We do NOT recommend the value resorts!

Too bad you did not enjoy your stay....We have stayed at all the Value resorts and absolutely love them. I would recommend them highly. Pop is my favorite one, but they are all really great. And we have never encountered problems with the staff, mousekeeping was great, we had all kinds of towel animals...never had problems or complains. ......

While I respect everyone's opinion on here, I do have to say that we've stayed at all Value resorts and have had great experiences at all - especially POP!!! :thumbsup2 My family and I all actually agreed that we liked our stay at POP better than our stay at CBR (a moderate).

I am however, looking forward to our stay at POFQ next year, hoping it will be the "best of both worlds"...small size, plus decent value...

Sorry you did not enjoy your stay!

I'm a bit of a snob about hotels, I'll admit it. I travel a lot for work and have to stay in areas that don't have the upper hotel chains. A Comfort Inn or Holiday Inn Express may be the only option and I've learned to stay away from some of the cheaper hotels.

You don't start thinking that way until you're checking out of a hotel at 12:30 at night and looking for a room somewhere else because of the roaches. It really changes your view. By the way, the roaches were not at a Disney resort, just a hard lesson my wife learned about listening to me when I say we should spend the extra money for the Hampton Inn instead of the hotel her family wanted to stay at (AND STAYED FOR THE REST OF THE TRIP EVEN AFTER WE CHECKED OUT BECAUSE OF THE BUGS.....crazy).

I've stayed at a Moderate, but never a Value resort. After staying at a Moderate 7 years ago, and at the Beach Club 6 years ago, we bought into DVC 5 years ago and have stayed at the Boardwalk or Bay Lake Towers on every trip since. DVC was well worth it in my opinion.

People will tell you the Values are fine and they probably are. They are more affordable than a Moderate or Deluxe Resorts. The problem is, Disney is expensive. You may think you're paying 4 or 5 star rates for a Value resort, but you're only going to get a 2 or 3 star resort. You can't compare the value per $ at Disney to other locations. As they say, you get what you pay for, but it's more you get what you pay for when you choose the cheapest option.

We just returned and would highly recommend NOT staying at a value resort! They are bare bones and the customer service was horrible! We stayed at the All Star Movie Resort and while the outside of the hotel was cute (Toy Story characters, 101 Dalmations) the inside was nothing to write home about. The beds were made for the 7 dwarfs (neither my husband nor I could sleep comfortably due to the small size), you had to use your bath towels for the pool, the soap had a horrible smell my 4 year old refused to use it and the people there were rude and inconsiderate. When we complained to management about the noise and naked people running around the grounds we were told they were paying customers! The location is terrible also. Very far away from the parks. We had to take busses everywhere which were jammed with people, hot and often times the wait was longer than 25 minutes (in the hot sun, mind you, with no shade covering us). I tried to save money by staying here but learned my lesson the hard way. There was nothing luxurious about this hotel at all (it actually was like a motel...rooms are on the outside). I would definitely spend the extra money and go elsewhere. You definitely get for what you pay here!

It appears OP didn't do much research on the hotel they selected to stay in.

-The beds at all the values are doubles (which was also provided at an Embassy Suites on a recent Ohio trip I took).

-Each time I've stayed at a value there was a card in my room that indicated I should take room towels to the pool and call housekeeping to receive fresh towels (of course you could call housekeeping before going to the pool too).

-The bath products are provided by H2O. I didn't like the scent of the Crabtree & Evelyn soap and shampoo from my recent trip to St. Pete. Since I always bring own it wasn't an issue and certainly didn't ruin my trip. I would figure a 4 year old would like the H2O provided soaps just because Mickey is on it.

-ASMusic is actually very close to Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom.

-A majority of resorts provide bus only transportation. Only a few resorts offer monorail or boat transportation and that would only transport you to 1 or 2 parks.

-As far as customer service, I have interacted with both "decent" Cast Members" as well as Outstanding CMS. I've never been treated rudely. If you were treated rudely you should certain note that CMs name and feel free to put your complaint into writing to Disney.

- Now naked people I have never seen and can't imagine that a CM would allow/defend/ignore a person with no clothing on.

Sorry you did not enjoy your stay, but the value resorts are just that-- a VALUE resort. They are not meant to be luxurious. They are meant to provide a clean, small room for sleeping and showering and that's about it. Did you actually see "naked" peolpe, or just people in swimsuits? As far as their location from the parks and the outside doors, something as simple as looking at a map and looking at their website would have alerted you to that fact. Values are not for everyone for sure, but MANY people love them. Yes, you do get what you pay for, but that's kind of how life works in general. Just chalk it up as a lesson learned for next time.:thumbsup2

Very well said. Couldn't agree more. OP, good luck with your future Disney trips. I hope you find something you enjoy!

