We brought the stroller, but we didn't use it!

Just got back from our 9/28-10/4 trip. We had a great time! My DS6 is a tiny thing, and tires easily when he has to do alot of walking, so he INSISTED that he needed a stroller. Since we no longer own one of our own, I borrowed an umbrella stroller from a friend. It didn't have a basket, or a bag, so we really couldn't use it to hold our "stuff". After day one of hunting for the stroller after every ride, we decided it would be easier to go without it.

So, my dh wore a backpack, I had my Vera Bradley backpack, the boys both had a fanny pack, and guess what??? WE SURVIVED without a stroller! Yahoo!!

It was so much easier without one, and when he was tired, we slowed it down. In fact, we took alot more time to stop and smell the roses this trip.

Just wanted to share our experience for those of you on the fence about using one!

Very cool. I too look forward to the day when we can go "stroller-less". Thanks for sharing. :flower:

Don't you LOVE going without the stroller. We had the best trip when our twins were 5 and we forgot the strollers in the garage. I was so worried when we got to the airport and realized that we had forgotten them. It was so nice not having to locate the strollers. The boys really liked keeping up with their sister and being able to walk up and see things.

We were at WDW in March with my niece and her 3 yr old DD. The first few days (I can't remember if it was 3 or 4 days), she didn't have a stroller and did great being in the parks from about 10 am to 8 pm or so. (we can't get going early because my youngest DD, who is disabled is a bear to get up in the morning and she has to be totally assisted with everything - so it takes us a while to get going).
The end of the 3rd or 4th day, the 3 year old was still being good, but said that her legs were "all out of walk." She did get a stroller after that. The amount of time you save having a stroller is pretty much equal to the amount of extra time the stroller takes (finding a spot to park it, getting child in and out, finding the stroller again after the ride is over).

My (then) 2 1/2 year DS absolutely refused to ride in the stroller in August. We took it just in case, but he wanted to walk. So we made him push it (DH or I would actually kept a hand on it to make sure it stayed on coruse without hitting anyone). He had a blast helping out!

Since getting home, he won't sit in it either, so we leave it at home. Although MIL insists on trying to get him to sit in it when he goes places with her. Let her fight him, just not worth it for me...and saves time getting in and out of the car!
