We are still in vmk because...

Debsangels and I had a humorous discussion of why we as adults are still playing VMK after all this time. Here are some of the reasons I came up with. Feel free to add your own!

could be that we are all greedy for our virtual stuff

could be that we are hoping to catch that friend that we haven't seen for a while and have a fun time

could be that we are vocabulary challenged and an environment like vmk makes us feel better about ourselves

could be that we really wish we looked as sexy as our vmk avatars

could be that we are still holding out for magic carpet magic

could be that we hope to hook up with someone on a kids' site where the adults we find are really big kids just like us

could be that we have a peter pan complex and refuse to grow up

could be that we are shut ins who live on doritos, diet rite, and who believe in the power of fairies

could be that we are lonely souls adrift in a world that is too far away from the real parks.

could be that the dark rides in vmk are really hypnotizing sessions meant keep us coming back for more

could be that we secretly like to play dress up and in the real world there aren't enough masquerade balls

could be that we are all holding out for the adults only version of vmk

could be that the minuscule chance that we will get inferno magic makes us come back for more

could be that we are still trying to figure out whether goofy is a dog like pluto or why ducks don't have to wear pants

could be we are still waiting to see the restoration of Horace Horsecollar, Clarabelle Cow, and Clara Cluck to their rightful places in the Disney canon

could be we are still looking for an answer to whether the "nephews" both mice and duck are really illegitimate children of mickey/minnie and donald/daisy

could be we just love collecting pins, real or not because they make us feel good about ourselves and because we like playing with danger with those sharp pins

could be we were banned from the real park and have no other disney park to go to

could be we can't afford the real thing, so we will take any substitute

could be we really really like to say avast and arg without being ridiculed

could be we (girls) are secretly hoping that they will release another color of princess dress in the next few months

could be that we started playing for our kids (who have since become bored and left vmk) and got hooked ourselves

could be we love helping people so much that our secret dream is to have a job in real life as a community leader

could be that we just want to be "taken"

could be that we are too afraid of gangs in real life, but want somewhere to belong so we join one in vmk

could be we really like riding the alice in wonderland and peter pan rides. who cares about some stinking pin that you have to pull out a sword for!?

could be we like flaunting our virtual wealth by wearing rare costumes and magic pins with all five stars

could be that we wish fireworks would go off over our heads and that we could turn into a bat in real life

could be that we hope yavn will be our friend too

could be that we (girls) think yavn is really lava or that we (guys) heart that Host Hula!

and credits for pins are easier to earn than money for pins.

I play for many of those reasons and thought of a few more.

1. VMK is where I do my best dance moves.
2. I love driving that pirate ship, and my neighborhood association won't let me park one in my driveway.
3. My teleporter in real is too big to sneak into Magic Kingdom.
4. It's a place I don't have to diet to fit in my superhero suit.

Another thing that keeps me playing is that it helps to fulfill my buying and collecting habits without spending real money and filling my house with junk!

And of course, the friends I've made along the way.

Love the list! Here's my add:

could be because I love Shopping! Where else can I buy so much extra furniture and clothes, just because it comes in other colors. And can just get a bit more to spend just by playing more games.

could be because where else can I decorate a room by a theme, even to the point of being cheesy and overdone, and then change it again the next month to a whole new theme. Or even leave it and enjoy my halloween decorations in, say, April!

Okay, I was on the road to work today (where I do my best thinking... besides the shower), and thought of a few more:

Could be because we've seen Field of Dreams too many times and believe that "if you build it, they will come" - people to your room that is.

Could be because we are all trying to figure out how to make a new holiday shape out of crates (pumpkins, trees, clovers, hearts... starting to sound like lucky charms here) for the next holiday, thinking that we can win best room by beating out all the other people that make holiday shapes out of crates.

Could be that our computer glitched and we are still number 563 in line for a host game that ended months ago, but we are still waiting patiently.

Could be that we never get tired of Nedding. After all, it is the lazy person's way to earn credits.

Could be that we like "Sitting at the dock of the bay wasting time" - the Jungle Cruise Dock that is.

Could be that we feel special for having invented VMK fads like tree climbing and taking supertall tree pictures (this one is making fun of me, lol... yes, it's sad but true)

Could be we are waiting for the next vmk dreams month when all our friends come back into the game to play again.

Could be we just want to have something to post on the DISboards, so we keep looking for stories in vmk.

Could be we like to laugh at the titles of those who lack the creativity or patience (and a lot of patience is needed these days) to come up with their own titles (I like to call them Triple Namers myself)... It's always interesting what ridiculous names vmk generates!

Could be we just really like to face paint people in vmk.

Could be that like in real life, we only have one dance move, but in vmk, all the other people only have one dance move too! Makes us feel much better, it does.

Could be that we are just waiting for that next glitch so we can be the first to post it on the DISboards. (I'm really sad that I didn't get a screen shot of the naked glitch... sigh)
