Whew....we just got back from our wonderful trip to Disney. We were on the free dining plan...and boy did we get a lot of food! I made our ADRs a few months ago and boy am I glad that I did..all the restaurants I chose were packed...so I knew I had made good choices!
There are 3 of us in my family..me, DH and DD (who is 5 but seems to enjoy the finer foods in life..as in she was not going to sit by and eat just off the kids menu
)
Here are the restaurants where we feasted: Liberty Tree Tavern and Boma for dinner, Sci Fi Cafe and Le Cellier for lunch and Boatwrights and 1900 Park Fare for breakfast.
Liberty Tree Tavern was wonderful! The food was great! Now i'm a huge Thanksgiving fan, so I really did enjoy this meal. My DH and DD loved it too. The character interaction was great too. They came around to our table at least twice. The service was great too. I never had to ask for anything. So I give this restaurant a big
.
Boma was wondeful too! I'm not a big adventerous food person, but I did go out on a limb here and try a lot of the food. The prime rib was out of this world! I also really enjoyed the salmon they made as well as the peanut rice! YUM! They have a part of the buffet specifically for kids, so that's nice for the nonadventerous. The desserts were yummy too..especially the zebra domes. At this restaurant my DH and I tried the wine flight (no on the DP i'm afraid, but very reasonable). I had the red wine and my DH had the white. I personally thought my wine was better...but I do prefer red over white wine. The service at Boma was great too! There was only 1 downside to Boma...the noise factor! Wow was it loud! (of course I noticed that to be a theme at most of the restaurants).
Sci Fi was great! Now I was a little nervous with some of the reviews that were on here, but I really enjoyed my meal. My DH did too. My DH and I both ordered the salad for an app..it had some type of blue cheese vinagrette dressing that was great. I got the hamburger and it was yummy and my DH got the chicken sandwich. Now I tried his meal..and I have to say it was just ok..kind of a little dry..buy my hamburger was sooo good! My DD got the chicken fingers I believe. Nothing unusual about those. We all got milkshakes for dessert! Those were so good! The service was great too! So I give Sci Fi a big
Le Cellier was ok. Now I know it's been talked up here on the boards, so I tried my best to go in with an open mind. For apps my entire fam got the cheese soup. Now that was good! I could have just had that for lunch. I tried their steak sandwich that had arugula and fennel with a tomato base served with a tomato and cucumber salad. It was good..not great, but not bad at all. My DH tried the french dip. It was so, so. Not bad by any means, just not anything great. My DD got the hotdog, which was served with corn and fruit. Not too shabby for her tastes. For dessert she got the Chocolate "Moose"..that was the cutest thing I had ever seen. My DH and I got the creme brule (?spelling). It was good. Now the service at this restaurant was just ok. The waitress was super busy so she didn't have much time to come by and check on us. Also, the food comes out slower here. It didn't bother us too much, but if you were thinking of eating in a hurry this is not your place.
Now the breakfast places. We ate breakfast at Boatwrights. Man oh man was it good. I got the sweet potatoe pancackes and they were so good. I wish I could have eaten them all..but alas a stomach ache was not on the list of things to do for the day. My DH got the banana stuffed french toast. It was quite good..and very sweet! My DD got the mickey pancakes. The chef did a very cute job with the pancakes. Kind of hard to explain, but he made a face on the pancake with candy and then took the bacon and placed it over one of the eye so it looked like it was a pirate. My DD really enjoyed it! The service was great and fast so we were able to eat a nice meal and still make it to the park early! I give Boatwrights a
.
My last meal was at 1900 Park Fare. Now of all the meals I have to say this was my least favorite. The food was ok, just your standard breakfast buffet fare. The character interaction was ok. The place is quite large and it took the characters along time to come around. We actually finished eating and waited an additional 20 mins just to see the characters, some for the first time. The only plus was we were able to see Mary Poppins outside of the restaurant while we waited for our table. The service was ok here as they were quite busy and the waitress had a lot of tables.
All in all we really enjoyed ourselves and the food! We tried several different CS and the one we liked the most was Columbia Harbor House. We ate their twice! The food was good and you could easily find a table upstairs! (another hint I got here on the disboards).
At the CS restaurants my DH and I would get two adult meals and split it with my DD. There was more than enough food for all 3 of us and this allowed her to eat something other than hotdogs and chicken nuggets.
Well..guess that's it! I'll be glad to answer any questions that you have about the places I ate or any DP questions.
