We finally drank the kool-aid...err, ate the French Onion Soup!

I like broccoli a great deal....but I like nuts and cheese as much or more.

I was suggesting that I wished I only had favorites that were good for me.

I just don't care much for nuts. :upsidedow It's a texture thing. I just hate the way they end up in my teeth! I don't mind them made into butters, or chopped very finely (in a food processor) and made into a crumb topping or crust. I just don't want to eat them in big pieces!

We all have something! Hey, I don't care for chicken, or beef, either, unless it's a really good (and I mean REALLY good) rare fillet. But I LOVE grapefruit!

Today is another day in which my non-cheese eating state caused issues!

I went out with some friends after our choir committee meeting to have dinner at the Union bar. I decided to have something with my favourite vegetable in - broccoli! This chat must of started a craving for it!

Anyway I ordered at broccoli and potato cake, with red cabbage (no mention of cheese on the description). Not thinking much about it, I ordered and sat down with my little buzzer so I can pick the food up at the Bar when it's done.

About 10 minutes later, my buzzer goes off (which was slightly sticky by the way... ewww), and I go up to collect the food, which I can see from the pass was COVERED in raw cheese! :scared1: I then take a closer look and see that the cheese is covering a horrid burnt mess!!

I quickly collect myself, and say to the lady serving that 'I am so sorry, I don't eat cheese', after the quick look of confusion on the poor woman's face, she asks 'Did it say cheese on the menu?', to which I reply I never would of ordered it if it had. She then replies 'Oh, so you're a vegan?'. Not wanting to eat the cheese covered pile of ashes, I lied and said 'yahuh' (not quite a yes enough for me to feel too guilty)

Luckily the woman serving was lovely, says it isn't a problem, and do I want to pick something of the menu that's vegan instead? Which, since I probably should of checked before ordering and then maybe not of lied, is pretty decent of her. So I chose the veggie burger which was meat and animal product free, and surprisingly tasty! I guess they must get it a lot since my university is a bit of a hippie hangout. :hippie:

But don't worry, I waited for her to turn her back before I picked up the mayonnaise to have on my fries (chips). :lmao:

Sometimes it is just easier to stretch the truth a little than to explain the whole situation. When we are ordering for my son in restaurants we just tell them he has a dairy allergy vs. getting into a whole big explanation about his disorder and why he can not have dairy.

My husband and I love cheese. We got the fixed lunch at Chefs de France once and it was very good...but also heavy because of all the cheese and then ending with the creme brulee, we were stuffed!

For you non-cheese lovers we ate this last trip at CdF and it was YUMMO! Chicken crepe with chocolate mouse cake and coconut ice cream. Cheese free and still delicious! (okay I think there might have been a little parmesan sprinkled in the crepe, but that was it I swear).

There are several things that make food taste better: Butter, cheese and bacon. :lmao:

I quote "Everything I like is either illegal, immoral or fattening." by Allexander Wollcott. Only part that works for me is fattening. I'm not into illegal or immoral.:goodvibes
