So excited to become US AP holders. Since we became Florida residents last year we have been Disney Annual Pass holders. Those passes are about to expire and we decided not to renew them and get Universal passes for this year instead. Our decision to ditch Disney had nothing to do with the new FP+ as we've had nothing but wonderful success with those but we've been so many times in the last year we decided to shake things up. We haven't been to US/IOA since 2011 and our son is now a teenager so it seemed like the perfect time to come back to the Darkside :) What's new in the last 3 years that we shouldn't miss?

Congratulations!!!!

I'm assuming you ave you seen the Wizarding World since that was 2010. Then there is Despicable Me, Transformers, the two mini putt courses, lots of new restaurants, the new Simpsons expansion and the entire new Diagon Alley slated to open late spring. Great time for APs!!!

We did the same thing after 3 years of being WDW AP holders. It had nothing to do with FP+, but more to do with cost. My kids are close to being teenagers, and they prefer Universal.

We are in the same boat! We have been in FL for about 4 years and our 2nd set of Disney APs just expired. We actually got a little burned out on Disney and decided to give Universal a try! I'm a little concerned that with 1/2 the parks to pick from, the novelty might wear off more quickly, but Universal is a little closer for us and it's so much more "accessible" than Disney...so we're looking forward to it!

We haven't been in about 2 years and we're going back for a few days next week, so I'm looking forward to it! DD is finally tall enough to ride the "big" coasters, and there are some new rides that opened since we've been, so it should be fun.

Enjoy the "dark side"! :thumbsup2

OP - congrats!

Encouraging to read you are positive re the FP+ system though. We've only used once in January but nothing but issues (ridiculously long return lines that we wound up ditching).
