We are staying one night at CSR and the remaining nights at POR. Can we check into POR right after we check out at CSR or do we have to wait a couple of hours? Also, how do we transfer to a different resort? Do I have to fill out paper work?

We are doing a split stay also {POR and CBR} The CRO told me to let the front dest know the night before that we will be moving to a different hotel and what time our luggage will be ready to go. In the morning we should check out and they will go to our room get our luggage and transfer it to the new hotel via a van. We go to our new hotel after checkin time { I think its 3:00} and our luggage will be there in storage. We shall see how this works out. It's our first time trying this although I have read other messages saying it went smoothly. We'll see in April ! Hope this helps.

Hi, yes you can check into POR right after you check out of CSR. If you have POR move your luggage it may not get to your room until after 3pm and your room at POR may not be ready until after 3pm. Was this what you wanted to know? Joan

Hey!!! We're doing a split stay for the first time in May too, same resorts!!! First four nights in POR and second four nights in CBR!!! I hope it goes smoothly!!! It took A LOT to convince my DH and four DD's that it's a good idea and "a lot of people do it and love it" We've stayed at POR twice and LOVE it, but I wanted to try another moderate, this was the way to do it!! Let us know how it went!! :goodvibes

We are splitting our stay between CBR and WL in June. I am glad that you mentioned that we may not get our luggage until 3PM. We had thought about swimming, so we need to keep our suits out. :)
I was also wondering how the tip is handled in this situation. If you leave the bags in the room, do you leave the tip too? :confused3 I know we will tip the bellhop who carries our luggage to our room at WL.

We tried our first split-stay in Nov. POR-Poly-Pop. No problems anywhere. We left an labeled envelope with the tip on top of our bags at POR, and at the Poly we were there when they picked up the luggage, so we just handed it to them. It was very easy, no worries at all! Have fun:)

We have done two split-stays and will be doing it again in June. Now, I can't imagine spending more than 5 days at one resort. It's like getting two vacations in one! I did learn, though, that we need at least 3 days at each resort to get the full flavor and experience of the resort. Anything shorter than that makes me feel like I don't even have time to unpack my suitcase.

On one transfer, we transferred our own bags since we had a rental car. The second time, my husband wasn't feeling well so we just called bell services and they took our luggage and transferred it. I'm not sure I would just leave my bags in my room, though. I wouldn't feel comfortable with that. I would prefer that someone pick them up before I leave the first hotel.

Both times, we went straight to the second hotel in the morning (8:30 am or so) and checked in, knowing that our room wouldn't be ready. I figured that way we got a better room selection than those people checking in at 3:00. Then we were off to the parks and when we came back for an afternoon rest, we called for our bags. It was very easy.

Also, remember that if you have any medications or special food items that you will need, to keep those with you. We had antibiotics and prescription cough medicine and we had to be sure to hand carry those in case our luggage would have been delayed.

We always do this..on our next trip in May we are splitting it up between 3 resorts. We have never had a problem..Disney transfers your luggage and you go on with your day..you luggage may not get there the same time as you if you check in right away but it will get there shortly after..
I love hopping around from resort to resort like it was stated before it's like starting a whole new vacation!!!!!

It's great to hear the positive feedback from "split vets"! We will be staying at CBR and AKL during our 12/06 trip. :sunny:

We are doing our first split stay in May- 4 nights AKL and 5 nights Poly.

I think we will wait in our room til bell services comes and picks up our luggage at AKL.

Or, has anyone just taken their luggage down to bell services and handed it to them on their way out of the resort? Or, do you think you have to call them and let them know the night before? -Stephanie

We called from our room at the Poly in Feb when we were getting ready to leave, and they came to pick up the luggage within 15 minutes.

If you would like you can bring your bags to bell services, that would not be a problem. We usually have them pick it up in our room and we wait for them which has never taken more then 15 mins.

I cannot wait until May..Beaches and Cream here we come!!!!
