! :teeth: Have fun with her and I'm glad that she found a good home. I cannot for the life of me imagine dumping an animal.

My two dogs are both strays. Magic was dumped when he was a couple years old and spent 2 years with a rescue group. Nobody wanted him when they would show him at Petsmart, etc. He chose my DD and he's been ours ever since (he's about 12yo now). Sheena was found by a teenage girl, I guess dumped also. She wanted to keep her, but couldn't afford the vet bill after someone ran off the road to hit the pup. My sister came on the scene right after she'd been hit and took her for the girl (the girl's dad didn't even know she had her). She wasn't too badly hurt, thankfully. My sister had a bad marriage end and couldn't keep Sheena, so she drove her from Idaho to me in Maryland and she's been with us for 2 1/2 years. So in her first year and a half she had 4 homes.

And all our cats (4 of them) are rescue cats.

poor little thing.......or rather, lucky little thing..She could have gotten run over, or attacked by animals. :cheer2: :cheer2: to you for taking her in.
My DS that lives in FL with his wife have 4 dogs and 3 cats that were dumped. They just can't say no, and love them all dearly, but their house is getting a little cramped. :earseek:

God bless you for what you have done! Please post a picture of the babe!

Nice to know you got a puppy. Sorry to hear people would just dump them off like that. I can't imagine doing something like that.

Good for you to take the puppy in! We got 2 of our cats that way. Seems people think that farms are great places to dump cats.

One showed up on our door step nothing but skin and bones and the other was pregnant and eventually ended up having 5 kittens on our couch!

That puppy knew what she was doing. :teeth:

Seems like that pup knew what she was doing! :)

My DMom lives on a farm on a side road with little traffic. Unfortunately, their house is a favorite dumping ground for unwanted animals. The recused and kept a nice little sheltie and reacently took care of a German Shepard pup and found him a nice home. Some people!

Thank you and bless you. I'm glad he found your family, a family who would love him and care for him. It makes me so MAD that people could just dump animals like that! You have a good heart, I can tell. :dog: :grouphug:

I knew there would be plenty of like-minded animal lovers here!

As for what breed she is, we think she is probably at least part red heeler, which is a breed of cattle dog. That would explain the markings and the one blue eye.

My son has decided to call her Jesse, since she is a cow-girl!

Now... here she is!

OMG! She is sooooo CUTE!!! Congradulations on the new addition! :dog2: :paw:

She's a cutie! The markings on her face and the blue eye reminds me of a Siberian Husky.
