We booked a category for our 3 night cruise that we knew would be okay (11), but...

All of the posts about upgrades (How can I get an upgrade? How did you get an upgrade? Did you get an upgrade?) drive me CRAZY!!! I booked a category 11 for our 3 night December cruise because that was what we could afford and it is "only 3 nights," so I'm sure it will be okay.

That said...

I can't believe that I'm going to post one of those posts that I admit drive me crazy! I apologize in advance.

We booked through DU. We have a cabin assignment (7563). We didn't "ask for" a specific cabin. Just a category 11.

It seems that those of you who receive/have received upgrades as a nice surprise have booked category 11 on GTY status and don't have a specific room assignment.

My question is: Are there ever surprise upgrades for people who do have a room assignment?

in a word....yes!!! But again....upgrades are such a random thing. There are many people who are on GTY status and don't get an upgrade as well. It is a hit or miss thing. Good luck, though!!!

Yes. On our last cruise, we had an assigned room and received an upgrade.

At least you have the right attitude. You're happy w/ the 11, but anything additional is pixie dust.
