We braved the 4th!!! AND the rain...and the crowds??? 7/1-7/8 BOOKED NEXT TRIP!!!!

Last time we were on Soarin (almost 2 years ago) people were still clapping? I'm gonna bring it back on our upcoming trip!!

That tour looks really neat!! I just LOVE the Land and all they do there.

Can't wait till your next post...I can't believe how EMPTY it looks!!!

Yes! You have to start the clapping! A few people clapped on this ride but I'm pretty sure I started it!

NikkiLovesWDW ~ I am really enjoying reading your trip report. I have never read one before and for some reason stumbled across your's - I think I was on the Big Brother thread and saw one of your posts. Your pictures at the bottom caught my eye (love the castle one) and I clicked on the link for your trip report. Now I'm hooked. I'm looking forward to an update soon. :thumbsup2

Oh I'm so glad you are reading my TR!! I feel so special that it's your first TR! I hope I can keep you interested!

Lol I love clapping on attractions too! :goodvibes

When Verity & I saw 'Princess & the Frog' at Downtown Disney cinema, everyone clapped at the end of the movie... I thought that was soo nice.

Then last week.. when I saw Toy Story 3 over here - I was ready to clap at the end.. no one else did, they just got out their seats and left  lol

I really like the look of the Behind the Seeds tour - will have to try it one trip!

We almost always experience clapping at the end of Hall of Presidents and the American Adventure show. I get goosebumps everytime :thumbsup2

Oh the theater I was in clapped like crazy at the end of TS3!!! I think I cried even more just because of all the clapping!

Oh me too!! AA is my fav!

We had clapping in our TS3 movie also! :thumbsup2 I agree....you should always clap on certain rides such as Soarin and Hall of Presidents. I guess there are some people out there that just really don't get whole magic behind the magic thing. :confused3

I love going on a trip and coming back to the boards to see my ticker that much closer to my trip but wow, it takes awhile to catch up! I absolutely ADORE your 4th outfit!!! Love the updates and the pictures and now I want to go on the Behind the Seeds tour!!

Congrats on the Food & Wine festival trip!!!! That is a great time to go!

Swalphin....

Has anyone ever stayed there before? I have always poo-pooed the swalphin! It's not really disney! It's ugly, blah blah. But in thinking about this potential Food and Wine trip in 2011, I would LOVE to stay at an Epcot resort. Of course, if I had all the money in the world, I'd pick Beach Club or Boardwalk but with the teacher discount, I could stay at the Swalphin for less than HALF what the other two would costs. I just can't see paying that much when another option is so much cheaper!

SO, has anyone ever stayed at either the Swan or the Dolphin. Which do you prefer and why? Which is closer walking distance to IG? (Are they both kind of far because they are on the total other side of Crescent Lake?) Tell me everything I need to know about them!

I stayed at the Dolphin a few months ago for a business trip and an extra weekend tacked on :) I honestly would prefer to stay at a 'Disney' resort but if I had another conference there and work was paying, I'd stay at the Dolphin. It is a nice hotel but doesn't have that Disney feel. It is super close to HS (quick boat ride) and fairly close to Epcot (just shy of a half mile) and that walk is fine for someone who walks a lot. I did not like the quick restaurant or the burger restaurant but BlueZoo was good. The room I got was not refurbished and the bathrooms are teeny. I thought the service was ok but I really am biased because I actually like being immersed in the Disney theming - EVERYWHERE. So that's my honest opinion. It was good and I would stay there again but I would look at a Disney resort first.

Ok, remember a TR or two ago when you cut your hair and then I cut my hair??? Well, I figured out Photobucket!!! BUT I deleted the picture I took when I first cut it (on 10/31/09) and hope to never think about that short hair again (it was right at my ears). Since you asked for a photo of the hair cut and I've finally figured out how to post pics - here is a pic from Disney April 2008, Disney April 2009, and just a photo I took recently in April 2010. So the hair is growing back but not to the length I like it. My hairdresser is now only allowed to "trim" my hair every 6 months!

Hope this works....

So glad there are other clappers!

We had tons of clapping after TS3 too! It makes me all teary eyed!

I just love when a whole group of people are cheering for the same thing!

So glad you've caught up!!

Thank you soooo much for the advice on Swan/Dolphin. After hearing from everyone, I think I'm just like you. I would most likely be disappointed that it's not actual disney!

So funny you remembered about my hair! I LOVE your hair at the length it is now! I really like it curly too. A lot of people say they like it shorter but whenever I see people with long braids, I get so jealous! Mine is getting longer now, you can see in the AK pictures!

