Teenage boys + a resort full of teenage girls practicing in their uniforms = a very interesting vacation

How sad about your Godmother. My grandpa (80+) moved in with some family and they took EVERYTHING he had (life insurance cashed out, took his TV, took his Tractor, maxed out his credit cards, they convinced him to pay cash for a brand new 40 foot RV and they convinced him to put it in their name, the wife was charging $20/hour to do his laundry and did laundry about 25 hours a month, etc). When he ran out of money they kicked him out and put him in a nursing home. We went to the state police but unfortunately when he moved in with them he gave them power of attorney and there isn't anything my Dad can do about it. I hate it when people take advantage of elderly people. It's just cruel.

Your trip plan sounds great Connie! Can't wait to hear more about your plans. Good luck on the move next week!

It really is sad when people take advantage of family; who probably helped them out their entire life from the get go. My aunt was an RN and worked at Charity Hosp her entire career so she has an excellant retirement. My mom has power of attorney so we are trying to convince her that once my DGM is settled in to her new home that she takes the forged checks to the parish police and/or D.A. I had wanted to call before they cleaned the house so social services could charge child and ederly neglet and abuse...but, what do I know!
I do know that my mom and I will be her new caregivers; I am taking her to her new doctor tomorrow and for a physical.

Less then 2 months to go!!:cool1:
I love all the clothes. Are your shirts thick? I want to get some Disney gear from May but I don't want to die in the mid day heat in those thick disney store shirts.
This should be interesting, Dayne and a resort full of cheerleaders.:sad2:
How terrible about your godmother. It's terrible when family steals from family. I hope everything works out.

Connie and Leanne
Those stories make me so sad and angry. It is even worse that it is FAMILY and not "hired" people.
COnnie Hope your plans work out. Oh boy-guys and cheerleaders.

Barbara, the hoodies I think would be too thick for May at Disney, I'm hoping it will be OK for April. But, will probably be cutting it close...yeah, I just told Dayne about the :cheer2: and he was smiles ear to ear...

Mary what makes it worse it that they had they nerve to call and ask my mom if they could have her kitchen table...my dad said yeah for $150K:mad:
they don't get it! and I can't but feel sorry for the children...my aunt (their grandmother) is suppose to have them at the moment...but, than what! My DGM does not want them to get into trouble but how do they learn:confused3

I asked Dayne if I needed Monkey backpacks to put on him and Todd around the resort to keep them in line:rotfl: (Dayne's a quiet kid...but, with an awesome blushing smile  )....

It is their first year. They are really excited. I hope they love it too. I'd love for them to find a sport they really enjoy. Thanks for asking. If you have any tips please pass them along. Things have changed A LOT since I played as a kid. :goodvibes
I played softball as a kid too and played for a college team. A lot of teenagers who have been playing volunteer to help new players. There is usually enough older girls who need service hours that your girls could each have their own one on one help for free.

My bad...I totally forgot about you mentioning the situation with your grandmother!

It makes me so sad when someone takes advantage of someone else like that no matter how old they are. I hope everything gets worked out with the new home. It's so sad, however, that it took so long to get to this point.

Connie, I am so sorry to hear about your GM. I think the laws should be MUCH more harsh for elder abuse and neglect. I do believe in karma though, so what goes around comes around. Ya'll don't have to have your aunt's permission to press charges if the fraud can be proven. In Alabama the State can press charges.

WOW, boys and cheerleaders :scared1:.

Well, let's start some planning and than I need to start my packing list:
I think I am going to steal Megan and Bryan's idea of leaving around midnight need to talk to Danny about that one (but, I like it)...
Anyway, hit the road this year I do not want to stop an entire 40 min into the ride in Gulfport (I will be sure that Danny and Dayne have their wallets first), I would like the first stop to be the first rest stop in FL...but, if we leave closer to midnight it will not be open and Ashton should still be sleeping so we will need to see...Danny really likes that idea too!

here are a few of our pix from last year as we plan...(not as good as Lisa with road pix...sorry)

