The previous owner loved woodworking. He had heavy, dark wood paneling (not the kind in sheets, heavy wooden planks that fit together) in the other bedroom with extra closets that we ripped out a few years ago. He built all of the kitchen cabinets. The fake fireplace he built over the original closet in our bedroom looked great, he even used real brick! He had built a wood mantle and had wood paneling completely up the wall and onto the ceiling. But it just took too much space from the room and left us no options to move furniture around.

I can't wait for a few more years 'til we get around to tearing out the heavy paneling in the dining room!
