We are new to DVC and am not sure what resort we want to stay at first.

We will be going May 14 to May 21, 2015. We have two daughters, 21 and 12. Of course the oldest does not know if she will be able to go do to dates not being set for her mission trip. We are planning to go to the parks for three or four days and enjoy our resort the rest of the time. Would love to hear what resort you like and what you do for down time.

As an owner you will stay at all of the DVC resorts several times before you settle on your favorites so just pick a resort and do it.

Most resorts have activity centers, there are DVD's available to check out, you can BBQ a meal, spend time at the pool and you can pool hop.

My favorite resort is the WL, so I'd pick the VWL. The entire resort is so breathtaking and the boats to MK or CR/FW are awesome.

A close 2nd would be BLT. Being able to walk to the MK and being on the monorail is incredible. I like the views and the pool there as well.

My 3rd would be the BWV's. I love the EP location and the Boardwalk itself.

I would pay attention to any major resort or pool rehabs that could affect your stay.

The best part of DVC is getting to enjoy all the resorts and come up with your favorites.

Have fun!

I would recommend staying at your home resort for your first DVC trip. It's a good opportunity to "bond" with your home resort, making some wonderful DVC memories, at the resort where you could very well end up staying a lot. Hopefully you bought at a resort that you think you will like a lot. :)

If this is a first DW visit and you expect to spend all day at the parks it really doesn't matter where you stay. If you already know that you expect to have some resort time then I would suggest the BCV. Your youngest daughter will most likely appreciate Stormalong Bay pool and your older daughter and yourself will probably enjoy going to the Boardwalk. Also the resort is literally outside the gate at EPCOT and either a healthy walk or leisure boat ride to Hollywood Studios. But as other have and will say each has its own charm. There is something to be said for checking out the home that you bought, presuming you bought one of the WDW resorts.

We love the Epcot resorts the best, so I'd agree if you can get Beach Club (or Boardwalk). We absolutely love that you can walk so many places from there!

You're going at a great time - we're still in school until early June!

We've stayed at OKW, SSR, BCV (we own there), AKL-Kidani & WL. Each one had its merits & I've loved them all. I was the most relaxed at AKL-Kidani as I loved the savannah view. My kids love BCV for the pool. Honestly? I think if you were planning on spending serious down-time outside of the parks, I'd say one of the Epcot resorts simply because there are so many different things to do within walking distance.

Good luck choosing! Enjoy.

Our first DVC visit is in January, just DH and I. We couldn't decide either. So chose a split stay. 3 nights at AKL, 3 nights at BCV, 5 nights at VWL. None of them is our home resort, SSR. We'll get there soon enough. We wanted to explore resorts we think we'd like to visit with our grandkids, if we have a choice at 7 months.