I have a feeling the OP is a "high class" type of person. It's like the couple who complained they could only take one shower at a time because it the water would run cold in Dominican Republic even though they were told that that would be the case.....

I've been to the value resorts 4 times, I believe, on a field trip with my high school chorus. They seemed fine to me. Food court was accessible and the rooms were clean. Seemed like any other hotel to me. I'm sure I'll be thinking differently when we stay at the Poly this Sept. :) Sorry you didn't enjoy your stay, though. That's a bummer.

I really wonder if the OP looked at the hotel info except for the outside part but then the OP didn't see the doors on the outside. Disney says the beds are "full" size - I know what to expect when I went so to me the values are wonderful.

I'm sorry you had such an awful time.

We love the value resorts and have always had such great experiences. The CM always went out of their way to help us with what we needed. One year they even upgraded us to a DVC resort which was the Old Key West and we hated it. The 2 bedroom villa was gorgeous and the housekeeping was great, but the rest of the staff there wasn't so friendly and didn't seem to care about our needs. Most acted as if we were bothering them whenever we had questions or needed something. The food was crappy as well and the transportation was the worst we've ever experienced at DW. I'm not a believer in you get what you pay for. That is NOT true about everything. There are many things I've paid a lot for and was worse than the things I've paid less for.

Our favorite value resort is the All-Star Movies! popcorn::

I am sorry you did not enjoy your hotel, hopefully the next time:thumbsup2. We are usually a deluxe family (because of my TA discount), but this time we are doing a split stay with the POP and Poly. My ds6 and dd13 LOVED it over Christmas and wanted to go back. We compromised with a split stay. POP is definitely not a deluxe (and Disney does not market it as such). It is a cute, clean, affordable option though. The food court has something for everyone, the CMs were very accomodating IMO, buses were quick, and everything is pretty close. The biggest differences are the bed size, room size, and that the rooms are not contained in a building. These are things that Disney does not hide and offers this info easily. I hope you will try another resort again and find just what you are looking for!!:goodvibes

Wow so sorry you had a bad stay! Ive stayed at ASMo twice, ASMu once and POP and my fave or the three was ASMu!

We always enjoyed our value stays..To be honest our problem stays were at CBR and SSR..

WHile moderate and deluxe can be more relaxing, Id stay value again in a heartbeat just to be able to go!

I say try ASMU they also have family suites and the new ARt of Animation will as well..

Out of the three values, we felt the customer service, cleanliness, comfort, theme, and all around feel of the resort was great! We were in broadway which is all the way in the back BUT it was a very quick walk! Less than 5 min from the main building!

I adore Pop. It feels like a second home. I just booked the room today, but they had nothing at Pop. :guilty:

So I got to pick from the All Stars. I picked Movies, as I don't really know anything about the All Stars. Do you guys think Music or Sports is better?

I always told DH that if we one the lottery, I would still stay at Pop. I'm sorta sad, but at least I'm going, right?

Pop has been excellent in every single way. Great CMs, very good food, mousekeeping. I cannot say anything bad about Pop.

Movies is very big hit with the kids
Sports usually geets the big groups if they are around
Music has the family suites so to me it seems the older kids & famlies that need more room - I know a couple of older couples that like this one if they stay value
basicly they are same but with different themeing

FYI - calling right now to cancel one of our groups rooms for sept 24 to oct 1 - not sure if those r ur travel dates

I feel bad about your experience!

I want to chime in just to help people with reservations to All Stars not to freak out! We stayed at All Stars a couple of times, the last being last month for 4 nights at Sports.
Yes, you get what you pay for, but keep in mind that you pay more at WDW! I actually had issues with the other guests on both sides of our room on this last trip (tour group). I gave the kids time to settle down since everyone is on a vacation and I didn't call the front desk to send security up to quiet them down until 2am when I realized they weren't settling down. When I placed the call to the operator they addressed me by name and couldn't have been nicer. Security came up shortly to talk to the other guests, and they quieted down so I could get to sleep. The next morning I went to the front desk and inquired about a room change, and again the CMs were very nice. They were able to tell me that the rooms next to me were checking out. I was happy about the CMs cheerful willingness to help me.
Through the many resorts we have stayed at through the years, the true test is how the CMs handle complaints. I have always been respectful, courteous and friendly when addressing my complaints and have ALWAYS had them resolved to my satisfaction (not by receiving freebees btw). There are issues from time to time, but resolved quickly.
I travel for business as well, and you can't really compare WDW to the real world IMO. I find that the nicer hotel chains are far superior to the deluxe resorts as far as room comfort and club level. That is one of the reasons I can't justify deluxe stays often. Even when we have stayed deluxe, i have lowered my expectaions as such. However it is the undefinable Disney feel that makes each stay special regardless of which category or resort we choose!
