We are here-- BWV, AKV, then Vero!-- PICS added

First welcome home and to the DVC family. Our home resort is SSR and most of the time stay at BWV. Love that you can walk to Epcot and HS. We go twice a year and always avoid EMH. That is during Sept. and Jan. Other parks seem less crowded. Hope you have a great time!!!!! I see from one of your trip countdown we will be down in Jan 2010 at the same time. Jan trip will be just my husband and me, no kids. We are staying at AKV value studios. I have stayed there twice before we became DVC members. If we like the DVC section then we may stay there duing our Sept 2010 trip with the kids and get the SV.

I am jealous you get to do Sept and Jan. We are limited because I teach. We will be doing January this year... have not told my principal yet-- but I rarely take off school-- so hope it will work out :)

We really loved AKV... in fact we have had many conversations about which we like better AKV or BWV--- but what is nice we can stay at both! In January we will be at BWV. I am looking forward to a cooler, less crowded trip than this one in June!

Fellow teacher here :flower3:

Once you've got enough DVC trips under your belt to be over the park-centered trips, you'll find that Spring Breaks at a DVC resort are lovely. Most Spring Breakers are there for the park - and we've really enjoyed relaxing in the warm sunshine and at the pool - even when it's crowded, the DVC resorts are peaceful.

OK DW is cracking up. Posted on the VB adoration thread earlier this evening about stopping over at the resort yesterday. So while looking through your thread here, low and behold there is a picture of a soaking wet big dummy waiting patiently ah make that impatiently to get some info. Any ideas on how to collect royalties? j/k LOL:thumbsup2

PS was also at Squid Lips having an appetizer of shrimp with a dinner of Rum last night after finishing up at the museum. Hope you didn't take any pictures thereTeachckg ;) LOL Hope the rest of your stay goes well.pirate:

We have arrived home now... the drive home was not bad (easier though when you are heading to your vacation).

With our first DVC trip done, we are very pleased. I really enjoyed experiencing three different places in one trip, but do not think we will do that everytime.

Going into this trip we said this would be a learning experience from the resorts to the parks. I think we learned how to approach the parks in a more relaxed manner. We found some things we liked and disliked with each place we stayed, but overall we found that really have a lot of options-- and that feels great. I see us staying at all three places again and look forward to trying the other DVC properties.

We are soooo happy with our purchase of DVC and I can not wait until future trips!!!!

Can't wait till January :)

Thanks for the great report. We are AKV owners and have stayed at BWV (add on coming there someday) but have never been to Vero. Pros and cons on Vero?

I feel like you have to look at VERO in a different way.... as someone said earlier, it does not have the "magical" feeling of when you are in WDW... but do you really want that at every resort-- not really. We had come from AKV savannah room with awesome animals outside my window (I am a real sucker for animals) and nothing was going to compare at that point.

Not saying I did not like Vero, it is very nice. PROS-- awesome pool and slide, a lot of activities for the little ones, calm ocean waters (IMO- "not my cup of tea though"), Outlets shops, cute "local" shops, it was nice going "off property" to dinner (We tried Squid Lips and Ninos-- loved them both), and very relaxing place!

CONS- the ocean was too clam in my opinion (I like jumping through waves), colors in room (specifically the bathroom) were not my taste, I expected the town of VERO to be more "touristy"-- not sure if it is a bad thing that it is not-- just surprised.

I feel like by the time we got to Vero, we were starting to "check out" anyway-- We had planned a two week vacation (too long IMO). They were calling for a fair amount of rain, we were worried about 4th of July traffic heading home, and I REALLY missed my DOG (picture by my name)!!! So we feel the next time we will do Vero it will be a 5 day WDW and 3 day Vero combo!

As I mentioned before... we are happy to have choices!!!

Dealt with the AK buses for the first time tonight (we have been driving to the parks). Went to MK and both ways I was very pleased. Never waited more than 5 min. In fact on the way home we just missed a bus leaving and another one came within 5 min. It was packed and not everyone in line got on but they seemed to be coming consistently.

When we got on there were about three people from Kidani and when we were on our way back only about six got off. It is obvious that it is not open completely.

Wishes was great... first time I have seen it in 20 years. We were standing right under tinkerbell :)

Details, details-- please!!! That is the single most important thing for me to do on our next trip-- other than actually meeting Miss Belle herself. Where were you standing and when did you have to jockey for positioon???

I am confused. I thought that you could not walk from Jambo House to Kidani Village?

When looking at the castle we were on the right. After you pass through the "main street" shops you make a right (Going toward Tomorrowland). There are tables with yellow and white umbrellas. There are tables and chairs along the walkway and then also in a lower seating area. Unfortunately it is also a designated smoking area (which you will see noted if you look on the map of Magic Kingdom). It is right before the Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station. We actually stood on the stairs that head down to the lower area.

We arrived about 45 minutes prior to Wishes.

Hope this helps!

You absolutely can! We walked from Kidani to Jambo and back many times over our June trip. The walkway is marked with signs, and it takes about 8-10 minutes each way. A very pleasant walk.

Thanks! We actually have reservations for the MK Wishes Dessert Party which is on the TL Noodle Terrace. Sounds like I might be able to see her-- even if I have to go outside to see her! Thanks again.

Yes-- I think you will have a great view from there!

I sooo can't wait!!! Our reservations for the dessert party is an unexpected splurge. But DH gets really annoyed at having to stake out parade/fireworks position so early-- especially in August heat! At least this way we avoid that, he and the kids will be entertained with food AND I'll get to see Tink fly! Something I've wanted to do every trip but something always happens so I can't. We're also taking DH's sister and our niece so this will be a special treat for them.