So, here we go!
Saturday April 24, 2010 between 12:00 am and 2:00 am we hit the road FL bound! :mickeyjum
five hours into the ride (should be around Chipley) we will stop to stretch and find food
if I can get everyone on the road on time (it is hard to motivate Joe & Gwendolyn), we
should arrive at the POP around 1:00 pm...
hopefully our rooms will be ready,
upon arrival Joe will need to visit SoG to purchase our tickets,
our plan for today will be to hang out at the pool
and DTD...I think I am going to try and plan a ressie for T-Rex; I think Ashton will love it...

be back later...need to get dressed to bring my aunt to the doctor!:wave2:

I remember back when Hunter was little (just 1 on our first trip), we would leave really early in the morning and would only drive to just past Tallahassee. Then, we'd get up and drive the rest of the way the next day. I so love it now that Hunter is bigger and we can drive for a much longer period of time!

Cute road trip pictures!

I wish we could leave earlier, but with waiting for my Dad to get off from work (he does not get off until 2:00 a.m. home around 3:00 a.m.), I think the earliest I will get my family on the move will be 4:00 a.m. My Dad will sleep most of the first day of driving. :thumbsup2 Here's a wish for both us that the kiddos travel well!! :wizard:

Can't wait to hear about your driving experiences!! As of right now we are leaning towards driving. (not 100% sure yet though) We have a much longer drive of around 24 hours with stops! I wish I was as close as you are to Disney!

Your plans look good!!! How exciting to be getting close!!!

I really think we are going to push all the way through without stopping; for us it is the ride home that is hard...I guess because we are so excited to be going and not all that happy to be coming home

pixiedust: for easy children travels...
last year Ashton did well we brought his DVD player and cars (I had other toys but that is what he played with mostley), we stopped a few times more than normal (I wanted him to be able to stretch and all though his diaper was not bad each time I did not want him sitting a long time in a damp diaper)...I hope this time will be just as easy...since I have had him I need to stop alot more than I did when I was younger (maybe I need the diaper this go round...:rotfl:

for us the drive is only shy of 10 hr with no stops; so hoping it only takes 10-10.5 hrs this year we were knocking on 12 hrs last year...I think if you pack a busy box for the kids they should do fine going; its coming home that may be the problem or maybe they will sleep a great deal of the ride...I plan to buy Ashton his Leapster for Easter (was going to be a bday) so he will have that for the ride.
:wave2:

Quick question:
I have decided to add T-rex to the mix so now I am down to one character breakfast. Which one?!?:confused3
I currently have ressies for
Crystal Palace on Sunday
Donald's Safari on Monday (I think--need to check my book)
and
Ohana's on Wednesday

if you had to choose one; which one would it be...
this is for Ashton! so, I was thinking he would prefer Donald's safari (but, after reading Nicki's interaction report with the characters, I just don't know), I know Winnie the Pooh and friends are not his absolute favs...maybe I should just see if I can book Chef Mickey and cancel the others...I think he would like to see Stitch but I was trying to cover more characters...
HELP!:scared1:

You will either love leaving that early or absolutely hate it. I can't sleep in the car, so I am a bit tired when we get there. However, there is zero traffic on the road when you drive. We got to Tallhassee in about 7 hours because of the lack of traffic. Cooper travelled the best leaving at that time. He slept the whole way!

If I were to cancel on of the three you listed, I'd cancel CP. DSB is so great and so is Ohana. If he's not really into Pooh & friends, then he'd get the least from the meal.

My vote would be definitely keep TH--the reviews are consistently good!! (which Nicki are you meaning?) We have no interest in Y&Y this go around, so it really is our only TS option in AK. Just my opinion :)

I vote for Tusker House Connie! I haven't eaten there but like Stephanie said, I've read fairly consistent positive reviews. I have all three of these breakfasts planned for our upcoming trip. I hope the girls enjoy them as much as I think they will.

Hope you're having a good weekend! :goodvibes

My vote would be for TH! We had great interaction there and the food was so yummy! :thumbsup2

Also, your comments about the boys and the cheerleaders had me cracking up! :rotfl:
