We are going to melt!

It's supposed to be 104 our first day in the park (Monday)... :-( We are coming prepared though- I have mister fans, cold towels, camelbak and umbrellas... yeesh.

we opted for the cooling caps over the chilly pads because you can wear them on your head the whole time. Anybody tried these?

My kids loved when we soaked their hats in cold water during a bathroom break. We would hardly ring them out and then put them on their heads. The cool water drips down their backs and their whole head is wet which helps cool them down!

Have a magical time!!

Sorry--it is downright miserable when it's that hot at Disneyland. You can't sugarcoat that. Not enough shade to make that ok.

Our worst trip memories there are from when it was in the 90s. Felt like we were melting into the ground. I believe the forecast is record breaking into the 100's.

Pool time! Dole Whips! Hotel a/c at GC lobby!

Good luck to those who will be there.

Wish I could reschedule. I would in a minute.

As a DL novice here i'm just curious. Isn't the whole "get there early to get stuff done" thing kind of out the window when the park opens at 10:00?

Still be there at rope drop if possible. The parks normally fill up around noon regardless of when they open, you won't get an empty park for 3 hours like you would with an early opening but you should still get an hour or 2.

The nice thing about this time of year is even with the shorter hours you'll get a ton done since it's slow season and the lines will be much shorter.

I wonder if where we live plays into this, I live in Vegas so 100 feels like an average day, add the fact DL has a ton more trees and shade than I'm used to and I thought it was hot but not that bad.

Yeah, I wouldn't say I was miserable on our trips that were over 100 degrees. So while that may be the case for that particular poster, it isn't that way for everyone. We had a blast! And I am someone who hates weather hotter than 68 degrees.

And to the poster who said they have a 30 minute walk to the hotel...you may want to consider taking a shuttle or something.

I was just coming here to post this! Our days are Monday-Thurs. next week. I guess we'll plan to swim each day (the kids love that). And I'll dig out the water fans. We'll wear hats and drink lots of water.

It is what it is.

Definitely visit the enchanted tiki room. It normally feels so awesomely cool in there. That's because Jose and friends don't like to get their feathers ruffled from too much heat. Believe me, it's not a pretty picture my friends. :faint:
The haunted mansion is nice and bone chillingly cool as well. Plus, there is always room for one more. ;)
The little misting fans are very nice.
Definitely wear sunblock with SPF of at least 20. A good hat and sunglasses too. Don't forget lip protection. And sunblock those ears and neck, don't forget the back of the neck.

The temperature forecast high for Anaheim as of this coming Saturday through next Tuesday is in the 100° range. With the hottest day being next Monday at 104° Cooling off a bit after Tuesday, with the forecast highs being in the low 90s.'

Yes, unless one has MM (Magic morning) or EMH (Extra magic hour)

Sounds refreshing. It would not work for myself though, because it would totally mess up my hair style. Yes...a bit of vanity before comfort. :faint:

We have 2 kiddos, 4 and 1.5 years. Our plan for the heat is to make sure they sit in the shade of the double stroller when they can, we got 2 of the Chilly Pad cooling towels (Frog Toggs) - plenty of water and just making sure to take advantage of cool drinks and ice cream :cool1:

Well, the good news is it cools back down to low 80's :boat:by Thursday. I'll be long gone, but that is good news for those of you coming in a little later this week !

We're heading this weekend too. Do you think we'll need sweatshirts for after dark? We've only got 2 days in the parks and our hotel is a 30 min walk, so I want to avoid going back there mid-day.

30 minutes? Please oh please get a taxi. We had a long walk from our hotel once, and it was fine, but I don't think it was that long and it wasn't in the 90s. Just right now budget for a taxi or look into changing hotels. That's too much travel time for such a short trip.

I usually need a sweatshirt once night falls but didn't find myself having that need the other week. It was cooler but not that cold. On the other hand, we only had one later night.

There are always late sleepers or long breakfasters or people who misjudged when to leave San Diego or whatever. It won't be as big a difference as when the park opens earlier, but there's still a difference.

The RSR line is kind of brutal in the heat until you get to the misters. All the trees aren't tall enough yet to provide any shade. But those misters are awesome. They should add more earlier in the line.

Should be great in about 5-10 years. :)

I was there in May with a couple of days of 100+ degree weather. I was worried it'd be way too hot to have fun as well. Lugging a 6 and 3 year old through the park with all the crap in 100+ weather sounded like a sufferfest. It turned out perfectly fine though.

Make sure you have wide brimmed hats and misters. Also plan the warmest days at California adventure. CA has 3 puddle parks, 2 in Bugs Land and one by the bridge near the Pier. We also bought 2 misters which helped. If you're super worried about the sun, bring a compact umbrella for waiting in lines. Everyone will be jealous of your portable shade.

Have fun!

I like the idea of having a compact umbrella in lines so I went an bought one that fit nicely in my back pack. When I mentioned it to a friend they said it be innapropriate and annyong if someone busted an umbrella out in a crowded line. Any thoughts?
