We had to cancel last year due to a work problem, but I have booked for January and informed my boss that I am going. We are staying at the Comfort Suites Maingate East from January 5-19th for $49.50 per night. I couldn't resist the rate and we are staying a few extra days.

That's exciting!!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

You'll be there over the marathon weekend. There is a group of people from the WISH board who are doing the half marathon.

Maybe you can catch up with us and be there to cheer us on.

Have a great vacation.

Hi nepean!

Can you let us know how you find the hotel? I am HOPING to stay there in May, actually I already have the reservations made, so I would be very interested in knowing how you find the hotel. Are you renting a car or will you be using the shuttles?

Hi RC Fan

We are driving down in January from Ottawa and will therefore have our own car. We have driven 12 times and prefer it over flying. I haven't stayed in this hotel before but have stayed int he adjacent Quality Suites and Days Suites. It appears that they are all owned by the same company. The review of this Comfort Suites on tripadvisor.com are excellent. We just received a rate of $49.50 per night with free high speed internet, free breakfast
(which I assume is similar to the one at Quality Suites and suited us fine). We can't wait to go.

I certainly hope you have a great trip!

One more question, if that is OK? How were both the other places you mentioned?

Hi

We have stayed at the Quality Suites 4 times but the last time in 2002 the rooms were not as clean as they should have been. They were becoming a little worn. I understand that they have been renovating. The pool is terrific. It is really nice and warm in January.

We have stayed at the Days Suites twice. The first time was many years ago and the last time was in 1998. The apartments are huge but they are dated. The buildings were probably built in the early 60's. The swimming pools were also not well heated. I would stay there if I was in a pinch but not otherwise.

All three hotels are located within walking distance of Old Town and there are many restaurants nearby and a Publix grocery store just across the main street. The location is very very convenient. The drive to Disney is only about 10 minutes and you are right near I-4 to go to Universal.

Have fun planning. We are hoping for a Cdn. at par deal with Universal. We haven't been in 5 years and it will be a nice change. We have 2 days left on previous Disney passes and might only buy a one day ticket.

nepean,

I just read this post, and thought I'd add my bit in too. You didn't mention how many of you were going, but if you check the Universal website, you can get 5 day / 2 park passes for cheaper than a 2 day pass. And if there are 5 of you, and you use your MasterCard, you buy four tickets, and get the 5th free. We have done this before, and it works out to be about $75 each for 5 days at both parks. I can't remember if they expire or not, but you can check into it. And from reading things on Mousesavers.com, I stayed on site (Royal Pacific being the cheapest), and I wouldn't do Universal any other way! You use your room key as a pass to a seperate door to all rides, NO LINES!! We found a discount through Mousesavers, and got our room for 50%, and they let all 5 of us stay in one room, which I'm afraid Disney won't do. The resort is wonderful, and even if you don't use all 5 days, you are still ahead financially. Hope this helps. P.S. We will be down there end of December, hope the weather is good, never been down there that time of year.
