and I need ideas.

I would like something that suits the whole family. Dh, dd (5), new baby due end of Dec and me. We are pretty laid back, I like things neat and uncluttered, baby proofed, yet still want the house to look nice.

We are heading to Disney in October and I want some ideas of what to buy. I look forward to hearing eveyones ideas.

my living room is done is a very loose 'animal kingdom' theme...we have tan furniture with zebra stripes (bronze) on the pillows--it looks better than it sounds. My coffee table is a walnut color with old worlde style maps decoupaged on it. Looks great. dh did a good job. Accessories are very easy to come by...hobby lobby has a lot of palm tree/animal things.

After our house is built I plan to decorate one of my bathrooms with 'HIDDEN mickeys although I haven't figured out HOW yet - I think it will be fun!

I don't have any rooms done totally in Disney, but I have touches here and there... I have towels in the kitchen with Donald Duck that we bought in WDW. My bathroom used to be decorated all in Mickey (until we moved) we had a shower curtain, soap dish, lotion dispenser and towels. And I have Disney globes and picture frames placed throughout the house.
I love the Disney bedspreads and borders they have, that will probably be my next Disney purchase.

How would I do that? Maybe I can get some ideas while in Disney. If anyone has any ideas before that it would be helpful. Dh is not handy so it has to be simple decorating I can do myself.

Eeyore, I did a faux finish, cloud design in DS's room, and now it occurs to me that I could have made a "Hidden Mickey" cloud. Maybe I'll sneak it in there!

Also, I like the scattered Mickey stuff, and those "parts" ie. pants, glove, would make a cute and easy border. At Downtown Disney there is a home store with Disney stuff that I really liked!

well if you can make your own curtains or pillows you can sew a few hidden mickey's in there!
Paint a faux finish and add in a few hidden mickey's
If you do an 'animal kingdom' theme type it would be really easy to use a little animal print with a hidden mickey or two in there!

the top and bottom of the border have a bright red chair rail around it.

the top half of the room is Bright white and we have the Disney STore Lithos framed in shiny black frames in a pattern all around the room.

We have stuffed Mickeys and a big plush mickey all through out the room. The kids love it! :)

i don't know if you plan on decorating a rec room, and this idea sounds a little manish (if that's a word), but you could do one in dark, classic colors like hunter green and navy blue. maybe use the old black and white disney cartoons. disney's got so much stuff you could even do a sports theme and use sports prints and memoribilia. i remember there being a sports store in magic kingdom. if i did my house in disney, i can imagine my husband's groans, but a room like this would be a compromise on our part.

One of our bathrooms is Mickey and so is my kitchen. I have lots of red, black, and yellow in both of them. I promised DH when we got married I would keep Mickey limited to those two rooms, but I have so many he is slowly starting to spread throughout the house, in our bedroom we have the Mickey phone on one nightstand and Mickey lamp on the other..And of course a big giant Mickey that sits on the bed!! I would love to have my entire house in Disney themes, but I think that one might send DH over the edge.

Let us know what you decide to do...

in Disney. So I don't think he will mind what we do. It will be a while before we actually decorate because we don't even go to Florida until the end of October, we have a baby due the end of December and of course there is Christmas to deal with. But we will work on it a little at a time.

I would say keep it simple-bold color...simple borders...hidden mickeys are a great idea...but the more simple the better...you could even theme each room a different park...etc...
just my thoughts

I did my kitchen in Mickey. It is pretty basic with the red, blue theme colors blending with mickey's all over. Mickey baskets candles, jello molds, mickey dish towels and mickey tiles. It is fun bright and once people see it they love finding new things for me to add. Still looking for a throw rug for under my sink. That is hard to find as well a utensil crock.

If you are like us you will need lots of shelf space for the collections. We have a room and hall full of items and prints. Plus our Christmas tree is all Disney things. Not to mention our Christmas village display is mostly Disney. I think we have too much!

We're looking at creating a border in our den by taking lines of music from our favorite Disney songs and painting them around the top of the room. (Ok, ok, I'll admit it - we stole the idea from the DCL pictures over the beds...)

;)