It would be even longer but I made the mistake of getting my first trim since the big cut at Supercuts and they totally screwed it up! I had to go to another place to get it fixed and she had to cut off even more to fix it!

And another thing about Soarin'!!! :rotfl: (Sorry, once I get going....)

When did people stop clapping at the end?? Remember when it was new and there was a thunderous applause when it ended, and even when you first soar over Disneyland?

I am a HUGE fan of the applause. I clap when we're about to drop on TOT, I clap when the airplane lands (seriously, all pilots should be sainted when they die), I even clap in my living room when I'm watching TV sometimes!

I still try to get the applause going when Soarin' ends but not too many people join in anymore... What's up with that?!

I am SO glad that you clap too!!! I really feel like I'm the ONLY one these days... what a shame! :sad2:

Still love this TR. I kept reading about how the crowds were a bit "light".:confused3 Can't wait to see and read more.

So you notice it to?! So glad you keep the clap going! I'm not afraid to get it started!

Thanks! Glad you're still reading!

Yes crowds have been quite light so far.....will they stay that?!?!

Great update!! :) Epcot is my favorite park so I love seeing pics of it! The Behind the Seeds tour looks like fun, I love Living with the Land so that is something I should do someday! :cool1:

I know what you mean about Soarin FP's, Soarin always takes forever. :confused3 I think it's worth it though, it's such a great ride! I can't stand it when people talk through that ride, I've heard some people make comments but nothing that has totally ruined it for me yet!

And yes, I clap too! I clap when planes land, I clapped the other day listening to my new Disney World CD, and when I get on and off rides! I'm a huge dork, I can't help it, I get excited over little things! :rotfl:

I've been interested in renting DVC points, but like you, I don't understand it at all! It sounds like a great idea, but I don't know how you find someone you can trust! :confused3

Well I'm finally all caught up and I'm just loving your report so far! I can't believe all of that rain! :scared1: And the crowds! (or should I say the lack of crowds?!) Seriously, where was everyone? :confused3

The Behind the Seeds tour looks really neat. I just love the living with the land ride - no matter how many times I ride it I'm always amazed. I think I would really enjoy that tour. :thumbsup2

Very much enjpying your review.

Sue

Thanks! I'm so glad!

Epcot is my favorite park too! You will really enjoy the rest of this day AND the last two days, then!

I am really interested in finding out more about renting points. It sounds almost too good to be true! I feel like if this works, I'll want to do it every time!

Crazy!! Lack of crowds so far was astonishing! And the rain was a shocker too. I really love that ride too, so doing the tour just seemed like a perfect thing to do!

I am all caught up! Great TR of course...since I have so many pages to comment on...

Love your outfits (it was good to see them on you for your occasions!)

I think the rain certainly helped clear the parks...I was there for Fay and it was like we were the only people in the parks! I am with you. I am not spending our money to sit in our room.

Glad the fireworks cruise was a success and that you July ladies (and families) had fun!

Epcot DVCs are rumored to fill at the 11 month home resort window. The point price is established by the owner. It is possible that the price could be higher for certain times like F&W. It still would make the price reasonable. If I was renting from someone on the boards, I would rent from someone with a fair amount of posts. The DVC rules are against renting points - but Disney looks the other way.

So I'm currently at the point in your TR where Tom hates the font on the Stop sign. I too hate the font. It's too proper and old fashiony....I just can't take it seriously somehow. Like if it was a regular Stop sign and you didn't stop, I would feel like something bad might happen but not with this sign. Haha, I'm strange.

I know what you mean about the clapping, I thought that people would have clapped in our cinema after TS3 but they didn't. I guess there are only a few of us true fans left.

Thanks for the comments! Glad you feel the same way about not letting a little rain (or hurricane) keep you in!

Thanks for the DVC info. I'm going to try reeeally hard to find someone who has BCV as their home resort because I don't think I'd be able to get it at 7 months out.

Haha, that's exactly how Tom felt!!

Oh did you like the movie? Glad you were finally able to see it!!

Just joining in...followed you here from Christy's (PopArtGal) report. I think I read your honeymoon report...but cannot recall if I ever commented! Anyway, hi! :goodvibes

I can't believe the lack-o-crowds! That's INCREDIBLE! Was it pure luck, or did you subscribe to TGM or UG for avoiding the crowds? Sorry about the rain - ugh.

You and Tom have oodles of cute pictures together! I like your 4th of July super festive and Mickey adorned outfit, and he's festive as well in his red/white/blue Captain America shirt.
